A good no-call on the last play. Defender was facemask to facemask with a wrap-up tackle.

On the Illegal helmet contact on QB question..I would have no flag, Good No Call. Defender makes a wrap up style tackle on the QB, he doesn't launch and his head is up, the contact is incidental to his wrapping up for the tackle. NO Foul

On the 2 point try I think the ball crosses before he’s down. On the potential targeting on the QB good no call.

If the state/schools want to pay for it why not…but most states can’t even pay for more than 5 on the field or a play clock….

In Utah, we don’t have replay for any games, including playoffs. I’d be all for it if it could be implemented well but many small schools could never do it.

Good no call on last play Ryan. Our state doesn’t even have replay in championship games, at least not yet. It all sounds like a good idea to have replay in reg season but 99.9% of schools don’t have the camera technology available to do it. Plus it would take more officials to work it and many states are shorthanded. It’s simply impractical.

Clean hit on the last play. I would support Replay here in Maryland for the state Final games since the stadium (Navy-Marine Corp) already has the equipment. Other than the state finals no way - the parents alone would want replay on every play

I say no to replay. I was a color guy for a school's radio broadcast. And, I see no helmet to helmet contact in your final example.

on the illegal helmet I could see the " want to " have it called as a coach but as an official my flag would've stayed nice and warm in its home.

No to IHC on the last play. No to replay - expense, training, personnel. As high school officials we are essentially one step above a hobby. Even the NFL won't go to full time employed officials. I work my butt off, study the rules and look at every bit of video I can but I'm also retired and love doing it. The degree of commitment varies widely with high school officials. Expecting many who work a full time job, raise a family. have other important commitments to spend time learning and operating a replay system in addition to their other responsibilities that in no way will be determinate is a fool's errand.

If that WING Official isn't TERRIBLE he runs in there and makes a CALL instead of walking in like he doesn't want to be there.
What are they teaching these Refs in Louisiana? Does NOBODY run training organizations out there?
That guy would NEVER get a Varsity game HERE if that is how he is going to work a game.
No wonder my Association has put 8 Dudes in the NFL and has at least 1/2 a Crew or more in the SEC ACC B1G MAC Sunbelt AAC OVC and who knows where else.
We train EVERY WEDNESDAY for our 1st 2 years and MOST Wednesdays for every year after that.
Nobody other than a 1st year guy who doesn't know yet is WALKING IN from the sidelines AND that guy isn't working anything but PeeWee and Mighty Mites until he does.
And YES we do High School, but we work Saturdays in the Youth Leagues, Sundays on the Catholic Grade Schools and do Public MS games on Tuesdays along w JV and Freshman games on Thursdays to TRAIN UP our Rookies with Experienced Guys.
We even do this with our White Hats by getting them Reps on Youth and MS games as the Referee in those games after they have proven themselves as BJ LJ HL or U.
Our Youth games ALWAYS have at least 1 experienced Varsity Guy or College Guy working them and at least 1 medium experienced Varsity Guy with 2 1st or 2nd year guys who always START on the Wings. Or instead of 1st year guys just a decent experienced Crew to work with someone who is trying to LEARN R U or BJ to move off the Wings onton the Center of the Field OR to become a FJ or SJ so they can work there during Playoffs.
YOU HAVE TO TRAIN REGULARLY. But... you know what... we will just keep getting to the NFL and D1 here in numbers much higher than we should based on our numbers because WE TAKE IT SERIOUSLY here.

Until they can get all the perfect angles covered, no change. Because the angles we get are hardly helpful on plays like the one shown.

On the alleged IHC, it apoears that the defender contacted the QB chest-to-chest and wrapped him up. Legal.

On play #1 at goal line, whee is the wing during the play? Did he feel no need to crash in to get a better view? And when he did come in, it was a stroll like he was looking at used cars on a lot or something. That missed fumble on #2 is hard to believe. Even the BJ could have seen that one. As for the last hit, that is an obvious no call.

I'm okay with it, but there would have to be a pay raise involved due to the extra time it'll take to officiate these much longer games. Also, IMHO we should have an extra "white hat" in the review booth making the call on the replay to speed up the process. This would add even more cost to the schools.

If the schools want to pay for it, I am ok with replay
You made a point of paying the officals more and you will get better officals- great officals make mistakes

On the right side of the defensive line, the defender cuts an offensive player. Flag down, enforce the penalty and replay the try. To late for that now, I guess

Good no call on the potential targeting. Tackler did NOT lower his helmet. At best incidental helmet on helmet but not on purpose or tacklers “bad”. Not a fan of the instant replay concept. Imperfect players, coaches and officials (Ryan excepted) make it more interesting and keep the game flowing!

NO on IR, except on Televised State Championship games. On the hit on QB, didn't lower his head, didn't launch, no foul.

Illegal helmet contact i could see going either way. Id have no problem with a flag there. It is the qb and he is defenseless just standing there did not move ar all and the D still arguably takes aim by launching himself upward making the tackle near the head area with obvious head contact. Was it “initiated” tough to say but i think the defenseless nature and the qb not moving put the onus on the tackler.
I think it is defendable either way, but Im definitely good with a flag here.
We have to get some of these needless head contacts out of the game or it will be forced to happen but governing actions and the game will be even more like flag football in another generation.

No replay expansion. Replay would require refs who need to know how to operate the equipment. That's not illegal helmet contact.

The whole “his progress was stopped” to cover up an inadvertent whistle is a sad situation.

    • @auzmo
      @auzmo 7 дней назад

Well it only really benefits the offense more if you call it inadvertent if the defense hasnt yet gained possession. Forward progress uses a down. While inadvertent they get the option of replaying the down.
Inadvertent whistle is never good which is why it is important to avoid them strongly.
