Dang verse 2 got me thinking about someone I shouldn't really think about 😅
nah its says, here come the men in black!, galaxy defenders...
Did no one thank u for the lyrics lol❤
@@shirleybutler2623 girl lisen to it nowwwww🎉❤
I was 13 years old and just arrived from a foreign country. One of the first songs I heard in U.S. soil!!
I am in my 50's now and everytime I hear this song always takes me back to that new adventure and mystery of what life would be like!
Ms. Patrice's song is interwoven in my life until the end...thanks Ms. Rushen 💚
I'm 65, these were the greatest songs to dance to. In my opinion anyway... I was just 25 then. The eighties were great... Just like the Twenties and fifties and sixties. The seventies... They were ok. People will differ with me.. BUT DISCO lol
Where were you originally from if you don't mind me asking

WOW! What an incredible experience for such a beautiful song to be like the theme song of the opening scenes of your life’s movie!
Thanks for sharing that!
Thank you for sharing this. We are close to the same age (I'm 56 now), I was in Las Vegas growing up when you arrived!
My mom’s song and today is her heavenly birthday!!!🎈🙏🏽🌹🎂
Happy birthday to her❤
Happy birthday to your mother! God bless!

God bless and happy birthday, keep dancing in heaven 💃 ☀️ 🏖
Happy birthday 🎉🎉😊

That is a true song! A really music for my ears
Here comes the men in black the galaxy defenders 😂
I was todays year old when I discovered this was the original 😅
I’m 33 and sometimes I feel like I belong to the 70’s 😅 obsessed with 70’s and 80’s music
You will never make a mistake by listening to the 70/80 music. It brings back the great memories and makes you think about your youth days 😊😊😊
I'm 31. Im stuck with older music too. Nothing to listen these days, sadly
Check out the playlists on my channel. They're slightly biased in favour of UK music since I'm from England.
❤ there u go girl 🎉
Same here 😂💃
I don't know what's better... The bass, the sax or Ms. Rushen killing us with those vocals every chance she gets... 🔥🔥🔥 Undisputed classic
Patrice Rushen, what an R &B talent, too underrated. The bass just slaps, and even tho this song came out in '82, it's still excellent.
1982 is one of the best years for music in my opinion.
Bridget not only did Patrice co-write this song. she produced the track too.

Renato Kendi 👏🏼👏🏼

Dont forget "beep! beep! beep! beep!..."
👏 👏💃💃🎶🎶🎶2020
She's not only beautiful, she's a great singer!
Nice inversion!
She is also an incredibly talented jazz pianist. I first heard her playing piano on a Jean Luc Ponty fusion album from 1976 called Aurora. She soloed with great lyricism and soulfulness.
@@steelydad5863 Thank you for your below surface level analysis into the depths of Her talent, beyond her appearance
...and a great songwriter and producer. She produced and co-wrote this song.
I saw her live in a concert in '82 at my Alma mater North Carolina Central
To think that the "MEN IN BLACK" theme song was based on this song.
When Covid ends, im going to Times Square and blast this on my bluetooth speaker so everybody can dance
Yes! Do It!❤️
you might forget so here is a reminder
have you gone yet? idk how covid is in times square, but in my city (Tallahassee, FL), things have returned back to normal pretty much
@@shelbyisgreen I have no idea what the city looks like now
Give me a holler when you do!
The song is timeless, the recording is superb, the bass is masterpiece, her voice is so beautiful and I'm glad I found it.
Incredibly, despite this song is considered by many (me too) a classic, in 1982 did not achieve a great success.
Perfectly said.
thats the thing with these R&B masterpieces they are timeless
they stole this song from fortnite
Who was the bassist here? My guess would be Marcus Miller
Born in '95 but the 80s are by far my favorite era for music. I will never get enough of this song.
Born in 89, this was my mib and introduction to funk
95' me too 🤙
95er too! Always lover and appreciate all these classic hits! 🎉👍🏽
1993 guy here and I MUCH prefer 80s music over most modern-day music.
95 here too and this is my jam
I was 22 when this came out, divorced mom and working 2 jobs and going to school...I get tired thinking about it.. But this song always got me going...
Happy 65th Birthday Patrice Rushen
Amazing, how time flies. Grtz from Germany, thinking about good times.....
I'm right behind ya girl!!!!!
Nowadays, 65 years isn’t considered old for a human anymore.
@@cbsteffen In our totally youth-oriented society now, I disagree; we become disposable.

And to think her record company (Elektra) didn't believe it would be a hit. She proved them wrong all the way to a Grammy nomination.
what what hahaaa, it's the MIBs yall
I was 31 years old when I first heard this song and still dance to @ 71. Awesome jam.😊

One song u would want 2 hear once a week!!!

Best ever bassline and still hippest tune 2020....dancing baby dancing
Hippest tune in the past 40 years

George Michael sampled this too? In which song?

Fabulous song from Patrice. Sadly many people only know her for this but she was a truly talented musician working with many great jazz musos--her piano contribution on Jean-Luc-Ponty's album Aurora is superb!!!
Respect.✊🏿She's phenomenal!
@@tm1464 If you are interested listen to Renaissance, a track on Jean-Luc-Ponty's album Aurora. It is instrumental but in 3 parts with violin, then acoustic guitar and lastly Patrice on piano--awesome
track.
Thanks for sharing
I'll check that out. I didn't know she played with him. I saw him in concert back in the day in San Diego. Fantastic.
Thanks bro I will check her albums coz am also a fan of jazz music

San Francisco. 1985. Myself and my husband and his best friend Jay - both models - danced around the ROTATING dance floor that night to Patrice's
"Forget me nots". We were on FIRE. Patrice was FIRE. We won the dance contest complete with a bucket of champagne rolled over to us - a magical night thanks to Patrice. 67 now; so blessed to have those memories. The entire album is incredible!
👏👏👏😁
Never been to California, but I've dreamed about it, hope those memories stay with you forever!
