So much irony here-- the son of God, loved by the Father and rejected by men, the creator of the universe, born in a barn; the omnipotent birthed as a defenseless baby, in the care of teenagers! Amazing and overwhelming is his love for us! Glory to God!
If you think this is beautiful, can you imagine how beautiful Jesus Christ must be? 😢😢😢. We don't deserve His salvation, but so glad to have accepted Him into my heart in 1983. ❤
This has been my favorite version of this song for over 20 years. It never fails to make tears well up.. It always reminds me of my mom, and dad. Christmas when I was a young boy...
I remember my nephew opening our ears to Mannheim's arrangement of Silent Night. We lost him (my nephew) about 6 years ago, but I'll never forget him opening my ears to this wonderful rendition of Silent Night. I miss you, Danny, and I can't wait to see you in Heaven when my time comes.
This version of "Silent Night" is THE STANDARD by which all other versions should be compared. This, simply, is incomparable. Merry Christmas one and all.
Agreed. I actually hated Silent Night for decades--until I heard this version. I fell in love all over again. No wonder Mannheim Steamroller has been the most popular Christmas music of all time for the last 35 years or so. Chip Davis is truly a musical genious.
Makes me cry everytime I hear it. I save it just for me every Christmas as I don't think I could listen to it in front of anyone else without crying. I think of all my friends and family that have passed on and think of them when I listen and hope they are in a place as beautiful as this song. Truly a masterpiece.
I So agree. Me too. I had a Home Video with this Song in it. 1988. I lost the Video and VCR From a Divorce. It devastated me. All I have Are Memories. Not Sure if my Dad Has Copies of this that I can Make into a DVD. 😢 I am pretty sure he doesn't though. I am Pretty sure My Dad Entrusted me with the Videos. Just all so sad. 😢
Same here. Here it is, early Jan, 2022 and I am at work at my desk, alone, listening and crying. It captures the beauty and quiet joy of the birth of Our Lord.
I first heard of Mannheim Steamroller in the late 70’s. When I learned they had recorded a Christmas album in1984, I purchased it the first day it arrived in my local record store ( remember those?) It made me weep the first time I heard it, and has been continuing to do so with every subsequent hearing. Simply the most beautiful version of this song every performed. I will listen to this for the rest of my life and it will live in my heart forever.
A simply beautiful performance of one of the most sacred songs ever written... As the other posters have stated so well, this is exactly how this song was meant to be felt and played, and it brings tears to my eyes every time I hear it. This clip is truly "one for the ages"...
In December 1989, my boyfriend gave me a Mannheim Steamroller cassette he made. Side A ended with Silent Night, side B ended with O Holy Night. I loved that tape and listened to it all the time that holiday season. Three months later my dad was diagnosed with cancer, 3 months after that he died. To this day I can't hear this song without thinking of him and his last Christmas season with the family. It makes me miss him all the more. Thanks for that memory Chip and the gang.
I know how you feel, Silent Night was my father's favorite song, this in particular brought tears to his eyes. Cancer took my father's life, but he is always with me in my heart, specially with this musical piece. God be with you. 🎄
My favorite Chip Davis arrangement. I love all his Christmas songs. Every year it's a must to listen to Mannheim at Christmas. Merry Christmas & cheers from eastern TN
I Love this. I am crying. Takes me back to 1988. Beautiful Christmas. One of the best. My Dad recorded a lot of it. All but my Aunt and Uncle weren't there. Never heard this until 1988. Still brings me to tears. This Song was in the Video playing in the Background. All so Perfect. I miss that Video so much.
Lost an Uncle and a Father in law on Christmas Day. Their favorite days of the year. Also remember my last Christmas with my Dad. Cherish the time you have, never miss a chance to tell your loved ones they are loved
Rush Limbaugh played this on last Christmas show in 2020, I also have to steer clear of others when this song is on. I started listening to Rush when AM 990 in Knoxville Tennessee started carrying his show. So this is a tough Christmas song for me.
Christmas can too often be punctuated with grief and pain. Three times in my life I've experienced losses beyond words at Christmastime and this utterly poignant and serenely uplifting version never fails to bring a tear when I hear it. I remember not just what the Silent Night was about but that things are always blackest before the dawn. Sleep in heavenly peace. ..
Until this moment, I never knew Chip Davis sang on this song. I had the CD and would sit in my car and listen to it, for the privacy and solitude and sheer joy of those notes that tugged at my heartstrings. Thank you for posting this!!
Everybody else's version of "Silent Night" ends up a far distant second compared to Mannheim Steamroller. This is simply the BEST and yes, I do it cry every time I hear it being played
This piece is so beautiful. The very first time that I heard it many years ago, my heart was touched forever. God's love for us expressed so eloquently in this timeless musical composition. He sent His only begotten son to save us. The ultimate expression of God's love. What a majestic sacrifice! Hallelujah!! :)
Absolutely Beautiful and Wondersome even after the Years of Performaning... You couldn't have created this Music Masterpiece without knowing Our Lord 🙏
I first heard it on TNN when I was a kid. I was asleep on the couch and was sick with a fever. I woke up and thought I was having a fever dream. I saw the poinsettia flashing on the screen and was very confused by it. But the music was beautiful, I was calm and happy. It makes me cry every time I hear it. Now I watch the video and see the little baby towards the end and I just can't anymore.
The Mannheim is a band destined to continue playing as long as people are willing to continue the Band. While the members of the Band Change, the music of Mannheim Steamroller continues. Each new member adds to the continuing success of the band.
I would play my tape, yes tape so you have an idea of my age, while at work and co-workers would come to my desk and see tears in my eyes. I would play it for them and they had the same reaction. That and goosebumps. You imagine the night Christ was born.
For many years now, probably since this was released, I have played this as the last music I hear at the end of Christmas day. This year is the first time I have ever seen it performed.
Fun Fact? This was ALWAYS Rush Limbaugh's FAVORITE Christmas song and Recording! - Mine too! - God Bless You Chip Davis & Crew! - Manheim Steamroller - FOREVER ! - I still have ALL of the ORIGINAL Vinyl Albums! - Simply...AMAZING !!! FACT !!! - My All Time FAVORITE? That's EASY! - Fresh Aire II - Side one!! :-)
Christmas is never complete without playing Manheim Steamroller!! ❤❤
Simply one of the most hauntingly beautiful pieces of music ever written.
The absolute best version of Silent Night ever! So beautiful, peaceful, and magical!
It's my favorite too
So much irony here-- the son of God, loved by the Father and rejected by men, the creator of the universe, born in a barn; the omnipotent birthed as a defenseless baby, in the care of teenagers! Amazing and overwhelming is his love for us! Glory to God!

