  • Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel formed an American folk rock duo that achieved massive success in the 1960s. They were one of the top-selling music groups of the era, with chart-topping hits such as "The Sound of Silence" (1965), "Mrs. Robinson" (1968), "The Boxer" (1969), and "Bridge over Troubled Water" (1970).
In 1953, Simon and Garfunkel first met in elementary school in Queens, New York City. They discovered their shared talent for harmonizing and began writing songs together. As teenagers, they formed a duo called Tom & Jerry and achieved some minor success with their song "Hey Schoolgirl" in 1957.
Despite their immense success, Simon and Garfunkel had a tumultuous relationship that resulted in artistic disagreements and ultimately led to their breakup in 1970. Their final studio album, Bridge over Troubled Water, was released that January and went on to become one of the bestselling albums in the world.
With their impressive musical achievements, Simon & Garfunkel were honored with 7 Grammy Awards[6] and were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1990.
