Hey! Nice to hear from you again. I loved my time in Myanmar. We were there in during Thingyan for the giant water fights.
Let's chat. I'd be interested to hear how things changed with the last change in government.

Saludos desde Medellin! Kudos for including the book store and the opera house. They are stunning world class architectural treasures. You might recall I'm contemplating a move to BA from Medellin. My recent reading has generated doubts about the DNI process. Many comments say that it's not as easy as some claim. I'd hire a local expert to take charge of mine. Do you have a DNI?
    Best, Geoff

We didn't get a DNI, and not having one is a bit of a pain, as many online services, such as Mercado Libre, won't work without a DNI. The DNI is equivalent to Colombia's cedula. Getting a DNI itself isn't difficult; you just need a residency visa.
The difficulty of obtaining a residency visa depends on the type of visa and your citizenship.
If you are planning residency, especially for periods longer than 1 year, definitely speak with a international tax specialist. Argentina has 3 classes of tax residency (resident, non-resident, beneficiary). Depending on which class, you may get taxed on your worldwide income and Argentina does not have a DTT with the US.

@@nomadicfire Yikes! I'm retired with a pension so I'll need air tight expert advice before moving. Colombia is not taxing pensions. The law stipulates that pensions are taxable but it is disregarded.
