"Just buy the car you want and repair it when it brakes" I have honestly never heard this advice from no other car channel.....ever! and that's why I love it. By the way I will take a 5ltr in dark green with saddle leather interior please.
@@HighPeakAutos It's brilliant advice if you want to avoid driving boring hatchbacks all your life. Some of the best cars I have ever owned have been the worst ones.
Ask any AA driver/mechanic which cars ? break down more often, and they say that the RR would be top of their list. (AAA in USA). Even having an extended warranty, do you really want the RR to be at the mechanic’s shop more often than others?
I've got fsh L322 4.2 Supercharged. It has 65k miles on it since 2007. The pre interior facelift that the one you are driving in the video has. The Supercharged engine is superb. In 14 months the only issue is a messed up alternator that needed a rebuild. Fabulous cars.
Just sold my 2011 4.4 and it was an amazing car. Best driving/seat position in a car I've driven and that engine is unreal. Get a 2010 or newer, which is a better Ford engine and you are good to go. Just make sure you service it and do jobs as they are close to going wrong and hopefully you can avoid any big bills.... and after over 2 years of owning one, still cost me less in depreciation, tax, insurance and fuel than my E91 BMW.
I own a 2007 L322 TDV8 in Australia. Thankfully this video is the most accurate I have ever seen on You Tube. I have taken ours almost around Australia, to the Snowfields, through the Murray River and it tows our 30 foot trailerable boat. I spend about AUD$1000 a year on LR maintenance. This is complex and capable and matches the Toyota Landcruiser in many aspects. If Maintained, garaged, driven respectfully and repaired early, if and when necessary, the depreciation over their entire life is more reasonable than just the first few years when all cars drop in value. The economy in ours is 1000 Km per tank and the torque enough to retrieve our boat on the launching ramp (3500KG).
Thank you! I am a proud owner of three l322's... i cannot let go one of them... daily driver, work horse, offroader and grand tourer... what a great car!
Worth mentioning that Land Rover extended warranty will only cover a car up to 10 years old, which might explain why the previous owner is selling it now!
"You may as well just buy the car you want and fix it when it breaks". Considering the amount of people paying £300+ per month on a new Audi on lease etc, your advice seems so so sensible. I've never even sat in one of these but I presume every one I see on the road is owned by a celeb, a footballer, a drug dealer, a successful business owner or Royalty. I know am gonna love it if I ever sit in one. Your review makes me consider saving up to get one as an upgrade from my 2009 fiesta 😂. Would need to park some dough for repairs as well of course. High Peak Autos have got the used car review game on lock. Your sales must have rocketed from all your videos. All the best.
Thank you for an excellent and very rare honest review. I entirely agree with what you've said. The key thing is to get a Range Rover with a really good and extensive service history. I have had a Range Rover previously and loved it. Yes, it needed maintenance but it never let me down. When the time comes to replace my current car then I'll seriously be looking at a V8 Range Rover again. I hope you've kept this one for yourself.
Yes, Yes, YES! Never say no to an L322! This video keeps appearing on my to watch list and I watch it again and again! Love your reviews! Keep it up. Looking for the next one!!
Me too, but I fixed it myself! I has the heads reconditioned and the injectors service by those that do that kind of work, but all the rest was simple disassembly and reassembly, nothing too difficult.
ZenMinus yup me too. Had a slipped camshaft bearing so I pulled the whole motor out, took it apart, had block skimmed and heads planed by a machining place and then I put it all back together with new bearings and gaskets. Pretty simple old motors. Land Rover still making mechanics out of owners even now.
Agreed. I still love mine. It looks like a Rangie. Not an identical Silhouette; they all look the same now. I inadvertently insulted a friend recently by asking why he bought an Evoque ... he told me it was a Velar. He hasn't spoken since !!
I love your attitude to a used car. Everything does break from a car the a house hold appliance it is what it is. Keep doing what your doing please you seam to be the most honest used car salesman Iv ever seen.
In your first ever video you gave similar advice about the RRSport and based on that I went out and bought one, I’ve always loved them, I love mine and haven’t looked back since! “Buy what you want and fix it when it breaks” tick! Another great review, thank you Matt.
Really? Pleased to hear it! I don't know if its great advice, but thats what I've always done and I've never gone too far wrong. Life is too short to drive an old Corolla
I just bought an ‘07 3.6 TDV8 L322 and I LOVE IT! Yours is so nice… and I agree if you smile when you flaw it, the smile on your face is worth the low MPG’s! Such a lot of car for the money these days… I couldn’t believe it. Mine has FSH and it’s wicked. Can’t wait to use it more and more
Well done. A honest review with failing parts and mpg. This is a definite helpful vlog for a clever buyer, to keep aside few grands for maintenance and then purchase their DREAM Car which has the highest Luxury, comfort, power n off road capabilities with the Solid Brand Image. Thanks
Hi Matt. Fabulous video as always. I really think THIS is the best Range Rover to go for. 2009 facelift and updated interior. Maybe not the supercharged petrol but the 300hp diesel. Full service history ideal with fewer than 100,000 miles done. Dream price would be £15k. True, earlier models you can get for under £4k but this 2009 combination is the best of everything in my opinion. Thank you for helping me reach this moment of clarity!
