@@chemicalmayfly5932 I know right?! 😫I have serious physical health problems that damaged my mental health, but I feel like due to all the medical bills due to my physical health and content doctors I see that my dad won’t be able to afford for me I see a therapist. I know he’ll pay for it, but I don’t want to stress him out anymore with even more bills
Tell that to schools. Preaching to take care of your physical health, saying they care about your mental health, but not actually caring about your mental health.
@MazzaRC My mom’s a psychiatrist, and that’s exactly the way she’s always looked at it, and presented it to people struggling with the stigma surrounding getting help! As she puts it, your mind’s a part of you the same way your physical body’s a part of you, and can get sick just like your physical body can-there’s no difference! Seeing it this way was something I always appreciated, because it does so much to destigmatize mental health issues and getting therapy!
My dad has struggled with depression in the past. He’s talked often about how depression has sometimes convinced him that everything positive that happened to him was luck, but everything negative in his life was his fault.
Wait.. 1. I thought it was just me 2. Could it be wrong? Didn't know that was a consideration Haha, jk.. hoping your father's doing better.. and I'm on that journey now, of understanding the statement you mentioned 🙂 Cheers to you for mentioning it - gave me words to express it ❤️
Appreciate you talking about this! These thought patterns can definitely cause issues but if you learn to conquer them can make you really successful!!
"I've started therapy." I immediately hit the "thumbs up" on hearing you say that. I've had 2 amazing therapists in my life who helped me navigate through extremely difficult and challenging situations. The result was a course change for my life that steered me in a positive direction. My life is in a wonderful place as a direct result of these 2 therapists. Can't recommend this enough!
You gotta keep surrounding yourself with the positive message until you begin to really believe it. Treat yourself with the same compassion and empathy you afford others. BE KINDER TO YOURSELF.
@@madhusmitapatra4817 You don't need to deserve it. That is grace, and it is what true love is about. You are worthwhile whether you deserve it or not. Jesus showed love to us in his condescension to live and die among us. His victory over evil for our sake demonstrates our worth as people, not because we deserve it, but because we are made in God's image. Christian hope is the centre of healthy self-value. It might take time to change our thinking about ourselves, but it is worth starting the journey.
Engineering grad here, life gets much better once you get that degree. Most coworkers are pretty chill and don’t care what score you got on your senior design project lmao
I’m currently taking a mental health break from nursing school. Covid has railroaded me and I need to recover. My little boy needs me to get better. Thank you for reminding me that it’s ok not to be ok, but also not to let myself stay there. Thanks for sharing your story as well. ❤️
We say all the time that "Just because someone has it 'worse', doesn't make your pain invalid." The opposite is also true. Just because someone has done 'more' or is 'better', doesn't mean you aren't good enough!
I just started therapy last week and one of the goals we decided on was, “trying to be happy in the moment.” Stop thinking “I’ll be happy when this happens or when this happens, etc.” It’s really hard to be positive, but it’s a lot harder to be unhappy.
@I’m Legit Subbbing To Everyone Who Subbbs To Me stop dude this person had mental health issues and we don’t need you bringing them back by ur Bot text
Thank you so much for sharing! This is how I explain it to my clients. I like to call them A.N.T.S- Automatic Negative ThoughtS. Our minds pretty much make stuff up and keep us isolated. When those thoughts come up, it's best to challenge them. Tell those negative thoughts to "prove it!" These thoughts are never based in reality. Some of the most common ANTS are fortune telling and mind reading. These things are very subtle and we all have them. Just remember, you can't prove something that hasn't happened yet (fortune telling or predicting the future).... and the only way to prove what someone else is thinking is by asking them. If you can't prove the negative thoughts correct with real evidence, then you toss them in the garbage. It's difficult, but this must be done every single time the thoughts come up. They're meant to distort reality and keep you isolated in a dark well. I wish you well on your journey to manage your anxiety and panic attacks.
In my society, anyone who is suffering from depression, anxiety, stress, anger issues or anything like that is labeled as 'mental case' or ' pagal(mental in urdu)' especially by many(not all) older and middle aged people. The new generation is really more understanding and helpful. Watching u say that it's normal to seek help is relieving.
I am psychologist with 20 years of clinical experience. I am delighted you posted this video. In my experience health care professionals are frequently emotionally allergic to going into therapy. Medicine and nursing are tough and over time you have to develop armor to deal with all the stress. But that armor also make it difficult for helpers to take that step and get some help for themselves. Therapy is tough in and of itself. Giving up negative thoughts feelings and behaviors is difficult because its frequently all we know, But COVID 19 is taking a toll, a huge toll, on everyone in healthcare, When the virus subsides many many people in the healthcare tribe will have psychological trauma that will need to be addressed. Videos like yours will help set the right tone.
WORD...a friend of mine and I knew this back when the pandemic first took hold that physical healthcare workers are gonna reel from trauma when it’s finally “over” and the mental health profession is gonna go on a hiring spree for it.
When the 'Labeling' part came, it made me a bit happier because I received my bad grades today. My parents sent a screenshot of my grades and I replied, 'Reality is often disappointing.' and my mom proceeded to talk to me about how grades don't say how smart or good I am. Thanks Mom, Dad and Doc.
the problem i have with therapy is that 1. It's expensive 2. u might get someone that just doesnt click with u 3. u cant just summon ur therapist when u really need it. edit: thx u all so much for ur precious advice! i really appreciate it!
Agreed, although Medicare paid all but $40/visit for mine. He was really helpful. He became ill, and had to have several surgeries. Now I don't know what happened to him. The other therapist they set me up with was very dismissive and just prescribed pills rather than talking with me. Dropped her like a hot rock and gave her a bad Yelp review.
Purpose of a therapist is to make you independent so you eventually dont need them. If you dont connect after 3 or so sessions, find a new one. $$ is an investment and most have sliding scales
Another suggestion... if you are in/thinking of going to college, some colleges have free therapy services. Sure you might not click with the therapist but it doesn’t hurt to try for free. I hope you end up finding what you need!

