Martina McBride has got to be one of the best female singer/songwriter's in American history ♡ Thank God for the talents she beholds, and chooses to share with others ♡

Shannon Brooke Little, RN; BSN; MS she is not a songwriter. I have several CDs of her and the only one she has written ANY songs off of is her CD how I feel. She gets other people to write her songs for the most part. She didn't even write this song. Emory Gordy jr (Patty loveless husband) and Jim rushing wrote this song.

    • @annagracelamb5481

@@countrygirlcountrymusiclov5831 she does write. She's said many times before that she writes, but she personally doesn't like to record her own songs. Not sure the reason of that, but she definitely writes.

Top 10 of female singers in all genres. Sadly Martina is not a songwriter. She gives all the credit to those who wrote the songs she has made hers that we all love.

I can't believe I found this beautiful country song "cheap whiskey " I had it in recorded in a cassette with a list of other songs and gave it to a friend many years ago, she passed away three months ago, and her family gave me a box with lots of things that I had giving her through out all the years of our friendship it happens that I got the cassette back and...there it was, that it how I was able to find that beautiful song That I haven't listened for so many years since 1997. This song tells the story of my ex-husband. He chose me and my song for a the bottle of whiskey

I had been hunting this song for forever!! I'd remembered the video, Martina with long hair and the black and white but I COULD NOT remember the name of it or even the words.....just the loss at the end. Finally!!! I found it absolutely by mistake. I was listening to some of Pam Tillis's and this popped up on my feed!! So glad I found it! Great song, so sad. What a great voice Martina has. How does she manage to come up with all these songs featuring drinking and/or domestic violence/violence?? Cheap Whiskey was one of many.....followed by......Independence Day, Broken Wing, Concrete Angel.......etc....Love you Martina!!!! (I do love Pam Tillis though)

I love this son, it has such a powerful sobering message. It really tells the facts of alcoholism and what an impact it has on loved ones and the loss of lives because of it's awful hold it has on the abuser. Every time I hear this song or watch this video, It brings tears to my eyes and sadness to my heart because of all the lives that are lost in auto accidents, domestic abuse ect. because of alcohol. That's why I am thankful that I don't drink. I use to drink, but I gave it up 8 years ago

I think that it is totally up to the artist themselves and their ability to connect with the listener. If they can touch your soul with a song, and it doesn't matter if they have the best music or costumes. If they can make u feel what they feel, then that is what a serious artist is all about. Sharing their passions with the world.

    Lyric:
He sits all alone in his easy chair
Staring back on his lost yesterdays
Long before he encountered the bottle
And the demons that drove her away
In his hand he is holding her photograph
Her image all tear-stained and worn
    Tonight he's embracing reality
And he curses the day he was born
And the darkness still echoes her warning
You can't have two loves in your life
Now the things that will haunt him
Until the day that he dies
Is the smell of cheap whiskey
    And the sound of goodbye
Since the hour that she left he's been sober
And each breath that he draws makes him think
About the light of his life gone forever
When he traded her love for a drink
And the darkness still echoes her warning
You can't have two loves in your life
Now the things that will haunt him
Until the day that he dies
Is the smell of cheap whiskey
    And the sound of goodbye
    The smell of cheap whiskey
    And the sound of goodbye

Martina McBride has one of the best natural vocal ranges in country music! Back in the '90s it was easy to enhance voices in recording studios, I doubt she needed it. Nowadays it's done quite frequently, listen to her rendition of "How Great Thou Art" from the '90s! Unbelievable absolutely. Today voices can be enhanced live in concert. Technology has brought us thus far. Take a pretty face, and make her a 🌟, but first, her producer will tell her you must "sex it up" - in other words dress a whole lot sexier💄 that is a fact.