I totally agree! over the past 13 years I've had a 2002 and now have a 2008, both bought for a fraction used. I've never been happier driving anything else. people love to hate them off of hearsay though. I'm not a fan of the change in looks in 2013, so when the time comes, I may get a 2012. my 2008 is still running great at 155k miles though, so I'm good. my 2002 made it to 195k miles before I gave it up.
Quality review of a luxury car, putting everything into perspective. I’ve been a Land Rover fan all my life, having owned many, now I’m considering buying an L322 4.4 tdV8 or maybe a L405 3.0 tdV6 if I could afford one, and great reviews like this are really helpful, thanks for taking the time to do them 😀
Umd n Arrr`d at 5.0 petrol. . .Ended up with 61 one lady vicar owner low mls 4.4dsl V8. .had it mapped now 399bhp n 600-ish torks, the mid range is Awesome (short shift) and better with V-Powa derv etc Also fitted `Sporty` exzost. 23" wheels . . .RELIABLE TOO!!! Best truck I,ve ever had Bar None
just bought a true beauty baltic blue 1 owner v8 supercharged 2011 fully dealer serviced. I stole it from the original owner for 5 grand. Only 98k miles. its so much better then my 2019 velar p380 hse.
Really enjoyed this but I am the cousin's neighbour's friend's brother. Suspension faults, fuel sender unit & pump, false alarms, supension pump, restricted performance, radio silence, aircon wont start, drive belt tensioner, front cam seal, turbo hose, off road faults. 61 plate, 4.4 V8 diesel. Bought off a mate who had it for 18 months with no issues. But you are right they are beautiful and I almost smile as I shell out on another bill. Had to buy a Q7 cos the wife wont go in it but I know which one I choose each morning. She's a hard task mistress but worth the pain!
Good review keep the vids coming! This and a TD5 110 would be the perfect garage combo for me. The myth about P38’s and head gaskets is just a myth....
I just took delivery of a 2010 Range Rover Supercharged myself. Had it delivered to me in Philadelphia from Miami in good condition. I've only one concern at this time and that's the driver side power step rail is stuck halfway between open and closed if that makes sense. The step rail motor makes noise, but it won't budge much even with pressure applied after heavy lubrication. The passenger side works flawlessly. Will be getting it sorted soon though. Id been wanting one of these forever and I'm truly excited about the purchase.
I still have an 03 V8 and it puts a smile on my face every time I drive it, Its been very kind to me on repairs costs and thats why I still have it. When the time comes I think the next one will be the 4.4 diesel V8 but that supercharged V8 is so tempting....
Hahahaha this is great! I was waiting for a while for you to acquire a 5.0 supercharged monster Rover! I got the same grin the first time I drove mine, I bought it with a full warranty to take care of the timing chain issue when it arises (they won't do anything even tho I showed them the TSB). In doing some research I found that Land Rover has had these engines running reliably with as high as 620bhp, so this engine will be here for a while!. Love mine and I'm so glad you got to experience 5.0 and all the luxury that comes with it. Awesome review! Range Roveritis is strong here!
Hey @High Peak Autos, Running great so far!, I can average about 15 maybe 16mpg if I drive like a grandma and stick to the speed limit, but I don't. One thing I find funny is reading about the "symposer", once you hit 3,000rpm the symposer opens up a series of pipes into a resonator inside the cab that lets you hear that music that is the V8 reving up.
Great honest review.im a Yorkshire lad living 30 yrs in California. I drive a 2007 RR 322 w 104k miles daily. Favorite car ever. I am selling to try out a 2016 RR with very low miles. My other car is a 2016 jag f type R. Still prefer to daily drive the 322. ( v8 supercharged) wife has mercedes GL 320. Not even half as luxurious and ergonomics are terrible. Similar new price. RR is awesome. scheduled services only for entire life. Never let me down. Cheers.
I've had numerous cars over the last 35 years, inc Discos, Porsche, BMWs but I love my L322 4.4TDV8 Westi. Drives really well, quick, comfortable and reasonably economical - recent 360 mile motorway journey averaged 38mpg. If you've got that 'itch' go ahead and scratch it, you might just love it and you're only here once - it's not a rehearsal!!!
The best reviewer on the internet. You should work for BBC Top Gear if it ever comes back there is a space now one of the guys had awful accident not the guy most of us wanted to crash though. Keep up the great work
"Just buy the car you want and repair it when it brakes" Amen. Least hassle I ever had with a car was a 1988 Jaguar XJ-S V12. Most expensive was a approved used BMW 530d. I'll take a 2012 RR L322 Westminster TDV8 in aintree green with cream leather if you see one. Cheers.