I had a horrible therapist once, really mean and mentally hurt me. I went to a different “company” and I now have an amazing, kind and calm therapist. Try not to let one bad person ruin your perspective. It’s very hard but you can do it!
“The world is a complex place, where control is limited.” That’s what scares me. I have Complex PTSD, & I appreciate this video. Hyper-vigilance is behind a lot of my interior dialogue, and often centers on my family’s abuse and gaslighting. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy helped me a lot with that, and this is a good reminder of where those thoughts come from, and how to show them the door. Thank you.
As someone studying to be a Licensed Professional Counselor, and someone who has been in therapy, I am SO grateful for your honesty about starting therapy yourself. The stigma is a reason so many people don't reach out for the help they need and you 100% seem like the type of person who "has it all together" and wouldn't need help. Thank you for helping to spread awareness about the need to take care of your mental health.
Dude I can say pretty confidently that your dad became a doctor in 2 countries and languages to make life easier for YOU, definitely not to make you feel bad about "only" becoming a doctor in one country lol. Idk what kind of relationship you have with your pops but I bet he's very proud of you.
He's said before they have a great relationship. He seems to have great relationships with all his family members, but I doubt he'd talk about family drama in public, even if their was any.
unfortunatelly it has the same problem like physical health issues - it is expensive to get therapy. Most people struggle with money and we all know how useless are insurances, so therapy is luxury.

I'm a mental health therapist and so glad to see this video. I work with frontline workers and first responders as the toll of the job is heavy. We all need to process the multiple traumas of the pandemic, loss, mass shootings, etc that we hear about daily.
Oof! The “should” statements get me every time. “I should be doing this right now,” “I should be at home,” “I should go out with my friends,” “I shouldn’t have drank so much,” etc. Definitely something I gotta work on. Great video.
One good evaluation for those "should" statements is looking at whether they help to propel you forward or instead feel like a weight slowing you down. Sometimes it's possible to turn these around. "I should have gotten to sleep earlier… so tomorrow, I'll set a timer to make sure I stop working on my side project earlier." "I shouldn't have eaten that much pizza today… so tomorrow, I'll make sure to have a healthier meal."
In my therapist's room there is a postcard hanging on the wall. It shows a funny donkey, looking at one with the quote "Don't believe everything you think". I love it as it describes a lot of my insecurities that were caused by people with toxic behaviour in my childhood. Today, there are no toxic people in my life. My worst enemy is my brain, which is also my best friend. I don't know what you are struggeling with, but don't think everything is over now. Your life has a lot of potential to get better and going into therapy will be worth it if you give it a chance! Enjoy your day.

