I’ve already watched several times. Crumbs are my favorite thing to sew. I just like looking at your scraps and seeing if I have any of the same pieces. I also like to listen to you talking. I hope you make more crumb videos just sewing and talking about nothing important. It’s like I have a friend sewing with me.
Aw, that is the most wonderful comment - thank you SO much!!! I'm so pleased to hear you enjoyed watching and I'm always amazed at how much videos can bring the online sewing community together. I completely get what you're saying and feel connected to my wonderful viewers and also other sewing channels in the same way! Happy stitching, my sewing friend! 🙋♀️😍
Well, Mira, this was the most amazing surprise! I loved to have listened to your voice (as I told you before I love videos in which people talk) and I think you have such soothing voice, perfect for a tutorial! It doesn’t show any sign of being nervous or hesitant! No one would say it was your first time (even if you had to have done some previous attempts, which is completely normal). I didn’t know English wasn’t your first language and you speak it so well that I thought it was. However when you said that, I tried to guess what’s your first language. Are you German? Because I learnt German for four years (I absolutely loved and still love it, although I forgot most of it, because I don’t speak it) and I think I noticed a little bit of a German accent. I love this crumb quilting. I think I am going to try it by hand, not specifically because I don’t have my sewing machine, but because I have some ideas of how to make it my style 😉 I had already watched some videos on crazy quilting and I was fascinated 😲 I hope you continue doing a voice over, because you sound so calming and nice ♥️💙💚🩷🩵🤎💛💜🤍🧡
I feel so much better about the voice over after reading your truly wonderful comments - thank you so much for all the encouragement!! I think I’ll stick with the voice overs as I feel I can get more information across that way. I might try to record speech at the time of filming as that might feel a bit more natural rather than adding it later, trying to remember what I was thinking at the time lol.. And yes, your guess was correct! I am indeed German 🇩🇪, but have been in the UK for many years now. Not long enough to loose the accent altogether or forget certain words sometimes (and then I can’t remember them in either language 😂🤯🤷♀️). I’m totally looking forward to seeing your hand stitched take on crumb quilting- I’m really intrigued by what you might come up with! I’ll keep a look out on IG.. I know it’ll be beautiful and I hope enjoyable for you to sew! ❤️🙋♀️❤️🙋♀️❤️🪡🧵
@@bluebellhillcrafts I have visited Germany 🇩🇪 three times! Loved the country. I only noticed the accent when you said that English isn’t your first language. I think German people speak English very well. I won’t be making the quilt just now, because I have other projects, but when I do, I’ll tag you 🤗🤗🤗😘😘😘
Oh yes, please do tag me! You could start collecting all those scraps in a box as you go through your other projects and sometimes, when you need a break from them you could stitch just a couple of scraps together. That's the beauty of this, you can do as little or as much as you feel like and then put it away again for a while while you work on other things. I sometimes enjoy a bit of crumb quilting when I don't have the energy for something bigger or something I need to concentrate on. Sorting those scraps out and putting them in order is so relaxing and almost therapeutic.. ☺️🪡🧵❤️❤️❤️
Me too! I always have multiple projects on the go - sometimes it gets to the stage where I get a bit overwhelmed and then go on a 'finishing spree'.. But generally, it's nice to have a few different projects and be able to work on what you fancy that day..! 😍😍😍🪡🧵
Just discovered your scrap quilt video and this one and it is the voice over that has made me subscribe: you have a very calming voice and I really appreciate the explanations of what you are doing and why. Explanations are what help me (new quilter) learn and improve. Thank you!
Thank you so, so much for your lovely comments- they mean more than you know! I still struggle with the voice recordings (they definitely do not come naturally to me 🤣) and often record several takes because I keep getting my words in a twist.. So, hearing that the voice recording was the main reason you subscribed has made my day! Thank you so much for following along and I hope to ’see’ you again soon 🙋♀️😍
Vielen lieben Dank, Silke!
