The English definition for the word “Sabbatical”means to be granted an extended period of time off work to study or travel. It makes too much sense now… keep doing ya thing “Sabbatical” 💯 Love Suriname 🇸🇷 from 🇸🇴!!
A sabbatical is a Holy Pilgrimage or Journey. It comes from the word sabbath, or Hebrew word Shabbat. As in the 4th commandment, Remember the sabbath day, “to keep it holy” Christians are expected to go on sabbatical at least once in there lifetime but are encouraged to go on sabbatical at least once every seven years. Going on sabbatical also made them it a protected time. Meaning employers could not punish employees for there absence in any way and if any attempt was made to do so employers would be punished harshly. It also meant the persons going on sabbatical couldn’t be held responsible for occurrences due to them not being present. It also means all people are to preform due diligence to protect the persons home and family members while they are absent and that all are to respect the terms of sabbatical without exception. While a person or family was on sabbatical they would journey to distant places visiting holy places, learning about as much as possible about the places, people, history, and other details.
@@blususpect I am American. In America we use the term vacation for that. The meaning of the word Sabbatical is purely a Christian pilgrimage. There is no viable legitimate secular usage of the word.
Man, thank you for your videos. You have helped me more than you will know. Just being able to throw your stuff on when I’ve had a rough day and know it’s going to be raw and pure content and maybe even see you get yourself out of a tough spot or meet some characters eases my mind. Stay safe, be well and keep the genuine connections rolling. You’re a great ambassador for America and I hope the people you meet end up having a different perspective on some of us white boys.
Nice. Glad u r visiting Suriname. People IN Suriname are very friendly and they all live peaceful among each other. Have fun. Veel plezier!! 😄 Yummy food too!! Looking forward to your adventures in Su!

Cool Tommy. Thanks for taking us along. I suspect you will find Paramaribo a bit more comfy. Also, I might suggest you try a fast long canoe Taxi trip on the Suriname River to some of the Amerindian villages. Fast fun and very local. A bit like what people think of a Amazon adventure. I would still recommend Lethem in Guyana, Boa Vista and on to Mananas, and then perhaps Rio. You might Find Rio pretty familiar and worth an extended stay.
Very attractive man traveling alone on a not too popular destination along with low key interaction with the locals. That is what make it unique and intriguing. Always looking forward to watching 👀 your adventures.

Would love to know how it's possible financially. I hear people say live cheap but the flights to different destinations must be expensive so never really understood that.
@@dadventurer36 , you still need cash. Biggest cost I’ve encountered is getting to the place you want to go. Generally non western countries are cheaper to travel in than the US for example. People blow 10k on a trip to Disney world with the family but could do the same trip to Egypt and have a much better time. When I was younger and poorer I rented a room from a buddy, had a solid middle class job and saved my money. I would spend a month at a time traveling in cheap countries by myself and had a hell of a time. Nowadays I have a career where I make residuals. Work my ass off for 3 months and travel the rest of the time. My biggest money saver was staying away from American girls btw… ended up marrying one of my African tour guides. Past 20 years her and I have been traveling together.
dat hotel was robbing you blind!!!! Thanks for the upload, 10 years living out of Guyana and this was really good to see some familiar places and hear my accent again.
I can't stop thinking about when you say "xxx is a country most people don't know exists". Because, I think it says more about your experiences growing up in the US (as a country famously bad at teaching world geography) more than anything else. I'm a swede and I think it's hard to find someone here, or in any western Europe for that matter, who hasn't heard about Suriname, Guyana or French Guyana. So what you really should say is "countries most AMERICANS don't know exists". Ps. Im 100% not saying that YOUR geography skills are bad, just saying that you might think very few know of those countries because your "bench mark" is your younger self (in school) and probably friends, family in the US etc. etc. Keep up the great videos!
@Ronald Crist That is true. Very few people in the world know anything about geography. It is not only a US thing, it is all over the world. People can barely locate the country where they live on a world map. It is a sad thing in these so called "modern days", with all the advancements in transportation and the internet.