My 8 year old daughter is in therapy, struggling with intrusive thoughts and s.i. after being severely bullied. We are big fans of yours. I can't wait to show her this video and I wish you well on your journey. Please remember the negative comments reflect the commenter, not you. This video will save someone's life. Stay happy and healthy, Dr Mike

@@Therapybytes_ thank you for a genuine, kind, and helpful response! I am homeschooling her permanently now because of the bullying. She is in counseling but because of state insurance her counselor keeps changing and she has become very guarded. We do the Growth Mindset (Big Life Journal) as part of our homeschooling curriculum and with her counselor.
So, I play around with my daughter a lot because she always has sarcasm. Wonder where she got it from? Anyway she is sometimes so much for people that some of her "friends" say they don't want to hang out with her. I asked her "Haley, you know that some people may not like you one day right? This is okay because that's what happens. " Her answer was, "well, I like me." I only wish I can have the confidence this girl has. She loves herself so much and I only hope to learn to love myself as much as she does.
But this can be a double-edged sword, especially for females. Encourage her self confidence while also promoting a level of empathy. If she does not aquire empathy she may find herself estranged from her most important relationships. Balance is key!
@@inconnu4961 surely guys have it worse? society teaches young men all these things that have fallen into but cant get out (like falling into a pit of glitter, you may get out, but the glitter is always there). for instance, society is so quick to help women when their depressed but then gives the cold shoulder to guys.
Yay! This is my field. You’re talking about what’s known in psychology as cognitive distortions. These distorted cognitions tend to lead to things like depressive episodes and generalized anxiety and they are often addressed in cognitive therapies like cognitive behavioral therapy. There’s a great book called “feeling good” by Dr. David Burns about this subject. P.S. I fall victim to these thoughts often.
My girlfriend broke up with me 2days ago i needed to hear this that im not unloveble ..... All of my friends are merried alredy and they cant really support me at this point because they have a lot going on....and im not so open with my family to talk with them...and i just randomly ended up here to watch a video to forget about her....and u fill me up with hope ...and changed my mindset....thx doc....😊
My fiancee broke with me 2 years ago. I recently started therapy because I was stuck. I was always thinking something else would come or tried different things to overcome depression. I am beginning to feel alive again.
you know a doctor really cares about others, when they share great things they didn't have to, with people who really need it the most. thank you dr mike. you hear "we appreciate you" almost everyday, but we really mean it. ❤
As someone who struggel with 4 diffrent anxiety disorders and try to stop the stigma i want to tell anybody who reads it: Treat your mental health like you treat your phisical health, don't be afraid to seek help if you need it!!!
I often neglect my own physical health because every time I go to the doctors there’s another physical issue put in my way. I hate it, my physical health has completely stopped me from being able to play sports 😞
"discounting the positive" is a real struggle for me. I spent a lot of my formative years around VERY arrogant people and decided to not allow arrogance in myself, and it took me a long time to see the difference between honestly admitting I did good at something and an arrogant boast. Seems I don't do as much of the second as I thought and it was my wife who helped me put things into perspective about it.
I like to draw a line between pride and dignity... if you're just saying "I did this well." And pat yourself on the back, that's dignified so long as you don't go on and disrespect someone else by pointing out how they did less well at this one arbitrary thing. Otherwise it becomes that ugly thing, pride, which drives us to arrogance and zero-sum thinking, constantly needing to take from others to feel okay with ourselves. But building yourself up with encouraging self-love statements and the like, at no-one's expense? Or even being playfully smug, along the lines of "Yep, did that thing you wanted, you're welcome"? That's healthy, I think. Please allow yourself that comfort. =)
Admitting you need a therapy is a big step and starting it is another incredible step. But sharing it with a massive public to encourage others requires a massive courage. You did Amazing. I'm very Proud of you!
@@ryanong3517 As good and necessary as medication is, there are specific indications for it, and cognitive distorsions cannot be treated with just medications, in those cases, therapy is neccesary, and is prooven to be very effective for this kind of situations.