You’re very welcome ☺️ I’m so pleased to hear you’ve enjoyed the video and I hope it’s given you some inspiration on how to tackle your scraps pile and put those tiny treasures to good use! Have fun 🤩
Enjoyed watching your video. A perfect start to my day is early morning, a fresh cup of coffee and 1 hour of crumb quilting. It is therapy. Good for one's soul.
Yes, yes, yes! I agree with all of that! Never underestimate the benefits of sewing and stitching for one’s mental wellbeing.. Thank you so much for watching and I look forward to ‘seeing’ you again soon! Happy sewing 🪡🧵😍
It's so much fun I could spend hours doing this (and often am lol..). I can definitely recommend this if you have lots of scraps! Hope you'll have fun, too! 🙋♀️😍🧵🪡
Aw, that is so kind of you to say, what wonderful comments and they're so motivating! A big thank you to you for watching and for your lovely words!! ☺️ I'll definitely be carrying on - still learning along the way lol..
This is awesome Mira. It builds slowly, piece by piece, and looks so cool when it's all together. Now I want to make some "new scrappy cloth" but Florida is calling!!! LOL! I'll check it out when I get home. 🩷🪡🧵💙
Have a wonderful trip and I hope you sneaked a small sewing project into your luggage (along with your watercolours & other crafty bits..)! 🤭😍 I keep a ‘crumb quilting’ bag and chuck all those little scraps in there, sewn together at various stages in the process and every so often I take it out and have a bit of a session. It’s great for a quick sewing ‘fix’ as you can just as easily put it all away again until next time. Have a lovely break and enjoy some rays ☀️😍
Excellent video! I make crumb blocks exactly the same way. If you have an old sheet, that makes a perfect backing to make pet blankets with the crumb blocks. I do use wonky pieces too. Depends on the scraps I have.
Yay, a fellow crumb quilter! ☺️ What a great idea to make pet blankets - that is a fabulous make-ahead gift for Christmas, actually! You might have just given me some inspiration there.. thank you SO much for sharing that and for taking the time to write. Much appreciated!
@@bluebellhillcrafts I am going to try to use old t-shirts for the batting part of the dog blankets. I've only used the crumb top and the old sheet so far.

A simply wonderful tutorial and your fabrics are so pretty ❣️This puts me in mind of years and years ago when not a single scrap was wasted. I love that mind set and aesthetic and the way that you can literally make fabric and then all the things you can make from it. My favorite tip was when you laid a quilting square ruler on the fabric. Your voice over was lovely. Have a wonderful day!♥️
That is amazing feedback, I'm so happy to read your comments, THANK YOU! 🙏😍 Yes, I do agree it's a good mindset to have to make the most of a resource and not waste an ounce if you can help it! Wishing you a wonderful day, too, and I hope it'll entail a spot of sewing at some point! Have fun - and thanks again for taking the time to write your lovely message, much appreciated! 🙋♀️💕
First time watching you and I wouldn't have known it was your first voice over. I enjoyed hearing your commentary, you have a nice voice to listen to while I stitched. Thank you.
Thank you SO much for your kind words, they mean a lot! I've done a few more voice recordings by now, but am not sure they're getting any easier (yet).. There's quite a bit of footage that lands on the cutting room floor, so to speak lol.. Your comments are very encouraging, much appreciated! Happy stitching! 🙋♀️
If you make snowball blocks, the cut off corners can be later incorporated into crumb strips. 🍄🍄 Thank you for your video. You have a wonderful way of speaking. Quite soothing like at a quilting bee with neighbors.
What kind and wonderful feedback, thank you so much! ☺️🙏 Yes, I do save all my tiny little triangles and have a tin full of them now. Great idea to incorporate them into crumb quilting, that will give you some interesting angles in the finished piece! Happy sewing 🙋♀️

Très joli travail. A la fin votre pochette est particulièrement joli et votre travail donne beaucoup d'idées. De plus vos associations dans les couleurs et motifs sont très réussies. Merci de votre partage.
