I agree with you. People on the dance floor don't care what instrument you play. They just want a good rhythm for dancing. I listened 4 times. #1 = P bass; #2 = J bass. This made a good point. At the time of this post and including my vote, the results are pretty balanced. So far, 6 votes for #1 = P bass and 5 votes for #1 = J bass. What was my reason for choosing #1 = P bass? A J bass looks weird, and the string squeaks with #2 sounded weird. Thus, #2 was J bass.
So 1 sounds like a jazz with the tone rolled off and 2 sounds like a Pbass with the tone rolled up????? Either way i love these vids! Thanks, Dyno Dan Bassman
I work in television so for me it's your arm position that's telling me that 1 is a P Bass, the tone never really changed hand in front or behind the pickup and 2 is a J Bass hand in the back position is a brighter tone of a bridge pickup then the neck pickup
So as a Bass newbie, which one is which? I am currently scouring the market for a Bass. I played (and recorded) drums for 40+ years, switched to guitar and singing doing a solo thing since 2008. Thought I wanted a Jazz or a MusicMan Stingray S.U.B. and would like to know which is which. Thank You for this comparison. I like the sound of #2 but do they make flatwounds for Bass guitars?
flatwound strings for bass ... I use LaBella flatwounds. I bought Thomastik-Infeld (expensive) when I could not get LaBella. I think other brands started making flatwoulds also, like Ernie Ball and D'Addario???
I'm guessing that bass 1 is a jazz. Bass 2 is precision. The 1st bass had a little more of that jazz mid-range. And the second one sounded more like the precision I play 😄
#1 is the Jazz, #2 is the P. I could instantly tell with the first note ;P
#1 jazz, #2 P

This video made me feel like I was a Bass and Bully was playing me.

I think that you are trying to trick us into #1 being a Jazz and #2 being a P, so I’ll guess the other way around:)
Well Bully,.... yes, ...yes I can tell the difference. So can you brother. Keep doing whatcha doin.
#1 was the J-bass. #2 was the P-bass
#1 p bass #2 jazz bass
Jazz, then P. Very clear difference. Hope I'm right 😂