@@ryanong3517 Psychiatrists are fully trained in therapy and testing, but its usually more cost effective to have them do initial evaluation / diagnosis / med management and have a counselor or social worker do therapy.
@@miguelzarate5121 Oh right. I thought you can just take the meds cause then for most people it's better, since therapy means there are a lot of sessions and time commitment etc.
@@ryanong3517 Psychiatric meds and talk therapy can both be used to treat mental health problems, but they do very different things. Talk therapy, in my experience at least, does take up a lot more time, perhaps an hour per week instead of fifteen minutes per month (this will vary of course). For me, as someone with bipolar disorder, there are medications that can reduce my symptoms, and I'm currently taking a couple of them. I'm not seeing a psychotherapist now, but if I did, that professional would probably focus on teaching me strategies to work around my mood disorder.
Starting therapy, getting on meds was probably the best decision I’ve ever made. I’ve learned so much about myself already and it genuinely helps-especially when you have a great therapist
This is so important to talk about! I recently started therapy as well (I'm 16) and where i live mental health is a big taboo. telling my parents i wanted help took 1.5 years of battling suicidal thoughts, social anxiety, loneliness and trauma alone. Pandemic made my social anxiety so bad that I can not walk outside without feeling scared. So, I got help. I'm proud of myself for doing so. And I'm happy I can learn to not feel guilty being happy and be a step closer to taking care of myself!
Omg, younger and younger people needs therapy :( Good you got help AND that you finally asked for it. I, random stranger from internet(apparently half world apart;)) , am proud of you :) That you attend therapy and that you decided to ask for help- that part is freakin hard.
I am in awe with someone like Doctor Mike admitting to starting therapy. Mental health and emotional struggles are so stigmatized that even if you are falling apart, you are compelled to put on a brave face and feel like a million bucks - and the more successful you are, the more you feel pressured to look the part. As fantastic as the other videos are, this is by far my absolute favorite. I really hope to see more content addressing this issue. Thank you for your openness. Well done, doc!
”The world is not black or white. It’s different shades of grey” ”you can be someones angel and surviver and someones demon and destruction” a wisedom that Attack on titan show very well
Thank you Dr. Mike! I'm a school psychologist and feel 90% of people could benefit from talk therapy at some point in life. I'm really glad you're helping to destigmatize getting support for normal life stress! Your beautiful inside and out! I appreciate you!
I had to have an amniocentesis and I was scared. After the procedure I nearly fainted. The doctor acknowledged that it’s understandable as it’s an emotional procedure. I really appreciated him acknowledging that.
As a therapist, I often get the comment that Doc's aren't really understanding what it's like to deal with anxiety or any mental health issue. I love the fact that you're aware of it, working on yourself and especially how you describe all of those mechanism so that it's easy for everyone to understand and how it's non-threatening to consult to feel better. 🥰
As a fellow Aussie, I agree lol. I keep a can of bug spray in my room, partially for mosquitos but also for spiders like white tails (I saw one near my bed recently and did not hesitate with the spray. Like... I know they're not THAT venomous, but still. NOPE.) Lol😅
i admire you father man. simply doing all the medical school stuff again in a new language just cause he really loves his job and helping people. he is a great man
I would guess it's a lot easier the second time around, though. Similar example: my vet decided to study human medicine for fun on the side while running a big clinic. She posted it on the clinic website when she graduated. When I visited the clinic again with my pet I asked her how she was able to handle the workload while running an animal clinic she just smiled, shrugged and said, oh well, humans are just another form of mammal, wasn't so hard.
@@TheFeldhamster Idk I doubt it. My dad also had to go through medical board licensing exams in the US again after immigrating from our home country, and the way he describes that time makes me respect and look up to him so much. Having to learn a new language, not only the basics of that language, but enough to be able to practice something as complex as medicine while also getting good scores and competing against natural born US students is insanely difficult. I'm in medical school myself now and I don't know how he was able to do it.
Thank you!!! This is a step in the right direction of not only normalizing mental health care but also increasing access to it! There are so many mentally ill people and people who are struggling who lose their fight in one way or another because they do not have access to mental healthcare