I bought disco 4 after watching your videos on RUclips and now wanna buy ranger rover this one the video and once again thanks for your videos. They help us much with the knowledge
Although I'm not in the market or looking for a Range Rover, I still watch your videos. You're so down to earth and the things you say make so much more sense than almost any other RUclipsr. I bought a 1998 Jaguar XJR 4.0 V8 Supercharged with immaculate service history and a fastidious previous owner, yet it still forever goes wrong. People tell me "typical Jag" but me telling them that an old car will simply break and is worth repairing purely for the unique experience it offers when it's working without fault just all fall on deaf ears. I love my car, it's a beautiful machine and nobody will convince me to get rid of it just because it has age related problems, and I certainly wouldn't replace it with a boring "reliable" Japobox runaround. Keep up the good work!
@@HighPeakAutos So not only do you make decent videos with common sense advice you also have great taste in motors! It would be absolutely awesome to see a video review in your style of it on the channel!
@@HighPeakAutos They are fantastic cars. I developed my taste in cars from my family, both my dad and grandad owning old XJs. I loved them so much my first car was a Jaguar X308 XJ Sport, which after it sadly met it's demise got replaced by this XJR I have now. Will happily run it until the wheels fall off or until it bankrupts me!
Don't! Unless you like your name on the waiting list at the repair shop, while you enjoy your leather and luxury in your broken Range, sitting in your parking lot.
@@grigoreborota2776 😴 It's a second hand/ used car...of course you'll have a few issues with it. Just because it has A RR badge doesn't make it any different than my 04 Octavia that had turbo, intercooler, exhaust and gearbox issues to name a few. You live once so might as well buy the car you want!
@bill Bloggs Think I'd go for the 4.2 SC instead of the big 5.0 just so I get 24mpg or be somewhat sensible and get either a 3.6 or 4. 4 TDV8. I don't do that many miles so it wouldnt bother me so much
Can I ask why? I'm planning on either buying an 2012 L322 or an L405. Having tried both I'm kind of happier in the L322 but my rationale wants the L405.
WHAT A CAR!!!! Love it. For a 2009 RR the interior is just stunning. In fact it looks astonishing inside and out. If I was in the market for a big 4 x 4 I would have one in a heartbeat. Thanks for an excellent informative upload as per usual Sir!
I've been a RUclips 'watcher' for years but your videos have left me no option but to sign up lol, great videos. I have been trying to convince myself to jump in and buy a RRS for a few months and after hours of reading reviews and watching your videos bought a 2008 HSE last month and I love it, thanks 👍🏼👍🏼. Keep the Range Rover reviews coming 😃😃😃
I had a 2012 4.4 V8 diesel Westminster, it's the finest car I've ever owned, it made me feel like royalty and the only reason I sold it was I drove 100 miles a day at 28 mpg. NOTHING except the windscreen wiper motor went wrong in 100,000 miles. Oh, and what a hifi system, amazing.
Comment of the Week: My cousin's neighbours friend had to sell his kid in order to get it through its MOT !!!!! 😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁 Always watch your vids Monday morning before I set off for work, and comments like that keep me smiling all day long 👌👌👌👌👌👌👌👌👌👌 Reg`s Steve.
Great video. I've had many Range Rovers and currently have a 2010 5.0 Supercharged Autobiography identical to yours but with a Prins LPG conversion. It is by far the best RR I've owned for comfort, power & running costs. The conversion is expensive but I bought mine already converted and would highly recommend it. Absolutely love the ridiculous power and I get the same silly grin when I floor it. Keep up the good work with the videos. Cheers. Gordon
The definition of deadpan charisma. And as always, a joy to watch. Such a relief compared with other often irritating and vacuous youtube reviewers. Even the scenery adds a special touch. Problem is I've got a few cars already and you always make think about getting another. Keep up the good work!
The biggest difference between 4.2 SC and the 5.0 SC is that 4.2 SC i much more reliable. 5.0 SC is prone to have timing issues. 5.0 SC is pretty powerfull when it works and well maintained.
True. 4.2 SC has thick walled pistons sleeves and no varriable timing and no direct injection which makes this engine whole hell of a lot simpler then 5.0 SC. My first LR was 2009 RRS SC -what a awesome car, second and a current 2013 RRS SC 5.0. Theoretically, if you buy one made in 2012-2013, there is no timing issue or if you had that timing issue taken care of, these engines are pretty reliable and long lasting besides that specific issue. I mran there is some plastic cooland housing that cracks but generally, timing issue aside. Its not like 4.2 last forever and 5.0 you will be loosing piston rods every time you go to grossery store. Huge plus of 2010 RRSs is fully redone interior, while it does not have gigantic screen or multiple screens, does not have interior like space ship like Velar does but it is awesome, high quality, modern and conservative and undoubtedly has all the infotament for the ride without iphone embedded in to dash board. There is no limit for better, better then better, better then better better but again - I have everything I need withing the hand's reach in my 2013 L320, very comfortable and ergonomic, kicks ass with 5.0 SC too. Yeah, I with it would be aluminum body not worry about corrosion, would, probably be nice to have 8 speed trany instead of 6 speed but like I said - There is no limit for better. I bought it Certfied Preowned directly from LR Dealer with extended warranty and "convinced" them to replace Engine and Transmission in 2019 before warranty expired, hopefully I will enjoy it for several more years relatively trouble free. Generally, if I could have the 2013 interior RRS with 4,2 SC engine, I'd go for it, add a bigger SC pulley if you want nore oooomph.
