      I'd say more of an icon Coach. I imagine he has a great connection with ALL of his players, not just one of them. He does this Every Year as he coaches young boys into men with a strong work ethic and good moral values. Too ALL the young men he has taught, for however number of years he has coached at the school.

    I got say, I was so moved by the coach when he said, “At that moment, it was my child”. That head coach is the kind of coach every kid needs. What an awesome man. Keep pushing kid, your determination and fight will take you places.

    Man I felt this on an entirely different level. I was being scouted, had 3 offers for college ball. My Junior year I fractured my T1 vertebrae (neck). Was in a wheelchair for almost 4 months. Wasn’t able to play anymore..Since then I’ve fully recovered, and just enjoyed my 20th birthday. Thank you for making this, made me reflect on how amazing this brotherhood really is.

    This same injury happened to our QB when I was at Woodberry Forest School. Jacob Rainey. Eerily, he also wore number 9. Jacob is a beast and came back and played the very next year with a prosthetic leg.

    What really choked me up was watching the love & compassion the head coach shows for Alex. I've never seen a coach open his heart like this coach does so my hats off for the head coach. I wish all coach's cared as much as he does and I'm sure it meant a lot to Alex. He's a real coach.

      I had a coach in Pop Warner who was a marine who was really tough on the outside, but was like a marshmallow in the inside. When I moved to another city he lived down the street and I would visit him and we would talk about things in life and of course football

    I'm relatively new to American Football (or Football in the US!). Being from the UK I often, wrongly, turned a blind eye to it. Stories like this shows me that the brotherhood and connection of the team goes far beyond anything I've ever seen in amateur and professional sports. I'm sat here, a grown man, crying my eyes out at this incredible story. Well done Alex, well done Zach, and thank you to ESPN and SC for bringing this incredible story to life.

    Tore a bunch of ligaments in my shoulder playing my junior year, went through 6 months of rehab and tried switching positions to get back on the field my senior year but I never got the chance to play again. Stories like Alex will always make my eyes water b/c it reminds me how football can still have a positive impact after you've been hit with the worst parts of life. Even though I'll never be able to throw like I used to, I'll always remember the relationship and good times I had with my brothers.

    I have never seen something more inspirational more than this kids story is. After a year of struggles he comes back on the field and shows that nothing ( not even losing a leg) can stop him from playing the sport he loves the most.

      Spazeman Spiff on kickoff biggest kid on the team hit me in the side of my leg & i lost the ball and it got stuck under my leg straight up and down & the whole team piled on top of me , snapped straight in half .

      At one of my school’s rival schools, a football player was injured during practice and spent two months in a coma. He still uses a wheelchair and will never again be the way he was before the accident. I feel bad for him, for his family, but most of all, I feel bad for the guy who hit him. I don’t know how you can live with yourself after that.

    The coach is easily the best coach I've ever seen. Just in this 14 minute video you see how much he cares for Alex. And it is also amazing that Zach Miller was there for him like that while going through the same thing.

I was never built for sports, physically, but I think I have an idea of what "I got you" means. You're not left out to dry and someone has your back. It's a good feeling.       You go into shock when you get injured like that, it's pretty scary! I had it happen when I dislocated my knee because my kneecap went to the back of my leg!

      I remember falling down while my cousin piggyback rides on me, bending my elbow the wrong way and it didnt come back correctly. Dude, it was painful af i couldnt do anything but yell something like, "eyaaaaahh" repeatedly, as if crying or anything id try to do will just add more pain somehow. I just froze in pain on the ground sounding like a dying crow.

    This story really hits home for me. It’s been 11+ years now since I’ve played any type of organized sport. My entire life Sports were my passion. They still are and even more so now. But you just push through, man. You continue to keep fighting. My feet will most likely remain paralyzed for the rest of my life on this Earth, but I don’t want any sympathy. Life is a true blessing and each and every day I wake up is the best day yet. Any time I come across stories like this it reminds me why it’s so vital to have a positive mindset. “You just can’t live in that negative way, make way for the positive day”