I suffer from the impostor syndrome. Whenever I accomplish something, I tend to attribute it to the circumstances or dumb luck or other people - you name it. Self-doubt is my best friend. I guess I need to work on my self-esteem.
Look into loving kindness meditation ❤️ it helped me to view myself and others with compassion and grace. It helped a lot! Hopefully you could get something out of it.
Thank you, Doctor Mike. I needed this today. I'm going to find a counselor. Thank you for reminding me that my feelings are valid and that getting help is okay- you're a life-saver 💜💜
This is a reminder to check on those who show no signs of sadness, they're hiding it deep down where no one could see it because they think its not meant to be shown and they don't want to add onto your sadness because they think your problems matter more than theirs.
As someone in the mental health field I'm so happy to see you talking about this! Everyone should go to therapy if they can, just to have someone objective to talk through how they're feeling and what's going on in their life, as well as learning coping or communication skills! Therapy is not a "fix" or 'cure" for something, it's maintenance to keep your mind healthy! Just like you have to maintain a workout regime to keep your body fit, you should consistently check in with your mental state and work on coping skills to keep it healthy (: Love you Dr. Mike!
If you can find a therapist. First I was given a social worker who talked more about the problems she had with her now ex-husband rather than helping me find ways to cope with my TBI husband's problems. She asked me to bring pictures of my family next session (2 weeks out) and forgot she asked. Then she was very reluctant to give back the picture of my father, which she couldn't stop staring at! Then I did get a CRN, who was very good. But he got sick and vanished. The next looked like she was 20, was very dismissive, gave me a prescription for Zoloft, and had me checking out within 10 minutes of walking into her office. Gave her a bad yelp review, as she never did the telemedicine, even after I called the office about it. Still without a therapist.
My therapist went through this list with me multiple times when I was meeting with her. I also had a class 2 years later that talked about these, calling them thinking errors. Knowing what is happening in your mind is a great step to help you overcome it. I have made it so far by being able to work on the things in this video. Thank you Dr. Mike for bringing more light to this. 😁😁😁
This video really hits home for me. I have applied for med school three times and have been rejected all three times... Getting rejected this many times really takes a toll on one’s mental health. I feel worthless and have low self esteem issues. It feels like an impossible, far fetched goal now. I hope it gets better.
I have the same exact story as you, remember that you're not alone. I feel bad about it almost every single day, even subconsciously, and with everything that's happening right now I sometimes feel absolutely worthless, I honestly don't know the answers to how things can get better, or how I can make them feel better, but maybe by reading this you will see that hey, you're as human as me, and vice versa, and I don't think you'd ever tell me that I'm worthless bc of those regections, same for me, so we shouldn't be saying that to ourselves. I hope you heal
@@isa_innie Thank you for this. Knowing I’m not alone in this makes me feel oddly calm. Knowing that many other people share my story helps me get closer to coming to terms with my failures.
Thank you for being you, Dr. Mike! ❤️ There’s nothing wrong with you. It is okay to not be okay at times. But don’t stay stuck there professionals say. Mental health is just as important as physical health. And we need to take care of both during these difficult times especially if you are working in the health and medical field industry. Be proud of who you are and everything you’ve achieved thus far. It was a tough road and not everyone makes it through medical school. And don’t compare yourself to others. We are all different and have our own gifts and challenges. You are unique and deserve the world. ❤️ Sending prayers and hugs your way!!
starting therapy and sharing it with so many people is so strong and powerful. It is completely normal and no one should be ashamed for it! The stigma to it shouldn’t even exist.
It was hard to confess that I was depressed a few years ago (it’s hard to tell your loved ones you’re so miserable you constantly think about and are on the brink of suicide). I would not be here today without a lot of therapy.
I'm also glad you are here with us. Please continue on your journey of self discovery. Its all too easy to fall back into negative patterns. society at large seems to be quite unhealthy and unhappy and has a tendency to pull us back into the doldrums. so continue to do the CBT. I wish you all success and happiness.
@@Matin_M thank you! I’m the best I’ve ever been. Ironically at 25 my quarter life crisis is coming to a close, not beginning. I’m moving to hawaii in 16 days but who’s counting?

