A quick test drive in the new 700hp Ford Raptor R. This truck starts at $109,415 and competes with the TRX.
Whether you are a TRX or Raptor fan, lets just be thankful these things exist
And thankful the raptor can at least give the ability for 2wd
@@mattgray6436 it’s kinda shocking that Ram did that. They could of got better epa numbers by having 2wd which would reduce the gas guzzler tax they hit you with when registering them
@@brokenwrench404 It's not too surprising. The 392 wrangler is AWD/4WD only and their pickup trucks don't have the ability to disable stability control in 2wd either.

The way that it just launches around the landscape it's like a cheat code.
It has the heated steering wheel! I'd buy at MSRP for sure, but not the 20-70k adm or aftermarket cost. Currently drive the TRX with some engine upgrades pushing 787 to the crank. The TRX performance and interior quality (including audio) is hard to beat!
If you are a pavement princess I agree with you, however if you off-road like category both trucks are in then the weight of the TRX is impossible to hide. There is no need for more HP, more suspension travel is much more beneficial

Check it out I don’t know how much the markup is in other states but in California there’s a $100,000 mark up on this vehicle plus the other taxes and fees that they want to add on. Overall they want us paying $250-$275,000 for one of these trucks in California. I have a buddy that is a sales manager. We’ve been buddies for the last 20 years. I’ve bought multiple vehicles off of him and he still can’t get me anything cheaper than 250. It’s outrageous and I still won’t buy it at that price if the price has dropped down to the actual $150,000 mark then yes I will purchase it. Other than that an F150 it’s not worth $250,000 regardless of the supercharger I’d rather purchase a fucking TRX for 120K.

I had a 2014 and currently in a 2020, yes I would absolutely buy one if I could find one without a 50k dealer mark up. I am looking forward to checking more of your channel.

I have had 4 raptors . I currently have the trx and i love it. Have had it for about 2 years. You can get one at msrp im sure

I opted out of the moonroof though because they have issues with the track and seals when you off-road the truck a lot.

Yes I would buy one if I could afford it. Currently have a gen 2 Raptor, so I gave the same complaints. you have astutely pointed out a lot of of the issues driving one daily. Thanks for your feedback. Hopefully Ford listens for the next gen.
Also drive a gen 2 raptor, and totally wish i could afford one. Could even afford a newer gen 3, the msrp on those are still about 85-90k. But My gen 2 gets about 13 mpg, I test drove a 2023 3.5l ecoboost it got 15-16. So im definitelay looking to get a gen 3.

I like they made the heated steering wheel a physical button. On my Raptor it’s software and when Apple CarPlay is used you can’t turn on or off the heated wheel 😂
That's the only reason I havent bought a Raptor ... I've owned several Fords and they were all built like shit.
The TRX is just way better sounding and has better interior for less money.

So I noticed that the front tires are free wheeling..the TRX is an all wheel drive and more control on the dirt after test driving both...bought a TRX instead..

If I had that kind of money it would be Raptor without a doubt.
If I had the money most definitely buy this truck then where the plastic is I would change that to all carbon fiber material for did an incredible job
The raptor and the raptor r both have 4.10 gear ratio that means they didn't do anything except bigger motor and suspension parts and axle so I would put 35s back on being it was originally made for them I believe they put 37s to be bigger than the ram obviously
Just like with the regular Raptor 37 package, they strengthened the frame. Plus suspension tuning is different
They also strengthened the drive line, transfer case, and some transmission components. 35's would definitely make the truck faster, but I'd keep the 37's for offroad-ability since I actually use my Raptor.
I’d keep the 37’s and regear for them with some 4.56’s. They wouldn’t give up the extra ground clearance. I wonder what those 37’s actually measure at on the vehicle. If they’re bfg’s they’ll be less than other manufacturers since they run smaller

Ford guy first before a ram but the price difference for the same type of truck would make me get a trx. 110 msrp Compare to 80-90 msrp. Not to mention whatever the dealer is going to add on

TRX, think it has a better interior. Lower price point, and the hellcat engine has been tested since 2015. Oh and I'm biased because I'm mopar guy lol.

Very true….the down side to the TRX is, 4wd only. No choice to let loose in the mud or burn the back tires off if you want to. I’m a TRX fan also, I agree with you on all of your points but Im going with the R. It should be here this week!

Have you driven the TRX? Which do you like better? RAM has a better sound system and a lot better interior quality, IMO.
Yes, I would go for the TRX. I liked the raptor r marginally better but the price difference between the two is enormous.
The Raptor is the better off road truck, no question. But since most pavement princesses prefer asphalt, the TRX is likely a better buy for them.

Looking really hard at the Raptor R. Definitely will not get the panoramic moonroof. Moonroof/sunroof don't belong in pickups. Sucks you can't the tailgate step without the sunroof. Have no idea why Ford package them together.

Personally i like this raptor R a little better than the Ram TRX TBH just by the look and how much lighter it moves. TRX may be a little faster but in general you can't go wrong with this Raptor R. It's a off road predator.

Not sure what ram was thinking by making the trx all wheel drive. It would of increased mpg for their epa rating and also would of reduced the gas guzzler tax for registration. Ford need to offer a 50 gallon tank for raptor and bring back the scab raptor

I'm guessing it has a plastic valve cover, intake, thermostat housing, oil cooler and oil filter housing, sump and transmission oil sump all of which will last 7 years before which Ford will say all parts on permanent back order due to Covid/ supply issues, no longer supported...only comes in complete assemblies, cheaper to buy a new car please see Jeff in sales.
