    I have been using Olight hand held lights for at least 5 years now and you are totally correct about the older generations. They did have issues exactly as you described. With the ones I owned, the this issue would happen every few days or when they would auto-shutdown due to heat). However, they seemed to have corrected the issues in the last couple of years. (I've had 4 primary Olight EDC lights; One died, the second I retired due to the issues you described, the third I lost - but didn't have the issues and my current EDC is running fine.)
    Good review and keep up the honesty!

    When they first came out, the o light pistol light was the craze of my police department. Our firearms division authorized it. I almost made the switch from my streamlight due to its rechargeable feature. So glad I didn’t, my department banned the use of them shortly after due to recoil related failures in the switch, battery, or circuitry (olight never really cleared that up). O light replaced the failed units, however many of the new ones had issues also. Warranty replacements are great but I’d rather have reliability!
    Stick with streamlight or surefire; both professional grade.

      Streamlight i've heard are great all i see when i see a surefire is "proprietary batteries and internal body diameters so your forced to buy surefires price jacked shit instead" that and i don't really hold a companies in high regard when part of their marketing goes towards the military cause "military grade" is lowest bidder with it just works well enough.

    Hmmm....I have the M2R Warrior, M2R Warrior Pro(quantity 4), Warrior X Pro(quantity 2), PL-2 Valkyrie(quantity 6), PL-Pro Valkyrie(2), Seeker 2 Pro(Quantity 2), Baton Pro(quantity 2), Perun, i5T EOS(quantity 2),i3UV EOS, i1R2(quantity 2). I have owned most of them for over 1.5 years and several for over 2 years. All the Valkyrie are use just about every day, the M2R Warrior Pro and M2R Warrior are use every day. They are carried in the Southwest Florida Gulf coast where for 6 months out of the year it is in excess of 94 degrees and humidity in excess of 60% and have never experienced and malfunction or outage of these lights. During the other 6 months of the year and during winter the temperature has dropped as low as 28 degrees(this is not typical but it does happen) and regularly the temperature is in the low 30s and again I have never had any malfunction or failure of any Olight product that I own. Further, my friend in Los Angeles has the same Olight products that I do(we do not have the same quantities) and again he has never had a failure or problem with any Olight product.
    In Los Angeles, the weather is in the winter in the mountains below 0 and in the valley and deserts the temperature can be 118 degrees with single digits of humidity.
    My Valkyrie, M2R, M2R Pro, and Warrior X Pro are carried with my firearm everyday and night. I live in a rural part of the state and at night you can not see 10 feet without a flashlight or outdoor lighting. I bet my life on my Olight weapon lights and hand held flashlights.
    This is my experience.
    PS I know many law enforcement officers that use Olight products and they too bet their lives on Olight
    After listening to your experience with Olight, I believe you should sell all your Olight products purchase the over priced Surefire or
    the better priced Streamlight.
    FYI - Surefire products are also manufactured in China

      Surefire flashlights are made in the u.s.a. Not sure about all there stuff, but modlite is a good option. I have olights a r50seeker pro that dies on me in a week if I don’t use it. And I have 4 warrior minis that have been recalled. My favorite light from them is the m2r warrior I have 3 of them, my only complaint is that all 3 of the m2r have all different led tints I mean not even close one has a green tint one has a blue tint and one is almost neutral white. The color of the chips differ so much you won’t know what color tint you will get. I have a surefire I forgot the model but that thing is a tank of a light. I know this video is 6 months old but there are several holsters for the PL weapon light including the new Baldr Mini, my newer Olights and several of my older ones never had the shut off issues you discussed, I had a couple with that issue but none in the last few years.
    Most of these new higher output LED lights are made in China... Olight, Nitecore, Fenix Thrunite , Acebeam , Imalent,
    Most Streamlights are made overseas as well only a couple higher models are assembled in the US .. Surefire , Elzetta , HDS , Prometheus and other premium lights are made here and their price shows it. Maglite is a US made cost effective light but lacks some of the features the others offer.

    I bought a PL-mini about 2 years ago before the unit with adjustable mount was offered. It works good. When I saw the newer model had an adjustable mount, I bought one. It lasted about 6 months before developing charge issues. I sent it back for warranty replacement. The replacement worked for about 6 months but then when testing it , the unit would not shut off. I put it on the charger until I got a green LED. When testing it again, the next time it would not come ON. I sent it back around Aug 2020. Now I am on my 3rd PL-mini with adjustable mount and will see if it develops issues. Keeping my fingers crossed. At least the folks at OLight have lived up to their warranty. I just had to pay shipping charges about $10 each time. J K

    Hmm. I’ve never had that happen. I’ve left Olights siting static for years and they still retained almost a full charge. PL Mini Valkyrie sat for 6 months. Slapped the charger on it and light was green. At least 90%. My first Olight was the S1R Baton 2. Came with an extra battery which I immediately charged up and it sat in a drawer for 6 years. Original battery wouldn’t hold a charge so I put the spare battery in it at the 6 year mark. It came right on! So I slapped the charger on it and the light was orange/red. Charging. As I’m sitting there watching it charge, the charge light turned green! 90%. So it had to have had a high 80% charge sitting in a drawer for 6 years. That was two years ago and it still works fine! My Javelot Pro sat in its box for 2 years and it came on and the charge light was green immediately as well. The only one I have that drains quickly is the lantern. But it has a sensor on the on/off switch so it does use power when off but it lasts about a month before I have to recharge it if it’s just sitting there.

    I use an m2 warrior pro on my home defense rifle and a pl pro on my pistol.
    I keep them plugged in and I n the disk always in the wall. I prefer olight because I know everytime I pick it up ita fully charged and ready to rock.