Ok. I'm hooked as well. I bought a 2010 Supercharged L322 with 90k on it from Miami and had it shipped to Philadelphia after securing a ppi on it. It seemingly has quite a few options not ordinarily found. Power factory side steps with Range Rover badging, Black on black interior with piano black trim and also with a full leather interior, including the headliner. I love it already! Thing is, I always thought that I would. Thanks again for the great video and content as well.
My Dad had two L322’s, both 55 plate with the 4.2 V8 in them. The first one he had from September 2016 to March 2019 and at the start it was the perfect example to why you save money aside for repairs. After three months it suffered an alternator failure and so the battery wouldn’t charge. Also one of the suspension airbags got punctured. Ever since then it never had any major faults. Just the minor things such as moisture in the tail light and the reversing camera not working. He only changed cars cuz it was written off in a motorway crash. The second one brought hasn’t had any major faults either... just the suspension doesn’t drop at 50mph like it should do, reversing camera doesn’t work and the parking sensors play up sometimes. Other than that it works perfectly and it’s done over 140,000 miles. So if you want an L322 Range Rover, I’d say deffo get one but just keep money aside for repairs.
Another RR review? Yes! I was annoyed with your Landcruiser review. I have mentioned before that I have a RR with the 4.4 Ford Turbo diesel V8 and, compared to the RR, that Landcruiser couldn't pull the skin off a rice pudding. The L322 is an absolute delight but, if you're pulling a horsebox, the big diesel is the engine of choice. A much better tow car than the Toyota and just one of the most delightful place to be in on the motorway.
Your reviews are based on reality, and they are the reasons why I am looking at a 5.0 Supercharged. My dad has a Subaru Legacy, and it has had so many problems. I had a 2005 Mercury for 14 years, and the only issue was with the air con needing fixed. We still love Subaru's even though ours had issues. When you want power and luxury, be prepared to spend a little. Keep up the only honest reviews on the web!!!!
The TDV8 in best condition is the very best car you can buy for money. The thing with this car is that in 10 years they still feel like a new car. Pure luxury and style for the price of a used VW Polo of the latest model. Costs to run, yes of course BUT ultimate luxury things never come cheap isn't it. Anyway, in this case always worth the money needed.
here is my take: people go on about how reliable toyotas are an all..............i had a 2004 4runner 4.7 v8.......it took u anywhere, was ballsy, hardly ever broke down.............BUT....................it was THE MOST BORING CAR I EVER HAD.....sure the 4.7 is awesome, but its too damn lazy u stepped on it and it was like.....yeaaa gimme a minute let me strech my muscles sort of thing............i drove my friends 4.2 supercharged version of the range rover..........COMPARED to the 4runner? it was WAY WAY WAY better in every sense, the response was instant,u could feel the engine, and the air suspension made u feel like u were on a magic carpet......saying that........would u rather enjoy yourself and live at the mechanics workshop while owning a Range Rover? or be bored out of your mind and never worry about repairs in a TOYOTA? i leave that to u ;) (i got blisters on my fingers :D )
But Toyotas are even more expensive to repair when they go wrong, and believe me fella, I've heard some horror stories about Toyota and Mitsubishi to. Lets put it this way, If you buy "ANY" vehicle that is over 5 years old and out of manufacturers warranty, expect issues. And that includes BMW, Audi, Porcha, Mercedes, Land Rover, Toyota, Mitsubishi.
I just got a 2004 Range Rover today, December 22 2019! I got bummed out a bit that it's just a 8 cylinder 4,something liter and around 280 hp! As I drove into the gas station ,people started checking it out,I mean it's a 15 year old car! Then I remembered, I got it for free from a friend who owed me and was never going to pay! So the glass is half full of champagne,I'll enjoy it while it lasts, just like I did with the previous!
The reason I don't like these is because the shape has been around so long that you are more likely to find on a council estate with blacked out windows and drug dealer 22" wheels.
Owner of a fabulous 1999 P38 for nine years. Loved the review. LOL because of recent conversation with my wife........... Wife: Now that you are retired, shouldn’t you a have more economical car. Me: No. Wife: A small Honda or Toyota. Me: No. Wife: What car would you buy then? Me: Super charged Range Rover. Wife: With incredulous exasperation, why a Super charged Range Rover........ Me: Because I’m on this earth only once. After watching the video it’s now going to be a 5Lt Super charged autobiography Range Rover with leather headlining.......
