    Thanks for making the video Phil, it been over a year now, and there is still not been a ton of information out there about IMAX enhanced, I don't think many movies have been released with it yet.

    Thanks so much for doing this video, just purchased the 4500H. They let me try out the 6500 vs 4500, it came down to that I didn't need extra powered 2 channels, the only issue was the 6500H was made in Japan, personally not paying $1000+ for it. So pleased with my 4500H. Great video since now am looking for 75"+ TV. 🇨🇦

    This video was incredibly confusing. Either you don't understand it yourself or IMAX is wanting to make it vague on purpose.
    First, when my Marantz AV 10 went into IMAX DTS:X mode, there was no option under Surround Parameters.
    Second, I think the 24dB crossover is extremely important to understand. Is it set to 70Hz assuming you're at 80Hz normally? So if I do 60Hz crossovers, should I set it to 50Hz for IMAX? What is a 24dB crossover? It's not "I don't want to get too technical", it's something we _need_ to know as consumers of IMAX Enhanced media.
    Next, the picture quality is the same. It's still 4K, but more pixels will be used than Cinemascope content because the cameras they use could have taller aspect ratios but only sometimes. And during playback, some IMAX videos will switch between aspect ratios. But it's all still 4K width.
    I think what's important is HDR10+. Even if your TV supports Dolby Vision, it might not support HDR10+. You'll be missing out on the studio's dynamic tone mapping in HDR10+ because it'll revert you to HDR10 mode.
    Yes, TVs have dynamic tone mappers, but they're not good in general, and I wouldn't recommend using it, but they can prevent clipping of highlights.
    A MadVR Envy would also solve the tone mapping problem or simply having a 2022+ model TV with 1000+ nits of peak brightness. On my TV I turned off the tone mapper. It's still there, but with a more subtle curve.
    When set to PC or Game mode, my LG OLED even has a setting called HGiG to completely disable the tone mapper. That's the best way to run it because the content can determine how to tone map, not the TV. But you need a media player that's capable of tone mapping movies for you.
    Windows 11 has an HDR Calibration app that's a separate download from Microsoft. If you run it, then the Windows Media Player app will tone map HDR content. In the same vein, the MadVR plugin for MPC-HC also tone maps HDR content, but it does it differently to Windows Media Player.

    So IMAX Enhance Certification seems to be an Audio format that’s Auto Calibrated by an AVR to Enhance audio and video experience. The “receiver will adjust everything for you, but you must insert and IMAX Enhanced disc.” I see you mention the 4th order... can the same “settings for IMAX Enhance (audio)” be reached manually on an AVR that isn’t IMAX Enhance Certified?

    These new receivers are fantastic, but where does one get high quality source material these days ? Preferably from a stream.

    I have a Denon 6500H and a JVC X95R Projector with e-shift. In other words not a true 4k projector. I was wondering if I would benefit from Imax as far as picture and sound? I just completed my theater room and don't have any Imax movies as of yet so I wanted to get your take before buying Imax movies. Would i be able to at least get the larger picture and would the Denon still detect the Imax sound regardless that my projector isn't a true 4k. Thanks

    Throughout this pandemic... all I seem to have done is audition receivers and I must say as far as features go Denon leads the way but I'm sad to say when it comes to the sound quality especially two-channel Denon is just way to digital sounding!
    I'm so glad I carried on saving and purchase myself and analogue sounding receiver... the difference is night and day.

    I recently purchased the Denon 3700H and love it. The setup GUI is so user-friendly. However, I am thinking of returning due to one glaring problem - it runs HOT. I'm not talking warm, I'm talking hot enought that I felt my fingers burning. My previous receivers were Pioneer Elite and they also ran warm to hot. However, I was able to cool them down with a laptop cooling pad. Not so with the Denon. It still ran hot. I can only imagine how this will shorten the life span of the receiver. I know there have been some references about this problem so I do not think I'm alone in reporting this. Is there someone at Denon I can report this to? Thank you.

    Okay it is now October of 2021, this video was made in 2019. We still have only 4 or 5 IMAX Enhanced 4K UHD disc that are worth spending money on. What happened to all the promises of hundreds titles that will be available? I and many more people went out invested in new equipment for what now seems to be a format that is. just going to disappear.
    Maybe that was the plan from the beginning, a big ad campaign to get sales up and then NOT DELIVER!!!

    My x7200wa, I can’t find the bass/treble controls while listening with [wited] headphones. Even though this AVR is Bluetooth, it can’t figure out how to send sound to my Bluetooth headphones. Speaking of streaming, The Netflix app on AppleTV 4K is nerfed. When Atmos is turned on in the AppleTV settings and Atmos content is played, occasionally all of the audio will come from all of the surround sound speakers! I have talked with Netflix and Apple at least three times each since November 2019. The first Netflix rep didn’t understand what “25 down” meant when she asked me what my internet speed is! She told me to contact the manufacturer of my SPEAKERS and have you (Def Tech/Sound United) troubleshoot why THEIR stream is jacked up!!! Sometimes it plays ok, 90% of the time it is messed up. The second Netflix rep told me that the fix is to turn Atmos off. SERIOUSLY!?!? The third rep actually understood what I was talking about. This is a known problem that has been reported on AV forums. Finally, am I better off using a tape measure to correct Audyssey’ inaccurate speaker distance measurement(s) or just let it be? Also, how do we convert a 12 inch foot into a TEN inch foot??? Yeah, you guys have speaker distances measured in 10 inches, not 12. Please push out a firmware update to fix the headphone tone and headphone Bluetooth and distance issue. I don’t expect you guys to troubleshoot Netflix’s bitched Atmos stream. Disney+ and Amazon both sound fine in Atmos on my AppleTV 4K.

    Got it. But where is that Avengers Infinity War IMAX Enhanced Disc? Everybody was waiting for such an announcement on its Release Date. No content = no acceptence :( Producers all over the world have to understand that audio and video enthusiasts spend a lot of money for hardware and for the software they distribute. But the countervalue isn’t as good as they think.

    I feel like this format is DOA.. i don’t know what benefits this format has other than the aspect ratio, which I prefer over the traditional movie ratio... from what I’ve heard it forces your system to do things they were never designed for.... I hear you lose surround channels too... I have an imax enhanced reciever but unfortunately there just isn’t enough content... I’ll need to get my hands on a 4k Blu-ray player to test it out, because it’s not a streaming format yet.... I will say, I’d like to see more DTS:X content

    Being a OLED owner, I like the so called 'black bars' effect why on earth would I want to change my aspect ratio to a full screen!

    • @SP95
      @SP95 4 года назад +3

      Movie makers want to use the whole space that your screen could offer regardless of the format. Black bars were never meant to stay or exist.

    • @jr62inhometheater98
      @jr62inhometheater98 3 года назад

      Just because it’s IMAX ENHANCED movie doesn’t mean it will be a full aspect ratio. So far they are not changing the original aspect ratios.
