I've used 91% alcohol patiently applied with a pointed crafting Q tip to reduce the dark washes on these models -- slow and steady always wins the race!
Fun Fact: All of the Y-Wings seen in the Climactic Battle against the Death Star in “A New Hope” and “Rogue One” were obtained in the Star Wars Rebels Season 3 episode: “Steps Into Shadow: Part 2” Where the Ghost Crew steals them from an Imperial Outer Rim Outpost named “Reklam Station”.
I have the old version and i like it more than the new, you can see the details on the old one better, i like see the pipelines going across the ships top compared to the new one where you cant see much because of it being mostly black.ill keep the old version
Really like the new version. Had the 90s version way back and was never happy with the stubby and distorted proportions - the new one seems to be using the Lucasfilm 3D scan of the studio model.
Can't wait to get this I've got 3 on order with Amazon. The ship and figures look amazing. I'm kinda going they may the armored clone wars era version with the gunner position. 😊
Looks phenomenal, not a fan of the detached wings as they don’t seem to stay in well though. Incredible version of Gold Leader and the weathering on the Y-Wing is incredible too. Also there’s a sideways opening cockpit and torpedoes. One of my favourites from Series 4!
@@kmtanner04 Seems like a general issue actually. Mine along with other review videos i've seen have this issue too. You just have to really firmly but carefully push it in until you hear a click. You'll know when it's connected properly when there's no gap and it looks straight/aligned. Love it otherwise lol
A Number of These Vehicles Have Reduced Prices and Multiple Copies of Them! Some Are Hard to Find Vehicles Like The Millennium Falcon of Which Also Has Been Reduced In Price!
I agreed!!! I had the same problem. It may be because of the wash that’s on there. It just makes it a little too thick and sticky. I haven’t found a second to try it with.
Yea. I would say the finer details on the MGS are finer. I find the action fleet stuff now to seem a little bulky. Otherwise yes it’s very similar. The pilot is a massive improvement though.
I hope we get a BTL-B Y-Wing from the Clone Wars at some point. I know the classic style Y-Wing is definitely more iconic but I always preferred the TCW design with the more armored up look and the bubble turret behind the cockpit. Plus there are a couple of different color variations they could do. There's the standard yellow version, there was a red version they used at a couple of points, or the 501st Y-Wing Rex and Ahsoka used in the S7 finale.
This will make a fine addition to my spaceship collection

Love this fact! Thanks for the info. Rebels is so awesome!
Great review Kevin! I am so stoked to someday find the Y-wing in the wild. Thanks for the comparison with the AF Y-wing.
Glad to do it! Definitely a cool addition. And great advancement from the older version.

Wow had no idea the torpedos were removeable! My biggest complaint was that it didn’t include a dropping “bomb” like the Kenner diecast and toy.
Just got mine a few days ago. I’m still debating on opening it!
Do it!!!! It is awesome out of the package. Again be careful with putting those engines on. Hopefully your is easier than mine was.

Totally agree! I just wish the wings were easier to get on and they snapped into place a little better. The pilot is incredible!
Fantastic review!
Thanks! Not quite the production value you of you review but I try to do the best with the set up I have. Thanks for the comment!

For sure! It’s a great model for sure. I have a bunch on order at Amazon also. I kind of want a whole wing of these but don’t have the space for it.
@kmtanner04 Yeah, my max is 3, though I might go down to 2. Space is definitely getting to be a premium.
I always thought these particular Y wings were operated by a two man crew because of battlefront 2. I wish it was that way.
During the clone wars it was and the original design/concept was two pilots. The final version, at least the one in A New Hope, was only 1 pilot.
Gold 5 to red leader, lost Tyree and lost hutch. I copy, gold 5. They came from behind!

For sure. I wish the wings fit together a little easier. Not sure why it’s so difficult but I may have just been the version I got.

@@imadubsfan1 maybe mine had too much wash on it. I definitely could not get it to click in.
Finally! A proper ~1:100 scale Y-Wing (the Action Fleet one was OK; the Disney Diecast one was only marginally better).
I agree. I really like the scale as well. The details are great and the pilot is AMAZING! Really incredible the detail on the helmet.

Looks great, but I cannot get those wings on

Is the B wing out yet ?
No the b wing was slated for series 5 which should be out in early 2024.
Hmmm. Really not a lot of improvement on the action fleet version. The cockpit looks better. And closer in scale. But that' s it.

Actionfleet x wing looks better Imo
Put some respect on gold leaders name. That Jon "dutch" Vander to you
Hahaha!
The proportion looks weird. The quality is so cheap. Pre-order canceled. Thanks for the vid.
The washes are real hit and miss iv noticed .

Agreed! I hope we get one of those also. Definitely a lot of repaints that can be done.