Your channel is awesome. I really liked your L322 5.0 SC. I have bought a 2009 one putting a replacement engine in it so upgraded crankshaf pulley and supercharger pulley. Have got reprogamable mapping, high flow air filters and the iceing on the cake a stainless exhaust with 5 inch 200 cell racing cats from Gureilla Exhausts in Holland. With the press of a button sounds like SVR. I hope it comes out as good as one of your cars
Father in law bought a 2006 diesel almost 4 years ago. Total repair costs is a brake caliper,, about £200,new rear camera about £300, other than usual wear and service items. Air suspension throws a few faults but tends to clear itself. Not bad for a £12k car . Never known him keep a car for over 18 months.
I have a 2008 supercharged and love it. I am the second owner and so far trouble free but the first owner had a rebuilt transmission installed for $8,000 Canadian dollars so I am rather sceptical that you could get a replacement transmission installed for 2,000 pounds.
I have been thinking about one of these recently got to say this might be one of the simplest and best videos I’ve seen by anyone selling cars excellent seems honest realistic can’t really ask for any more well done you
I bought one just this year as my first owned car. It is the perfect combination of a growling powerful and fun V8 and a family car. My wife loves it, kids love the DVD... just perfect - and whenever there´s an idiot next to the lights you can smoke him.
And why buy a new crappy VW for the same price as a RR V8 SC 2010? Just why? Great thing about this car is the knowledge base in the form of youtube videos for every known fault! You will not get this with a new car...
Your comment buy what you want and maintain it persuaded me to buy a 2010 4.4TD vogue with full service history and 90k miles today. Thanks for the advice as it’s straight talking.
Good vids, enjoying this channel. There's nothing quite like a RR/RRS in working order, they are wonderful to drive. To be fair though, I had a head gasket and both cats go on that same engine in a 2010 RRS AB after 60k miles with FSH. People don't make these stories up. My 2008 RRS 2.7, again with only 75,000 and FSH, was in the garage with something wrong every month. Buying these cars is a lucky dip. My Dad's 2017 RRS has been good as gold, he's done big mileage with no issues at all. I went to the garage more in 2 years of LR ownership than I did my other 11 years of motoring combined, and I've owned 4 Alfa Romeos!
There's nothing like driving a car, that puts a big smile on your face...😀🚗💨 My first car was a Citroen 2CV in 'bamboo' green. I painted the wheels with white emulsion paint...!!! 🤣 That car was such a joy to drive and made up for the low speed with the added fun factor...!!! 👌
I think you summed it up pretty well. I bought my 02 L322 (3.0 TDV6) with around 200k on the clock 8 years ago for 13000 Euros (about £11000) and since then I’ve spent about the same again on a reconditioned gearbox, new front air suspension, new discs all round, new handbrake assembly, new turbocharger, and various bits of trim. £22000 isn’t bad for 8 years of luxury motoring but the key is not to pay too much for the vehicle itself because it’s a buyers market, and then you won’t feel so bad about the maintenance and repair costs that will follow. So yes, if you love these cars, if what you drive matters to you, if you spend a significant portion of your time behind the wheel and want to turn it into quality time rather than lost time... then this makes sense. The downside is therefore not so much the running cost, it’s the inconvenience of being stranded in the middle of nowhere and possibly coming home with it on the back of a breakdown truck. I’ve had that twice but in 8 years even that is tolerable and can be minimised by regular servicing and maintenance. And choosing the right post-2005 model, which I didn’t, but will next time. Yes, based on my experience I will have another!
Hi Matt. As previously discussed. You and your channel inspired me for my choice of mid life crisis V8. I got an L322 4.4 sdv8 Westminster. I love it. I recommend them to any fellow diesel head and follower of your channel. Best Regards. John.
I bought my 2010 supercharged this summer for a song. A local guy was selling and it was a very clean car. More miles than I wanted 108k, but at such a good price, I couldnt pass it up. Originally I didn't want the supercharged but it is a kick to drive. So much power! Had to recharge AC, fix adaptive suspension and a few niggles but that comes with range rover ownership. I have a p38 and a few defenders as well. Great video!
Owned a 2010 5.0 Sport Supercharged. Changed a number of things such as rool-bars (more expensive than it sounds) and various other suspension parts. Also serviced the gearbox and changed its filter. The car had about 65,000 miles, the previous owner had changed the brakes. Did another 10,000 miles without any issues whatsoever (except for a dead battery but this can happen to any car). Thoroughly enjoyed it. Would do it again. The fuel economy is very bad, bordering on the horrendous. Keep that in mind.