😢😢😢. We don't deserve His salvation, but so glad to have accepted Him into my heart in 1983.

One of the best versions of Silent night for sure... Its beautiful in its simplicity and that's what makes it beautiful.
From the 1st time, many moons ago, I heard this song I was completely blown away with True Amazement🎉🎉🎉🎉
This has been my favorite version of this song for over 20 years. It never fails to make tears well up.. It always reminds me of my mom, and dad. Christmas when I was a young boy...
Ilovethissong
Sounds so good, it makes me sad. Will there ever be moments of serenity and peace as I felt as a young boy? Happy Holidays to all.
It takes me back also to that magical place ...I cry out loud everytime I hear it 😢🎄❤️
My exact sentiments. I spread this as far and wide as possible every Christmas Season. The tears are unavoidable.
He left an amazing gift to you. Peace.
I could listen to this all day!
Beautiful.
This version of "Silent Night" is THE STANDARD by which all other versions should be compared. This, simply, is incomparable. Merry Christmas one and all.
I feel the same way. Simple, serene, my Mom loved this and I always think of her when I hear this
I don’t disagree but the words are so very special and meaningful as well. God bless and Merry Christmas!
The most exquisitely beautiful Christmas carol I have ever heard, and my tears flow-every time I hear it!

Made me cry, especially the violin. All of it is just beautiful. ❤
The song how it was meant to be felt and played.
Rush Limbaugh introduced me to this song on his radio show, he always played it the last day before he left for Christmas vacation.
Makes me cry everytime I hear it. I save it just for me every Christmas as I don't think I could listen to it in front of anyone else without crying. I wish the audience could have been more quiet during the song. I absolutely love this version of Silent Night.

This Is Awesome It's A Beautiful Song By Manheim Streamroller. Manheim Streamroller Is Legendary❤❤❤ This Song Makes Me Cry Listening To It.😥😥😢
Captivating
Chips was definitely “divinely inspired” when he arranged this version. Just like Handel was when he wrote the Hallelujah chorus.
Beuuu- ty- full.😎💜💜💯
This song always makes me think of Rush Limbaugh, he was a huge fan.
Thanks Rush Limbaugh for introducing this "band" to millions of people.

I'd love to know what kind of device is used to make that rushing wind noise at the end.
I'm not positive but I think it's just a wind sound effect.

Google it😉
it's just a white noise synthesizer sound...too loud IMO
