- Taking my friend Craig's 89 silverado that he got for FREE for a test drive. 126K miles, 5.7 350 TBI V8, PW, PL, and a horrible topper and running boards that will soon be ripped off.

Those are about the best trucks around. Learning to drive on one. 350,000, abused and still ran good. Good power, decent brakes too.
Ive had mine for 15 years. 89' just like this. Still use it daily. Im the second owner and knew the first. GREAT truck. It had only 51,000 miles on it in 2001, and lightly used all highway miles. He kept it in a round top shed all those years and used it on quick fishing excursions once in awhile.
Ya I think I have this same exact truck in my barn rn I’m trying to restore it and it’s a single cab longbed with no brakes and blue just like this one
Still have it ?
I got a 94 K1500 and love it. I mostly drive when the weather is bad but i love to hear that 350 engine startup and roar. These are by far the best trucks around and reliable.
This truck are much better than a Toyota Tacoma
That's a great truck I have a 95 Silverado with z71 and a 350 and it's got 219,500 miles and still going strong.
That was my first car/truck I ever owned. I miss it so much
My grandma has a 89 1500 5.7L with about 58000 and I'm about to get it for my first car.
That's super nice. You have a great grandma. Did you get it yet?
RAJohnson713 I hope you still have it that truck will do you for a long time
@@danl.r2379 what the hell are you doing here bro?, do you have a 89 chevy to?
Nice taking grandmas truck?...you should be so proud of yourself
@@marcodavila10 he never said he was taking it... he means that his grandma is giving it to him.
You must be fun at parties.
I have a 89 5 speed manual and I love it! Great truck.
I had a 1989 Chevy C1500 305 V8 Scottsdale. Now I have a 2000 GMC K3500 SL 350 V8.
I would kill for that truck! Gimme! You don't know how lucky you are to have an '89. That Silverado emblem you showed on the door near the end? That was only on the 88 and 89. Also that upholstery was only 88-89.
The 88 and 89 were the only ones with split head lights as well
best got darn video I've ever seen
What a very interesting gauge cluster.
My 89 Chevy Silverado C1500 350 5.7 TBI nicknamed I lean has 256000 MI regularly maintained best truck by far I have ever owned I even pulled down a three-bedroom home with this truck
If you need help or advice on how to change the idler arm , I just put up a video. It's step by step
@vidman008 I wish I would've showed the topper up close, it's garbage lol. A bunch of weatherstripping is peeling off and the back hatch doesn't open all the way and it closes crooked.
Free for a test drive? What do you mean by that?
"Burnout" that's cute you spun a few pebbles
Not that anyone will care but My Dad owned a 1995 GMC Sierra ext cab (gave it to my grandpa) and my Dad before this GMC, his first truck was a 1991 Chevy Silverado 1500, he had these really cool carbon fibre tail lights. I might get the 95 Sierra when I’m 16. I’d take care of the rust, lift it 3 inches, Retro looking stainless wheels with big tires. Keep the tail lights that my Dad has on his 91 (put it on the Sierra) and install front LED signals and maybe tow mirrors just for looks!
Like play from turning left to right? Thats to be expected on an old truck, my 96 c1500 had some play when I got it, but my mechanic was able to tighten up the steering box.
That interior is in great shape! The dash on those trucks are usually all jacked up from the sun. I noticed the plastic door panels. Is it a Cheyenne or Scottsdale? Also I'm sure that truck will have no problem wrapping that speedometer around lol. I want to see more videos of this truck!
Got a white one sitting out front, were making a 350 to put in it. Its got over 300,000 miles on it
The steering column is loose where the tilt is which can be easily tightened, but no it had tight steering.
How can u make the steering tighter mine is loose like if im driving a boat
I have a similar truck, its an 89 gmc 1500 and its red inside. But has a 305 instead of a 350.
Hoping I get my grandpas 95 Sierra For my first truck and I hope that’s what I start learning to drive in (I’m studying for my learners right now)
Yeah, they should of. I'd just never seen a Silverado with the plastic door panels before. Always saw them on the lower end trucks.
I also said silverado when we got out lol The power windows and locks should've gave it away!!
I love mine I just hate the issues I have with my transmission even though it's a fairly new transmission.
nice truck
Never mind, just saw the Silverado decal :P
I have one, sadly none of the dials work anymore
How does the older trucks compare to current Silverados on tow and haul?
I have a 92 Cheyenne with a small block 350 and I've hauled a full load of fresh cut wood and a gravity trailer so I'd say pretty damn good
+Andrew Scott keep In mind i have a C2500 3/4 ton
Not a bad truck for free.
Not bad at all. Little buffing and a stick of dynamite,,, BOOM it's a rocket lol j/k
lol It is a nice truck Buddy.
I have a bone stock 94 and she goes over 100 pal just gotta give her bean
I have a close friend that has a 1993 k1500 350 silverado trim, he got stiffed at $5000 in 2008 with it having 110000. I want to buy it and he wont go under $3500. it presently has 146000 miles on it.
Is this the Gordy I used to go to school with?
Mines just like that mines red, with straight pipes
I got the same truck
I have a 1989 step side v8 five speed
do they have good power??? I really love those body styles and I like he old school interior
**the***
Danny Menary I have a 92 with a 5.0L 305 and it has a fair bit of power. Like the kid in this video, I also got mine for free.
I've got a 95 Silverado with a stock 350 and I'll just say that it's no slouch on the road! It'll definitely throw you back in the seat.
if you get the vortec 350 (96-99) they have 255 hp, which was best in class at the time.
+Danny Menary I'm very very close to buying a '95 Silverado. My mechanic is going to look at it, but he thinks that so far it's going to be a good one. it's got the 5.7 v8 350, RWD single cab longbox. It'll be my first truck, and I always wanted my first to be a Silverado.
It only has 60000 miles
Put a flowmaster on that truck boy !!
Not everyone is as cool as you
lol i just got one for free too
I'm got a 2500 89 Silverado
How do you like it? Do you still have it ?
Wow grain bins full of pot
My 89 1500 will go over 85
My 92 C2500 3/4 ton Cheyenne does about 115-120mph
I've had one up to 115
i think it would do over 85 easy my 4.3 chevy did 175km
Play nice Ed...Not all trucks can live up to your Ford standards lol
I Will Not Ride In The Truck. If The Radio Doesn't Work.
Jermey M then use Spotify or pandora on your phone. Fm radio are just old
You don't need a radio when you have a Chevy 350 👍
@@robbie4860 Exactly don't need a radio when you got that V8 5.7 Lt 350 rumble music coming from under the hood like my late pops 94 K1500 !!!
Damn free? That's good for a few hundred dollars
That is loaded for an 89, I guess chevy didnt know that it's paint would come off as you were driving.
Gordy Schwarz or that the beds would rot
Gordy Schwarz still better than a ford
I appreciate old fords and chevys and they both rot. I love 88 chevys because my uncle who passed away now just this year bought 1 new and the odometer quit working like 20 years ago at 300,000 miles and it is still in our family today. My other family had fords and ive seen them go same distance mileage wise and better body wise. So fuck off.
I had my 89 2500 up to a 125 when a cop was doing radar
Reading coments... funny how everyone wants or hopes to get grandmas or grandpas trucks..
Get a. Job and buy one..
I just traded my car for one today