Dr. Mike, I used to think that I would always like all of your videos... but I was wrong. Which has prompted me to leave my first comment ever on one of your videos. Because I have to be honest, I don't like this video... I absolutely freaking LOVE it!!! 😁 Most of your videos are hilariously entertaining, and I thoroughly enjoy every minute. But this video is a gem! Super necessary information and edited into perfect succinctness. Thank you for creating not only this video, but your entire channel! 💙👨🏻🔬🩺 You have done, and continue to do many great things! The world needs Dr. Mike!
Society either encourages a lot of these thought patterns or completely denies and rejects their existence which makes things even harder. Thank you for speaking up Dr. Mike!
I feel like labelling and personalisation and blame are the ones society encourages the most. Ever since we are little, we are taught bad grades means stupid person even tho it doesn't have to be true. Or when something happens and we get somewhere late, it's not just us who blame ourselves, it's usually our boss or teacher that does it first. At least that's how the personalization and blame issues started for me and now it's a big problem. It's really sad how little we talk about these issues so I'm glad Dr. Mike has made this video.
The first few seconds are all I needed to hear from a doctor that works on our physical health. My respect for you just keeps on growing. Thank you for making a RUclips channel.

Thank you for being authentic to your experiences, Dr. Mike, and for helping de-stigmatize talking about mental health. I know a doctor that swears up and down that doctors can't go to therapy because it'll go on their "permanent record" and follow them through their career, stop them from getting jobs. Any good resources to help dispel this myth or discuss it further would be brilliant.
YES. This video is just what I need. I have borderline personality disorder and depression. I always tend to have negative thoughts about myself and constantly degrading myself. But with therapy and medication I am learning to help myself. With this I am starting to work in animal medicine as a Veterinarian Assistant. This makes me feel and tells me I can do anything despite my disabilities. Keep your head up and keep going to anyone that needs this message!
I used to tell my kids that when we were having problems with our feelings that made us unhappy we needed a feelings doctor, just like when we were having problems with our body we needed to see a body doctor.
Dr Mike you realize how rough it's been life was for all of us during covid and mental health is super important. Super happy you came out with this cause it helps me check in with my bi polar disorder.
Thank you!!! So grateful that someone in your social position would put in the care to help others with your efforts of destigmatizing mental health issues! You're amazing, Dr. Mike. And it's not just your looks.

Thank you so much for this video. I've been considering therapy for a while, and hearing that someone as successful as you is doing it has inspired me to take action and accountability for my own mental health as well.
I am a psychology major and I love how much you are seemingly interested in psychological phenomena!!! it’s so dope to see a doctor that cares about the psychology and not just the medicine
I know that must be difficult, but everyone goes through failures- big and small. Don’t compare yourself to others and realise you have your own path. Life is full of so much uncertainty but you can’t always focus on that. Try to take it day by day and realise that you can handle whatever life throws at you. We are all humans and much more similar than we think we are. We all have struggles and insecurities that are valid. I wish you the best in everything. Keep going
Hey I've been there. My university basically dumped my entire transfer credits my final year and told me I had to start over. Transferring to another school wasn't an option, as max transfer credit limits meant I would have to spend another year or two just retaking courses I already took. So I switched. I had a hobby building computers and started researching IT careers which can be gained with experience and certifications. Focused on one cert, got an entry level tech job and studied everything I could. Fast forward 7 years and I have been a Systems Admin, a Security Engineer (and many other things) I'm now running the entire IT Department at a tech startup. Hard work, and a focus on "what's the next step" will keep you moving.

No one takes my arachnophobia seriously, and it's really annoying. My mom is claustrophobic, and my dad is super supportive of her. But he just mocks me whenever I'm frightened by a spider. I can't help it that my initial reaction is to scream and run away while bursting into tears. And the worst part is, I can never remember what happened. In my brain, I just gasp a little and that's it. But in reality, I scream my head off. My phobia has gotten a little better, though. I've been able to minimize my reaction, especially in public. It's just nice when someone realizes that it's an IRRATIONAL fear. Does it make sense that I'm scared of a spider? No. But I am.
Took me 6 years, but I went from crying at a cellar spider to owning a rose-tipped tarantula. I never touch her, mind you, because I never have to, but she's become a part of the family regardless. Even have her named of the emergency "look for these pets in a fire" sticker on my front door. It's Tulula, and she's adorable.
This is such an important video. I hear so many people talk about mental health, wanting to solve their problems without wanting to change how they think.
I'm slowly accepting the fact that I too need help. I always tried to make sure everyone is happy and over the years I forgot about myself. I'm tired. I need help. Thank you for the push.
How is it going Bruno? Did you seek out that help? With the recent pandemic there has been high demand for therapy services, so you may find it difficult to geta timely appointment. So please dont wait. But in the mean time, you can watch videos on RUclips. Psych2go is a good site that has broad topics that cover positive and negative behaviors. It seems to be geared toward women, but if you can endure the syrupy presentation, it is quite good with its material and simplistic explanations. All the best to you, Bruno!

