As a musician myself, I crave to hear songs like this from today's artists. Unfortunately, there's a huge lack of musicianship with the (popular) music of today. There's nothing like jam sessions at the end of songs, that extends the composition an additional 2 to 3 minutes more than what you hear on the radio.
A lot of the kids like their music either sampled from old records or music made from a drum machine. No instruments, switching chords, virtuoso instrumentalist, original music composition etc. I love rap music, but it should have never dominated R&B, Funk, Soul, and musical art forms. It ruined the balance. Rap music is very lazy, they rely on the beatmaker to sell music. The beatmaker makes his music from sampling and or a drum machine. Then sells the beat to whoever is the most popular rapper at the time, even if he disagrees with the rapper's subject matter. Nowadays, rappers don't even want to be produced, meaning how they should sound on rapping over the beat. Now they just want the beat and put no effort in making a serious composition. Because they know the beat and hook will carry the success of the song. SMDH. How I long for the days of Michael Jackson, Prince, and Rick James.
That LA sound is 🔥🔥. Big Daddy Kane and them folks from the east coast wouldn’t never had a hit if it weren’t for our Mary Jane Girls yes ours because they from my city LA

"All Night Long" is a 1983 single from the American girl group Mary Jane Girls. Although the song has been heavily sampled since its inception, including by artists LL Cool J and Mary J. Blige, the bassline samples Keni Burke's 1982 single "Risin' to the Top".
Every time that song come on, my beloved and I would look each other in the eye, and make a promise for later....lol decades later we look at each other and make a promise not to forget yesterday ❤️🙏

I can’t properly describe just how much I love this song
This brings back in my school days. I remember this back in the day, brings back memories.
"All Night Long" is a 1983 single from the American girl group Mary Jane Girls. Although the song has been heavily sampled since its inception, including by artists LL Cool J and Mary J. Blige, the bassline samples Keni Burke's 1982 single "Risin' to the Top".
Also Big Daddy Kane’s “ Smooth Operator”
But owned by the Mary Jane Girls. Second To None.
don't forget j lo's song too
And redman tonight’s da night
