One really important thing to remember when heating sugar in a pot with a liquid (usually water) is to only stir the slightest bit at the very beginning to dissolve the crystals, and then do NOT stir again. At all. It changes the state of the sugar and hardens it. I know it's considered common knowledge, but if you didn't know, just remember that.

thank you for sharing and normalizing failure. a lot of social media gives the impression that everyone is perfect (although unintentional) because we only see their completed, perfect results. thank you for sharing with us your failures and learning process, as it is very very important to learn that failure is a part of life, and that it is okay to fail.
First off. Your videos are great. Inspired me to make dragons beard. Here’s a tip I figured out. Pulling makes it break and stretch unevenly. Twisting the candy back and forth is much better. When you double the ring twist both ways then rotate the ring 90degrees and twist. Also do it fast. And when you think too much starch. Add a ton more. I studied the makers before I attempted it. But your recipe. Putting it in the fridge helped as well. Thank you again.
I loved your determination and how you showed the mess ups! Sometimes you watch these and people look like magicians so it's nice o see the realities and that when we mess up it's totally normal. I also loved how excited you got when you blew the sugar. That was adorable.

Amazing. Have you made this since? What is your fave candy o make? I just finally got the courage to make sugar glass the 1st time today and amazed my kids! I may try to sculp it next time. This time just a sheet. I'm looking at the temperature and this is almost like pulled taffy except starting at the solid state? Love the positivity of the failures
Good work! Watching the 'pros' make this stuff at the market is incredible, they're so fast and they move so deftly! I can't imagine doing it at home! When I've had it, it's always stuffed with crushed peanuts and sesame seeds. It reminds me of eating cocoons, but sweet lol.
I’m not sure if this could be considered a hard time recipe but I think you’ll find somewhere to put it. You should take a look at the English heritage channel and they have a how to make recipes the Victorian way featuring mrs crocombe. Amazing channel and you could try recreating some of her recipes 😊
When i made this i put my oven on 425 and pull it on a baking tray on my oven to keep the temperature up in my house, they usually have lights that keep the candy warm so it doesn’t crack.i kept feeling like it was the syrups fault but it ends up being the fact that it cools down too much and snaps, if you keep it warm as well as around the same temperature its okay. We pulled ours sooo many times i was shocked some strands were a little thick but no major breaking. Even a candy lamp, or a heat pad, even warming the corn starch in the oven before hand really helps.
Hi Emmy, I apologize if this question is too personal, but I was wondering about your red necklace, it looks pretty and I was wondering if it has a charm on it? Thank you-Mary
Crazy stuff! You lost me right away on the count tho. You have one ring-double it...into 4? Huh? Also I'm surprised they don't use powdered sugar. Which is sugar and corn starch. Oh well. Never heard of this before and its so fun to watch you experiment! TY Emmy. Have a great weekend.😎🍭
Laura Metheny I think technically it's supposed to be 1 to 2 rings to 4 because those "rings" eventually become strands. Or at least that's how she explained it in the beginning and how it is in other videos. Not sure why she was counting 1 to 4 instead later on in her video
Icicle she's not wrong. The two loops are made up of four strands. Take a rubber band and you cut them on both ends and you get two rubber band strands. Same concept here.
12345678abracadabra - No, it's not the same concept, she's not cutting it at both ends, she's just splitting it into many parts and then rolling them up. It's the same amount of fibers throughout the hoop, it doesn't double by getting cut up.
Ho Ho Ho to you, funny lady! You always have the super fun, super weird, super cute foodie experiments, and I simply ADORE you for this fact of life! thank you for sharing and normalizing failure. a lot of social media gives the impression that everyone is perfect (although unintentional) because we only see their completed, perfect results. thank you for sharing with us your failures and learning process, as it is very very important to learn that failure is a part of life, and that it is okay to fail.
So cool! Love that you were enjoying the journey with us and not talking at us! Thanks for bringing us along! ,
"Deedeedee, driving my car! Okay, stop it."
Love you Emmy!
I love your patience.
Well done Emmy! Never give up!
Thanks!😅
Hello 👋 how are you doing
i love how when she started she turned one ring into 2 and called it 4 lol
I was like what?
Because its 1,2,4,8,16,32 and so on but when she said 4 i was like
"Women... i think you got a 4/10 on a math test"
Im sorry if im mean but im the person that will tell ya the truth😅
She's counting strands not rings, so 2xrings=strands