Here in the 'States, we tend to get stuff a little later. So they didn't sell the L322 here until model-year 2003. We also never got any diesels (and only just recently got a diesel option on the L405). So, from 2003 to 2005, we had solely the BMW 4.4-liter V8. From 2006 to 2009, we had the Jaguar 4.4-liter N/A V8 and 4.2-liter supercharged units. And from 2010 to 2012 we had the Jaguar 5.0, in either N/A or supercharged guise.
Nice video. Small point - the LR Extended Warranty doesn't cover most parts that might actually wear out, and to keep it current you have to service the car at a main dealer. I recently dropped nearly 1k for a minor service on my D4 that included a new stop/start battery (including the £300 for a £60 battery - not covered). With an older L322 I think it'd be daft to pay main dealer service prices in the hope that your LR warranty is keeping you safe.
You are bang on the money.... If you are going to get 15 mpg you really have to love the car, the engine, the performance. That was my issue with my old IS200, it got terrible gas mileage but not much go. I always felt short changed. I get crap MPG from my GS300 but don't mind because it feels powerful, I feel it justifies the cost. Another good vid mate. Keep it up.
I bought a nicely cared for specimen of a 2012 l322 about 7 months ago. By far the best money I have spent on a vehicle. On a recent road trip, 1400 miles round, to Denver (mountains) , I got 21.6 mpg at around 65 mph avg speed. Economy isn't horrible... No problems yet, has had the air suspension and timing chain tensioners done. I am more concerned about scratching the paint than I am a breakdown.
12:30 Thats the best advice Ive heard from anyone! And changes are you’re going to spend more money on something you like to drive rather than something “sensible”. I’ve had “sensible” cars. They break as well. More often the cars you like are better built but more expensive to repair but don’t break as often. And when they are fixed it’s driving heaven instead of the dreary econobox same old. Best advice ever.
"Just buy the car you want and repair it when it brakes" I have honestly never heard this advice from no other car channel.....ever! and that's why I love it. By the way I will take a 5ltr in dark green with saddle leather interior please.
Its not very good advice, but if we all worry about breakdowns, we'd all be in 1.6 Corolla's wouldn't we. And how boring would that be.
@@HighPeakAutos It's brilliant advice if you want to avoid driving boring hatchbacks all your life. Some of the best cars I have ever owned have been the worst ones.
Or buy an extended warranty. If I had to repair my car every time it brakes then I wouldn't drive it.
EinkOLED Any aftermarket warranty you’d get for one of those wouldn’t be worth the paper it’s printed on.
Ask any AA driver/mechanic which cars ? break down more often, and they say that the RR would be top of their list. (AAA in USA). Even having an extended warranty, do you really want the RR to be at the mechanic’s shop more often than others?
May I just express my appreciation for the fact that the channel is whoop-free and I sincerely hope the decorum will continue.
That's the most fair and interesting RR review, that I've seen in a while. Superb work.
Thanks! It wasn't as thorough as it could be but I didn't want it to go on for hours haha
@@HighPeakAutos It was Bob on!! Take care dude.
Love these range rover videos , as a fifteen year old Land Rover nerd these videos make me happy with all the depression from school ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Thanks for watching! :)
don’t feel depressed buddy control yourself and enjoy day by day .
Don’t worry. You’re not the only car nerd at school!
I'm a car nerd too I'm in the 6th grade I'm the biggest bmw fan ever
I've got fsh L322 4.2 Supercharged. It has 65k miles on it since 2007. The pre interior facelift that the one you are driving in the video has. The Supercharged engine is superb. In 14 months the only issue is a messed up alternator that needed a rebuild. Fabulous cars.
4.2 supercharged engine is bulletproof...5.0 not so..even on the late svr still has engine problems
My l3204.2 supercharged done 300k now an still going strong 😊
Just sold my 2011 4.4 and it was an amazing car. Best driving/seat position in a car I've driven and that engine is unreal. Get a 2010 or newer, which is a better Ford engine and you are good to go. Just make sure you service it and do jobs as they are close to going wrong and hopefully you can avoid any big bills.... and after over 2 years of owning one, still cost me less in depreciation, tax, insurance and fuel than my E91 BMW.
Watching this one again! Yes, buy an L322! Love them! My 2020 is nice but IMO L322 is just perfection! Happy Friday! Cheers!
I have 2013 L320 RRS SC 5.0, puts smile on my face every time I step on it.
gotta admit you almost convinced me... and i am surprised how not-insanely-aged the interior looks, it has aged well so far
Bill Martin I totally agree. And they’re far better to drive than a Land Cruiser
This is amazing feedback. I'm having a pre inspection on an RR at the moment and I'm fairly scared but your comment makes me feel better!
“I didn’t know I needed a leather headlining until today” haha classic
Louis James 😂
Thank you! I am a proud owner of three l322's... i cannot let go one of them... daily driver, work horse, offroader and grand tourer... what a great car!
Worth mentioning that Land Rover extended warranty will only cover a car up to 10 years old, which might explain why the previous owner is selling it now!
