We just called them Dirty South Beats or Memphis Rap instrumentals. In the case of what I labeled them back then, 666Mafia/Project Pat/Young Buck Type Beats. Back then, I sold beats on Shadowville, which was one of the main beat sales websites back then. Crazy how times have changed. I don't hate "Drift Phonk" per-say, but Soudiere and DJ Smokey are the real ones carrying the torch now. They seem to have a real pulse on the soul of Dirty South Beats while still being creative and making their own lanes. I have massive respect for them and am glad to see they are doing monsterously well.
