I really enjoy these ball reviews. I like seeing the more honest depictions of the ball motion instead of a constant stream of strike footage - it gives a more accurate show of the way the ball will act when it comes high, etc. Keep it up and thanks for the great reviews
I miss your righty videos. :) Just was reminiscing over when this ball was new. I now have 3 of them (along with 2 Visions), after originally getting it based on seeing your review and take on how it would play. Still is a house shot killer...........
Got my ball today and you were dead on bout the winner. My pro shop guy seen me throw and he said after first two shots he recommended it. So thanks again
Awesome review Luke I appreciate your reviews and how you said you didn't cut out any frames in the filming and all. It was just straight up and up front. Thank you.
Looking at getting the Halo Pearl and the Phaze II to fit into top end gaps of my current arsenal(Intel, Marvel Pearl & Blue Vibe). It seems like the HP might fit my need when I want to go with a stronger ball instead of balling down.
So I have discovered that I have an issue. I had a bad/mediocre sectionals because I only have one strike ball, a Hy-Road Nano, and the reaction essentially died. I went to my Pro Shop right after to get my ball re-gripped, and I walked out with a Demo Crux Prime for $150 and an OG Dare Devil for $50. I was planning on waiting for the Halo Pearl to come out but oh well.
I haven't thrown the idol pearl but the super idol is really similar to the idol but the super idol goes longer and you can get deeper with it. Super idol is really smooth on the wet to dry
Thinking about adding this over what was going to be an Idol Pearl/Astrophysix/Axiom Pearl. Do you think it's a good choice even though it's discontinued? Rest of my arsenal is Omega, P2, Pro Motion, MVP, and Hyroad X. Thanks! :)
Per your advice I ordered a Phase 2 and Idol Pearl. I want to pick up a strong assym for oil, sport and/or tourneys. Thinking Crux Prime, Hyper Cell Fused or Halo Pearl. Which one should I lean toward... Med Rev, Med Speed Tweener. Thanks!
Those are all really different balls, more depends on what you're after. Hyper Cell Fused and Halo Pearl aren't going to be as good on oil unless you sand them, which you could, that cover takes really well to surface, but the Fused might be the best choice as it's probably the most versatile of the 3 in regards to traction with surface or motion shiny.
Jeff Fenton I have both the Physix and the fused... I love my fused but I’m not a fan of the Physix. It’s too straight of the end of the pattern for me. I’d probably go with the Crux Prime if I were you.
Hey Luke, I watch everyone of your videos, and your definitely the guy I look to for ball reviews. But I wanted your help for something. I have a hyroad x and I love it, as well as a pitch black. I’m a 2 handed bowler with 550+ revs and 16+ mph. I’m looking for a ball that’s gonna give me the most area. Hold if it misses left, hooks if it misses right. Mostly for house pattern. Thanks for any help
I love this review thank you. Do you think this ball would pair well with the Eternal Cell? Im looking for something to carry the lane a little bit more in later games. Thanks for you time.
How's this compare to the shape the hy-roadX gives? For me the idol pearl gave me over under while the hy-roadX didn't. The Halo pearl seams like something that could compliment the hy-roadX for some people.
I think so, the Idol Pearl is either longer and stronger or longer and smoother than the Halo Pearl for people . . either way it's a compliment, I don't think anyone has a lot of overlap either way.
The RST X2 or Rubicon UC2 are pretty close, I think the X2 is closest on shape, but it's a little longer, the UC2 is closest on length, but a little rounder on shape. UC2 probably the closest overall