I know for a fact this one is eligible for at least another year but good point
Only cover up to ,100,000
I've arrived in mine loads of times pmsl
@@HighPeakAutos warranty no longer covers snapped crank
Thank you for watching! Cheers :)
Yes, Yes, YES! Never say no to an L322! This video keeps appearing on my to watch list and I watch it again and again! Love your reviews! Keep it up. Looking for the next one!!
Yes! Thank you!
I had an old p38 that blew its head gasket 😂 - still loved it.
Haha me too! A 4.0SE
High Peak Autos and me 😂 lol
What a car.... and your review only serves to breed ownership desire for this slice of automotive amourousness...WELL DONE SIR!!!
Thanks!
It looks like you’re driving a living room from that angle 😂 I love it
Haha I know
I love your attitude to a used car.
Can’t wait to use it more and more
What a car! My mates, neighbours, second cousins friend had one of these.......
.... He loved it!!!! 😁
Haha pleased to hear it!! :)
I’ve been a Land Rover fan all my life, having owned many, now I’m considering buying an L322 4.4 tdV8 or maybe a L405 3.0 tdV6 if I could afford one, and great reviews like this are really helpful, thanks for taking the time to do them 😀

just bought a true beauty baltic blue 1 owner v8 supercharged 2011 fully dealer serviced. I stole it from the original owner for 5 grand. Only 98k miles. its so much better then my 2019 velar p380 hse.
Never seen you smile as much in a review looks like you really enjoyed that car 👍

You nailed it. I’m here in USA seriously considering a 2010-2012 HSE Supercharged. Why I’m here. Great reviews!
I just bought a 2010 vogue.. love it. Thanks for the videos definitely helped me make my decision easier. Box service next.
Cheers! Enjoy your new car :)
Vic Y How’s yours running??
Hey @High Peak Autos,
Running great so far!, I can average about 15 maybe 16mpg if I drive like a grandma and stick to the speed limit, but I don't.
Cheers.
Hi! Thanks for watching. Good choice of cars :)
Finally ,someone who knows what a Range Rover is ,👍😊
I've had numerous cars over the last 35 years, inc Discos, Porsche, BMWs but I love my L322 4.4TDV8 Westi. Drives really well, quick, comfortable and reasonably economical - recent 360 mile motorway journey averaged 38mpg. If you've got that 'itch' go ahead and scratch it, you might just love it and you're only here once - it's not a rehearsal!!!
How much did you have left in tank after
Amazing review.. I have the same RR as you have in the video.. I love it. Everyone asks the same questions about it. So annoying.
The best reviewer on the internet. You should work for BBC Top Gear if it ever comes back there is a space now one of the guys had awful accident not the guy most of us wanted to crash though. Keep up the great work
well, you made me do it! I now have an L322 Vogue 2010 3.6TDV8 - lovely (so far)
Richard Jackson pleased to hear it. Hope you enjoy it 👍🏻
Gorgeous engine, did you had any problems with it?
Exactly what I'm looking for now
"Just buy the car you want and repair it when it brakes" Amen.
Least hassle I ever had with a car was a 1988 Jaguar XJ-S V12.
Most expensive was a approved used BMW 530d.
I'll take a 2012 RR L322 Westminster TDV8 in aintree green with cream leather if you see one.

Great review as I knew it would be. The high point for me was the reference to Mrs. Bucket.

I bought disco 4 after watching your videos on RUclips and now wanna buy ranger rover this one the video and once again thanks for your videos. They help us much with the knowledge
If you can find a land cruiser 200 series around, do a review. Would love to hear your thoughts!
MaasaiGainz On Cars definitely 😉
Simply the best 4x4 ever I love mine ! range rover ticks every box but its unreliable money pit !
BusThrash Thanks for your comments and thanks for watching. I’ve got a 98 XJR too 😍
@@HighPeakAutos So not only do you make decent videos with common sense advice you also have great taste in motors! It would be absolutely awesome to see a video review in your style of it on the channel!
I've got a few videos planned with it. Its currently having a few jobs done
I've had it for 3 or 4 years but it was looking a little sorry for itself
@@HighPeakAutos They are fantastic cars. I developed my taste in cars from my family, both my dad and grandad owning old XJs. I loved them so much my first car was a Jaguar X308 XJ Sport, which after it sadly met it's demise got replaced by this XJR I have now. Will happily run it until the wheels fall off or until it bankrupts me!
This comes as perfect timing as I'm looking to get a Range/similar
@bill Bloggs Think I'd go for the 4.2 SC instead of the big 5.0 just so I get 24mpg or be somewhat sensible and get either a 3.6 or 4. 4 TDV8. I don't do that many miles so it wouldnt bother me so much
I drive a 2013 Range Rover Sport Autobiography with the same 5 litter supercharged.. truly a magnificent engine. relentless power.... great review...
Thanks!