    I just got a baldr RL for my p320c for home defense. Bright as hell, but I’ve only found one company that makes holsters for them. So if I plan to take my p320 for edc, I have to drop the light all together until I get home. All good though, my p365 has a tlr6 and most companies make something for it, and that’s my actually edc. Back to the baldr rl, I’m pretty happy with it for the few times I’ve played around with it. Seems to be very good quality, and holds to the gun with no slop. I also got the mini keychain flash light, threw that on my wife’s keychain and I got another flash light from them that’s my edc. How can a light be an EDC or tactical light if you only check it once every 3-4 weeks? I carry the M2T for the very reason the R model has such a recessed switch. In addition to not wanting to carry a magnet in my pocket all the time. I'm not going to tell you that you didn't experience a failure...but when you describe how hard it is to press it and get momentary it makes me wonder if you're simply not pressing deep enough to get it to turn on. I actually have the Baton SR2 flashlight that I use for work and honestly I love it. I do building maintenance in a facility thats constantly both wet, dirty/dusty, or both. The light honestly is incredible as far as its durability goes. Flashlights are used hard, easily on 4 hours+ a shift. The magnet on the back works great, its definitely waterproof because I've had that exposed and submerged so many times its not even a concern. Alot of other guys use Streamlights(as we can obtain them with a discount) but they constantly run into issues, whether it be shorter battery life or issues with the power button. I cannot recommend that flashlight enough

    I trust my life with Streamlight. TLR-1 on my G17, TL Racker on my 500, Protac HLX on my AR, Stinger DS/HL for my belt, and a Protac 2AA on my kit. All have performed flawlessly under adverse weather conditions and multiple impacts. Olight has reliability issues and the fact that they come programmed to automatically power down to a lower light level is big downfall. There's no feeling like clearing a dark alley only to have your light power down to 300 lumens.

    I've had 2 Olight VPL Pros(1k rounds each) and they have both had switch malfunctions which causes complete failure in the light being activated, thats right 2! Olight is very consumer friendly and always replaces it BUT given the unfortunate circumstances the light did not function when I need it the most! Long story short, intruder breeched my property and when I went to activate the light it DID NOT FUNCTION.... I literally had to hit the light like a old tv set and it activated it after doing so, got great visual on the perp and scared them off but holy jesus, not having that light function at that exact moment was a shitty angry feeling... Since then I sold off my olights and ive been on tlr-1 HL for about 3 months now (3k rounds) and ive had zero problems what so ever! I see ALOT of LEO personnel running this light and to even ask if they have ever had a problem with their light sounds completely absurd to them lol Olight is amazing for the bargain given the amount of output they offer but not all that shines is gold! Streamlight takes it home with reliability and peace of mind!

Many others have chimmed in as well with the same issues. You know what my biggest issue is? Look at all those lights. All of them... Look at the Glock... What do you not see? I've had 3 every day carries rotate through my locker. Longest I've carried anything consistent is 3 years, but usually by about 6 months, you can tell something has been carried every day, or used at least once a week. Battle scars. Finishing rubs. Drops. Keys and ANYTHING in your pocket. The Glock is polymer, you can't repair small scratches . Simply put, all of that gear looks brand spanking new. Sparkly like it just came out the box.

    • @highoctain113
      @highoctain113 3 года назад

      I guess the one on the keys does show some miles

    • @FunWithGuns
      @FunWithGuns  3 года назад

      Sorry, the glock was my girlfriends and she doesnt edc so it was nightstand gun. The m1t raider was carried everyday and still is until I get a replacement. The m2r warrior is a nightstand flashlight. Like it or not they were all used frequently and the glock 19 and valkyrie were tested numerous times. The keychain flashlight looks roughed up because it's on a keychain and being banged up by keys in my pocket all day. Other than that I have nothing else to say as I have had all of these for over 3 years with heavy use. The m1t raider with the most. I gave the m2r warrior to a relative because of how unreliable it was. They seem to have a good coating and even my gen 3 glock 17 which has had heavy use, doesnt have a ton of wear to it while being holstered/upholstered numerous times over the years. Good coatings definitely help but not to keys scratching against them everyday in a pocket, hence the extra wear.
      My biggest issue is youtubers doing positive reviews on products straight out of the box with no wear or use. You should have a bigger issue with that than someone giving an honest review and having this many issues with a light that looks like it had no use. Hell, even when I gave the m2r to my relative I was bragging about the lumens and we couldnt get it to light up because the batteries were dead. That was olight batteries and after maybe 1 week of not turning it on with a full charge. Take it for what you want. Just my honest opinion or listen to the youtubers that are getting paid thousands to do commercials for them..

    • @highoctain113
      @highoctain113 3 года назад

      No I did see that the keys wore on the key chain light. I corrected myself, but that's kinda what I was referring to was the youtubers that do out of the box reviews and get paid for them. Anymore that's kinda what youtube is for products, just really long commercials raving about how great a product is... Then I go out and pick one up cause the reviews were so great and the product doesn't last a month... Remember the solar charge battery packs? I got 2, neither one charges in the sunlight, and both sat where they could get sun for weeks, no charge.
      I can see plain as day that the keys have miles. But the others, they look new. And there's no way the valkyrie has miles on it. Only reason I'm considering olight is because of the charging system. No other company that I know of has that kind of ease on keeping the battery charged.
      I had a stream light ( several ) as a soldier and as a mechanic. Streamlight is a great product, but you could plainly see when they are used in theater, or on the job, the finish doesn't last at all. If olight had been around back then, I would have run them through the paces and probably gotten the same conclusions. In the end I really hope an american brand will take some ques from olight.
      I wasn't trying to bag on you as a RUclipsr, I was more bagging on most " reviews are glorified sales advertisements. Media has figured out how to play us all like puppets.