I'm a big fan of the code black but I need something that will go a little longer down lane for me and I'm looking at the intense fire and the Halo pearl. I know you said that both are almost identical but what would you suggest would be the better choice if you had to pick one?
Winner Solid is virtually the Torrent, so that's an easy one, and this one would be a compliment to the Intense. You might have a little overlap but the Intense is much earlier and more aggressive.
How is it compared to the fused? is the pearl version of the cover cleaner and flippier or chuggier and smoother. some of the storm/roto pearl/hybrids seem to not make sense in that way
That’s a very smart comment, you’re absolutely right, quite a few of the pearls have actually been earlier and chuggier than the hybrids which has been weird. The Halo Pearl IS cleaner than the Fused but not flippier, the Fused is still the king of flip BUT eTrax seems to have a more traditional hybrid to Pearl relationship
My Pearl is a ball I left in the bowling alley, the ball never reacted on fresh the lane condition, and with carry down it reacted less to me this ball isn't for every one. The original Halo I never leave home with it. Just to let you know I used both ball in Korea and Japan. My PAP is 5 3/8 up x 5/8.
How many games did you get on it? Etrax is a way different animal than MicroTrax, it needs 15ish games at least to really break in. I can't imagine this ball not reacting on a fresh condition, length and pop is what it was built for. Something sounds suspect here lol . .
How would you say this ball handles oil? I’m looking to get a ball for longer patterns and heavier volume. Any recommendations? I’m a two handed btw. Thanks.
Normally no. Asym pearls generally give enough length that entry angle into the pocket is still steep enough to kick corners. Asym solids have trouble bc as they get that dry, they read to early and hit weak bc its been rolling too long
The reason I ask..my regular league bag consists of the p2, halo pearl and the idol pearl.. but when the p2 becomes too much moving to the halo pearl seems like a lateral move.
@@brandonthrasher7282 Ok, that makes more sense. Probably still going to be a bit smoother than the Halo Pearl, but board coverage is likely to be really similar. If you kept the P2 at box, sure, but even with just the minor shape difference, they'd both be in the same bag for me. Shapes are more important to me than hook differences though.
They're way too similar, I don't see much of a need. There are SMALL nuances or differences between the two, but not enough for really anyone to carry both I wouldn't think.
Luke Rosdahl do you have a recommendation for leftie stroker that would pair well with the physix? Storm or roto is what I’ve always thrown but took some years off with moving and all. Thanks
I’m a college bower looking for something that will be good on more challenging sport shots.. 500-400 revs and very little axis rotation. I’m choosing between this and the hyper cell fused in my arsenal. I intend on having the idol pearl in my bag too. Which ball would you recommend?
Probably this one, the Idol Pearl can be lazy down lane and the Fused can be straight off the end of the pattern, I feel like this one will be more versatile, and the cover likes surface too
Thanks Luke. I appreciate the feedback. I was looking for something with some more pop in the backend like my snap lock. I prefer the pearl cover stock as it gives me better carry. I was hoping the halo pearl would fill that need.
I think this one is longer and stronger, Tamer thinks the CB is longer and stronger. Mine like Charles was pretty round, definitely smoother at the breakpoint, but the Halo Pearl is the smoother one for Tamer's group. Either way this isn't a CB replacement, and not entirely sure there's anything out there right now that is.