3. u cant just summon ur therapist when u really need it.

There's online therapy like Better Help. They say it's cheaper than in-person appointments and you can talk to them whenever.
@@Josh2919_ oh really? i might give a try at that in the future

I often neglect my own physical health because every time I go to the doctors there’s another physical issue put in my way.
I hate it, my physical health has completely stopped me from being able to play sports 😞
So true

Dr Mike: spiders are harmless 99% of the time.

Same with me. I always say well anyone could do that and Lucas did it way better.
You looking kinda sus
Best of luck 👍

Look into loving kindness meditation ❤️ it helped me to view myself and others with compassion and grace. It helped a lot! Hopefully you could get something out of it.
Thank you, Doctor Mike. I needed this today. I'm going to find a counselor. Thank you for reminding me that my feelings are valid and that getting help is okay- you're a life-saver 💜💜
This is a reminder to check on those who show no signs of sadness, they're hiding it deep down where no one could see it because they think its not meant to be shown and they don't want to add onto your sadness because they think your problems matter more than theirs.
"A single word does not define you".
I'm taking this to heart
Rejections* my bad
did they give you a reason for why you were rejected? it will definately help you if you know why its not a good fit for you yet
@@isa_innie Thank you for this. Knowing I’m not alone in this makes me feel oddly calm. Knowing that many other people share my story helps me get closer to coming to terms with my failures.
@@Charlieto I don’t perform well in aptitude tests.
Thank you for being so open, vulnerable and honest about your therapy. It's time to destigmatize mental health! Never be afraid to ask for help 😊👍
Glad you're here with us! Hope you're doing well ☺️
I'm also glad you are here with us. Please continue on your journey of self discovery. Its all too easy to fall back into negative patterns. society at large seems to be quite unhealthy and unhappy and has a tendency to pull us back into the doldrums. so continue to do the CBT. I wish you all success and happiness.
I'm happy to hear that you've been able to get the help that you needed, I hope you're doing better!
@@Matin_M thank you! I’m the best I’ve ever been. Ironically at 25 my quarter life crisis is coming to a close, not beginning. I’m moving to hawaii in 16 days but who’s counting?
It is. It’s even harder when they don’t get it. The phrase “we’ll just get glad” can be one of the most crushing things in those moments.
As someone who is actively in therapy for many of these distortions, I love that you’re talking about this and trying to help remove the stigma around it. So thank you, truly!
Dr. Mike,
I used to think that I would always like all of your videos... but I was wrong. Which has prompted me to leave my first comment ever on one of your videos. Because I have to be honest, I don't like this video... I absolutely freaking LOVE it!!! 😁
Most of your videos are hilariously entertaining, and I thoroughly enjoy every minute. But this video is a gem! Super necessary information and edited into perfect succinctness. Thank you for creating not only this video, but your entire channel! 💙👨🏻🔬🩺
You have done, and continue to do many great things!
Just because someone is a professional or a entertainer doesn’t mean they aren’t human everyone needs help sometimes thanks for keeping it real❤️ ( this video is amazing thank you for talking about mental health and taking the time to talk about your own personal struggles as well this may help someone today who feels alone)
@@rosepetal4524 it takes time and courage to speak up work at your own pase no one is the same. Find a community that is accepting of who you are as a person, even when they are there to support you with bad qualities and all.

Thank you so much for this video. I've been considering therapy for a while, and hearing that someone as successful as you is doing it has inspired me to take action and accountability for my own mental health as well.
I am a psychology major and I love how much you are seemingly interested in psychological phenomena!!!
it’s so dope to see a doctor that cares about the psychology and not just the medicine
is that you in the profile ?
I've just failed out of university and the whole feeling like a failure thing is defientoy me right now
I know that must be difficult, but everyone goes through failures- big and small. Keep going
You’re on your path. You’re not ‘less than’ or stupid or a failure. Be patient and kind to yourself for all the good things you’ve done.

Dr. Mike: Spiders are normally harmless.
My arachnophobia that will make me cry if I literally think about a spider for a second too long: *imma pretend i didnt hear that*
I literally dropped the phone while watching this video from the image of the spider bc i thought it was real. So, exactly when he was saying they're harmless, my body was like nope.
I immediately flip my phone over 😣
Hey
/╲/\╭ºoꍘoº╮/\╱\
