I have 2 p's. 1 flats and 1 rounds. Also a PJ fretless and a jbass fretted. Several others also, but these cover all those classic fender tones. P's are a must in any collection. Especially in the studio.
I got myself a cheap ass Olympic white PJ Squier sometime ago. I installed a Hipshot KickAss bridge, Seymour Duncan quarter pound pickups, and totally rewired and shielded it. It's not the most expensive bass around the block, but it's a beast and plays great! 😁
I'd like to personally thank you for changing my life Bully :-) I've been looking for a bass for years and just thought there HAD to be something more affordable than the big brand and boutique basses I've owned over the years. Then I saw your best/worst basses vid where you talk about this green Squier P Sonic. The trick for me was getting a pro set up and upgrading the bridge and pups. And hand on heart, she plays as well or better than basses costing 10-20 times more. With many leaving their expensive basses at home and touring with these cheap Squiers, I personally don't consider this a beginner bass, but a real, super affordable tool for any pro (I went Tobacco Burst myself:-) Thanks again and keep the quality content coming!
just started learning bass this year, I have a pj bass. I did my research on which one to get and I wanted to be able to explore the range of the bass as i go so i ended up getting Jackson JS Series Spectra JS2P IV Electric Bass - Blue Burst i don’t use the jazz pick up like that but a lot of old school songs call for jazz pick up tones… my next bass will be a 5 string precision bass the fender american professional you did a video on
I love a straight P bass, but i also like putting different types of pickups in the sweet spot, like a MM or a slanted soapbar. I'm also partial for reverse P.
The Precision is just a great solid staple of an electric bass. I started with a Donner DPB-510 (in part from your recommendation of you video from years ago). I still have it and is a regularly played bass. Today I was working on the new Brandon Lake song Hard Fought Hallelujah. I was using my Surf Green Squier Sonic P (vintage style Alnico pickup with flats and a foam mute) for a thumpy P Bass tone. My number one player is my Ashdown Roasted Saint Soap with the mini humbucker in the location of the D/G half of P bass. I just like the sound of a pickup in that location.
My first bass in 94’ was a P-Bass, took it back to GC Hollywood (was too Dull for me) , as I was walking out the store I heard the most amazing sound , a guy was demoing a Music Man, that’s the day I found my Bass Voice.
J Bass. I've never understood the P Bass. I love the bridge tone on a Jazz. Understood that the P is industry standard for recording, but Jazz is the bass for me all day. My dad bought me a japanese J-Bass in the 70's at Nadines in Hollywood. I played that mutha to death. Once I discovered Weather Report it was game over. Hell Joe Zawinull lived in my neighborhood. I filed the frets off and have played fretless ever since. I'm now 66 and loving the Sire basses.
Hi Alan, thanks for your reviews. I watched one of your previous videos about the Squier Affinity Precision, and now with this new one, I wanted to know from your perspective which bass would be a better bet between the Affinity and this Sonic Precision. I'm trying to decide on my first bass. Thank you for your advise!
You know I’m a bass player I didn’t even know I had a P Bass I started out with a blue Ibanez bass not the P Bass but my second one is it red and white it’s actually a Nashville brand
I don't know muchnabout basses. I'm a newbie so i just bought what caught my eye and was affordable. Inbought a "Sterling Stingray". Did i pick wrong? Btw that groove was DOPE.🔥🔥🔥👊🏿

First of all, that color! Love the bright green. I like a jazz bass but I always use a five string. Been wanting a P Bass V. - Now I want a green one.

Nice review and demonstration. That color is keeping me up tonight.

That’s a nice bass and I would also recommend a Squier Sonic Bronco bass because it’s a short scale which is good for a beginner which I am a beginner
What do you think about the Stingray with the p style pots? Its funny that Leo came up all 3 of them.
I have that bass. It's great. Worth every penny and more.
I agree. Everyone needs a Sonic P Bass in Green 😏😏😏
I agree everyone should have a P-bass but a jazz bass is a definite must IMO so...I think you should buy that one first for beginners.
It's harder to go wrong with a p bass at the entry level (e.g. it's humbucking and will have a thicker/stronger neck).
Killer groove!
You can’t go wrong with a P bass

I have a Japanese Suzuki J-bass copy form 79. Awesome instrument. Love it!
I have 3 a Harley Benton, 58 Custom Shop Fender and Sire D5 ..... Of course a Ric also...
Forgot about the fender mustang..... Ok ok that's it
Watching on my phone , the speakers cant even output the bass groove
Billy Cobham - Opelousas (1978)
P, J for the win studio killer!