Great video Luke! I look forward to seeing your reviews and getting your thoughts on all of the new releases. Keep up the great work!
good lord this ball at gage centre might be the sexiest thing i see all year
Thanks for the advice I was leaning towards the winner myself so you helped me with that.
This is awesome man! I really like the comparison between the idol Pearl and this ball!
My local AMF league is giving bowlers their choice of this, or a Crux Prime at the end of the league. I'm so torn...

Luke Rosdahl I know I did, but I want the Halo Pearl now too.
Once again, excellent review Luke!!!
I decided to go with the halo burn same cover that's on the super idol. Great review as always

It definitely would fit, you've got a lot of really smooth stuff on the top end there.
@@LukeRosdahl cool...im going to check out ebay later for one in 16#, maybe get lucky on Amazon. Thanks!
I was waiting for a complaint of this video being delayed "because urethane." Haha

That damn intro music made me want this ball lololol...so goood
It's the theme music from Halo 😁

It's got that long hard arc feel to it. I don't have over/under with the IP, but I feel like there would be less with this one because it's asym.
Luke I have idol pearl so do you think I could use halo pearl in my bag or to similar
I think so, the Idol Pearl is either longer and stronger or longer and smoother than the Halo Pearl for people . . either way it's a compliment, I don't think anyone has a lot of overlap either way.
Is there a ball out today that compares closely?
The RST X2 or Rubicon UC2 are pretty close, I think the X2 is closest on shape, but it's a little longer, the UC2 is closest on length, but a little rounder on shape. UC2 probably the closest overall

Luke what’s the difference between the super soniq and the Phaze 2
Did you see my Super Son!Q review? I showed several comparison shots and talked about the comparison in the video

You might look at the Idol Pearl, similar shape to the Black, but symmetric core, so longer and not quite as crazy down lane
How about a compliment to the og intense? Hy road pearl and the hy road x? Im looking to replace my torrent btw.
Winner Solid is virtually the Torrent, so that's an easy one, and this one would be a compliment to the Intense. You might have a little overlap but the Intense is much earlier and more aggressive.

I already have the halo solid, would the the halo pearl still be a good pearl to get or Should I go for the idol pearl
Yeah, it's a great compliment to the Halo. Familiar feel but much cleaner down the lane and stronger off the spot
good review vid
u should make a video compare to other high end bowling balls like the sure lock, and code x
Those are strong sanded solids and this one is a shiny pearl, nothing really to compare, they're just not similar reactions.
Sooo cant which you like better, this ball or the idol pearl lol
They're both really good and will do great in the right situation, I don't ever want to be without either of them.
My Pearl is a ball I left in the bowling alley, the ball never reacted on fresh the lane condition, and with carry down it reacted less to me this ball isn't for every one. Well it’s a shiny pearl, so long and heavy isn’t really going to be its thing, you’re going to want the original Halo or a Crux Prime for that
I know that late in the day big asymmetric solids tend to have a hard time carrying corners... is that true with asymmetric pearls too?
Normally no. Asym pearls generally give enough length that entry angle into the pocket is still steep enough to kick corners. Asym solids have trouble bc as they get that dry, they read to early and hit weak bc its been rolling too long
@@BranCanGaming thanks, the one type of ball I understand the least is asym pearls
How would this compare to a No Rules Pearl? Would it be a possible replacement?
Noooo, nowhere close. No Rules Pearl is much smoother, Tamer actually had a comparison with it in his video, mine was too old to compare.
Alright thanks for the response Luke.@@LukeRosdahl
Hi Luke. What pitches to you recommend for two handlers/no thumb? I use 1/8 rev, 1/2 lateral and when I no thumb release I get some minor tendinitis.
That sounds ok to me, might just be really ripping through it with your fingers
Is there room for the halo pearl and the phase 2 in the same bag?
Yeah, why wouldn't there be? Halo Pearl is an asymmetric pearl and the Phaze 2 is a symmetric solid, pretty good compliments, zero overlap.
The reason I ask..my regular league bag consists of the p2, halo pearl and the idol pearl.. but when the p2 becomes too much moving to the halo pearl seems like a lateral move.

@@LukeRosdahl i believe those are the numbers. Im used to 4x3x2.5....if those are the pin buffer numbers then, yes. Thanks man!
is this good for heavy oil and sport profiles?
Maybe not the heaviest of oil or all sport conditions, but it's going to be good on a lot of things.
@@LukeRosdahl well i mostly play on 42 stone street and 43 feet dead mans curve
Would you say this ball has more backend then the Storm Snap lock?
Not really, I think the Snap Lock was a sharper motion and this one is a little rounder, but it's definitely still a strong motion.
Thanks Luke. I appreciate the feedback. I was looking for something with some more pop in the backend like my snap lock. I prefer the pearl cover stock as it gives me better carry. I was hoping the halo pearl would fill that need.
How does this compare to the HC Skid?
Not sure, I never had a Skid, but I think the Fused is closer. Fused is a little stronger overall, but a lot of people have seen a similarity there.
How is this ball compared to the Code Black? I'm looking for a Code Black replacement.
In my opinion, it looks sharper down lane and a few boards stronger overall. The code black was a very hard arc for me.