I've had both the L322 and the L405 and after going from L322 to L405, I am back to an L322.... There really is nothing like an L322.
Can I ask why? I'm planning on either buying an 2012 L322 or an L405. Having tried both I'm kind of happier in the L322 but my rationale wants the L405.
L4005 doesn’t have the regal presence of the L322. It’s curvy, glitzy and feminine. While the L322 is a sophisticated brute.
Thanks for that! Really appreciate it :)
Pleased to hear it. I'm sick of all the negativity around RR's - my experience with them has always been good

That's why I love this Rover.
Cheers. Gordon

Great choice! Enjoy it
"your seats make a funny noise" I'm laughing, thank you.
Daniel Marshall 😂 Thanks
12:49 - best advice one can ever give or hear regarding cars. Golden advice. 🏆
would only ever get one if I first bought my own petrol station
It's a fact, this car is not for low-life people.
Not that bad on fuel
I still have 175k mile p38 4.6HSE back home but I'd really want to try l322 because for me the p38 has still been the pinnacle of range rover
I've had lots of P38's. I've always liked them
All ranger rovers are the bollocks, like an addiction. You know you shouldn’t but once your hooked your hooked. Car has soul. And soul costs money.
Louis James I agree. I’m hooked
High Peak Autos me too. They are a buzz car.
Hahaha yeah! I only drive Land Rovers, my wife loves her Freelander2 and I love my RR SPORT
Exactly! Good point. To be fair, all the points you mentioned could happen on any 11 year old 140k car
I agree! In terms of road manners, you can't compare the Landcruiser to the RR. The Range Rover is in another league
Thanks!
range rover are like marmite you love it or hate it
me i am on my3 range rover as a daily driver you cant beat them for comfort on a long haul
Congratulations on achieving the 100,000! It’s well deserved!!
Thank you so much!!
No, no you shouldn’t. Unless you’ve got deep pockets.
Enjoy it! :)
@@HighPeakAutos thanks brother!
That's a BMW 4.4 M52 engine, also used in the E38/E39 5 and 7 Series. Not a bad engine but the timing chain guides will need changing eventually.

The reason I don't like these is because the shape has been around so long that you are more likely to find on a council estate with blacked out windows and drug dealer 22" wheels.
You're right. Too many people have ruined them with poor taste
It doesn't make much sense....and I want one soooo much!
I know! Me too :)
Just bought a 2010 4.4 TDV8 based on your videos. I absolutely love it and I’ve caught the RR bug, I’ve notified my financial advisor in advance!
Great choice!
I have a 2008 supercharged and love it. I am the second owner and so far trouble free but the first owner had a rebuilt transmission installed for $8,000 Canadian dollars so I am rather sceptical that you could get a replacement transmission installed for 2,000 pounds.
I have been thinking about one of these recently got to say this might be one of the simplest and best videos I’ve seen by anyone selling cars excellent seems honest realistic can’t really ask for any more well done you
Glad you enjoyed it!
I agree!
Your comment buy what you want and maintain it persuaded me to buy a 2010 4.4TD vogue with full service history and 90k miles today. Thanks for the advice as it’s straight talking.
Congratulations! Enjoy it
Good vids, enjoying this channel.
There's nothing like driving a car, that puts a big smile on your face...😀🚗💨
My first car was a Citroen 2CV in 'bamboo' green.
I painted the wheels with white emulsion paint...!!! 🤣
That car was such a joy to drive and made up for the low speed with the added fun factor...!!! 👌
DoubleDeckerAnton The 2CV is always hilarious to drive
@@HighPeakAutos ....yes it was great, i always remember the interior door handles coming off and a small pool of water on the floor when it rained...😂
I agree! Its a luxury car. People should expect some bills
Had one with 10.000 miles on the clock, most reliable car on earth, had 0 issues with it
Love your videos matt all of em like the way you say it as it is keep em coming and thank you
Thanks, will do!
That grid on your face is infectious , makes me want that car !
Do one 😬
Hi Matt. As previously discussed. You and your channel inspired me for my choice of mid life crisis V8. I got an L322 4.4 sdv8 Westminster. I love it. I recommend them to any fellow diesel head and follower of your channel. Best Regards. John.
Very nice! Enjoy
They're great aren't they. Sounds like you've got the LR bug :)
I agree with you. I genuinely haven't found them to be any less reliable than any other car Ive owned. Youre right about the fuel though
Another awesome video from one of the most entertaining car youtubers.
Thanks!
Good tip!
I bought a 2011 Super Charged Range Rover and love it! Thanks for the commentary.
Good for you! Enjoy it
You are bang on the money....
Keep it up.
I have a GS430.
Exactly! Cheers :)
Great choice! On a run, the fuel economy isn't too bad. Same is true of the 4.2S/C I had too. Hope you enjoy your new car :)
Christian Olsson That’s right. I didn’t think it was great advice but life is too short to drive boring cars