Ummm, the word "women" means more than one woman. Emmy is only one woman.
@@lisahinton9682 No it means older Girl or Muttered Girl and Women can also mean more then one women but I meant one women like one girl
I thought it was made from old honey?!
Pretty sure its just preference
You can make it from both, aged honey is just one of your options.
Honey doesn’t get old 😑
In korea, they make it with honey.
@@@shutup2813 how does honey NOT get old?? Of course it gets old. Its old but its still good, old is not synonymous with bad. Just like how you can eat old cheese.
Emmy please do a video on making authentic matcha tea using Japanese traditional way of making it if you haven't already done so. Thanks
I love to cook. I am a chef at heart. And I love to experience other cultures; no matter how strange the delicacy. Such as mealworm tacos. And all your videos are so inspiring. And when you do fail you have this Bob Ross demeanor about it. "It is not a mistake. There are no such things as mistakes. Just happy accidents." - Bob Ross
Keep giving inspiration. This world needs it now more than ever.
Amazing. Have you made this since? What is your fave candy o make? I just finally got the courage to make sugar glass the 1st time today and amazed my kids! I may try to sculp it next time. This time just a sheet. I'm looking at the temperature and this is almost like pulled taffy except starting at the solid state? Love the positivity of the failures
this is so satisfaying to watch. please do foods from Philippines..that would be very amazing..😍😍😍 lots of love emmy from the Philippines..
Love watching this, however the touch and sound of Cornflour makes me kringe....
In comparison, what does it sounds like to you?
It would be cool to see your kids trying the foods you make. I love your videos too !!!♡♡
I definitely understand not wanting your children in your videos available to the public.
She's so smart, bubbly, pretty and cute! She literally stands out. She's so awesome!!!
Emmy is so calm omg! It's just something about the way she talks that gives me such comfort 🥰❤ and the hair omg yes!
Can the whole world just be like Emmy please?
I want an Emmy/Corrine collab
Lexi Davis that would be so cool
Who's Corrine?
Ki Ji Hoon she's from thread bangers

Good work! Watching the 'pros' make this stuff at the market is incredible, they're so fast and they move so deftly! I can't imagine doing it at home! When I've had it, it's always stuffed with crushed peanuts and sesame seeds. It reminds me of eating cocoons, but sweet lol.
Hello 👋 how are you doing
Am I the only who who loves the way she say delightful so delicately like wow!!! Great personality
I’m not sure if this could be considered a hard time recipe but I think you’ll find somewhere to put it. You should take a look at the English heritage channel and they have a how to make recipes the Victorian way featuring mrs crocombe. Amazing channel and you could try recreating some of her recipes 😊
Emmy, you really are such a geek and that’s just one of the numerous admirations I have for you❤️‼️❤️‼️❤️‼️
In Turkish we call this Pişmaniye or Tel Helva and i didnt even know it was known all around the world in different names.
In Turkey don't they also put pistachios on it?
They do!
You have always been so wonderful at describing falvors so well.
Hi Emmy, I apologize if this question is too personal, but I was wondering about your red necklace, it looks pretty and I was wondering if it has a charm on it? Thank you-Mary
MLK-JEN she did a q and a video where she tells about the necklace.
Laura Metheny - Yep, her counting was off. Still impressive though!
And she even says it at the start "one loop becomes two, becomes 4.."
In the middle east it's called " ghazel el banat" which means girl's hair
I can't believe you made it by hand
Ho Ho Ho to you, funny lady!
You always have the super fun, super weird, super cute foodie experiments, and I simply ADORE you for this fact of life! Thanks for always being such a charming ray of sunshine, and willing to mess up your kitchen for our entertainment!
Playing with your/my/our food 4EVA!
That’s a lot of patience & work. She did great! Very worth it. They are yummy 😋
Omg! You did a great job! Who cares if it took a few tries, that's amazing! Well done, I don't know if I would have stuck with it lol
HOW DO YOU LOVE THAT SOUND??? I CANNOT STAND IT! Gives me the heeby jeebies 😱😖😖
Same it makes me look like I belong in a wheelchair 🤮🤮🤮
JustAMessenger lol same
Ya oookkk
JustAMessenger what sound
@@Lyt110 The crunchy, scrunchy sound of rubbing things together with cornstarch.
You describe flavors and textures so beautifully! ❤️❤️
Hello 👋 how are you doing
Been trying to make some, from one recipe it said to only do 226 degree Fahrenheit, and just an overly sticky mess 🙃
But now I know it's suppose to be over 260 degree Fahrenheit. Thank you so much beautiful!
I love that candy. When I lived in Korea, Insadong Insadong the historic district has several shops and enjoyed watching the candy was made. If you keep them in the freezer, it tastes better. Thanks for attempting to make it!
Being a mom creates that kind of patience and determination.
Good job ! 👌
I’m impressed with the math skills lol! like she is just incredible. and amazing I cannot wait to try this
You shouldn’t be. Her match was off from the start. 🤦♂️
LOL the fail sound is so funny. P.S. Ho ho ho.
That's what I was about to say, love that sound lol
Stormwatcher 🤣
You are sooo brave. What a process! Great job!
Easy but yet tricky. Thank you for sharing your fails for us to learn from.
Just had this in Japan for the first time. So glad you can do this at home, thanks Emmy

Hello 👋 how are you doing
I love your positivity in every mistake you made I am 12 years old and I love baking cooking any thing that includes making things and one dab I hope to make this!
This is the first video that I saw of yours. I was hooked. I can’t believe it’s been 4 years. 🥰
The sound when she was forming the circle 😩
That’d from the corn starch. I love that sound! 😍😍😍 And I love eating raw corn starch.
