@ForTeachers i have a question, i am.confused like in which i can appear for the qts.. like i juz got ogfer letter from the university, i din even attend my orientation class yet as dey gonna cal tmrw for the orientation class so wil i hav to write the QTS before even joining college or after finishing first two semester..please ans it sister i am a new comer i am from overseas, i am.new to australia and its laws

I’ve never even heard of QTS. It’s crazy how many teachers have to take so many tests yet our profession is not seen with more respect. I think it’s fantastic that you are doing this giveaway.

It’s a fairly infamous test in the UK. I actually remember people who didn’t pass this graduation and not being handed a QTS certificate - which you actually need to teach. I remember it being really sad to see them receive their BA degree but sadly miss out on the actual QTS. Maybe there should be another way to decide if teachers have the correct knowledge required. But for now, we will just try to keep creating helpful content for those who take the test! Thank you as always for supporting us ☺️

For Teachers thanks for the good luck wishes, I rearranged my numeracy test for next Friday (8th March) as I recently discovered that I’m dyslexic so I’m entitled to more time now, which is really helpful 😃

Which parts in particular are you struggling with? If you send your email over to [e-mail] I can send you a copy of our conversion table :) Let us know any questions you have so we can help out! The tests are definitely tricky but try and book one in for a trial. You might surprise yourself!

Hi Daniel! I always think teachers should support other teachers as much as they are able. That’s why we started our channel :) I had a lot of teacher friends help me at the start and I believe in passing on the favour! Absolutely love the videos you both make together! I'm currently in Year 12 and about to start looking at the whole UCAS process and it says i need to pass a numeracy and literacy professional skills test. I was just wandering, are the tests you talked about in this video the same as the professional skills tests you have to take before you get into your teacher training or are they complete different tests?

As I told Ryan, I worked in a Primary School as an Admin Apprentice and got to meet so many amazing teachers who I consider my second family, and they inspired me so much to pursue a career in Education so I'm here working hard to achieve it :) I also have a friend who left at the exact same time that I did and she is teaching in Shanghai having a blast! So It is really exciting to see the wonderful opportunities that teaching provides.
Once again guys, keep it up, I know summer is going to be fantastic because you'll have more time to focus on the channel and it's truly exciting.

Maths I am totally dreading! It just seems so overly complicated. I mostly struggle with the mental section; as you only get 18 seconds I really need to work on this.

I was exactly the same. I spent so long revising for it! Mental maths can be so tricky. When are you taking your test? I promise it’s doable. If I can do it, so can you!

I've not yet booked either of my tests, my nearest test centre is over 80miles away in Sheffield and I don't drive; so I'm making sure I'm confident on both tests, then I'll book them on the same day to save the hassle of travelling twice. Thanks for the vote of confidence :D

I am thinking of going into primary teaching in the UK, but you hear such nightmare stories about work life balance. I have two young children so want to make sure I still have time for them and my wife! Do you think this is possible? What are your working hours really? Thanks :) Sam

Hi Sam! I think the nightmare stories are probably passed around more often that the positive stories. I have a lot of friends who have worked in the UK and found the balance to be acceptable. When we worked in the UK, we had two years of finding the workload intense, but it did start to ease off after a while. You do adapt and become more used to the system and learn which resources to keep/ adapt and which times during the year require extra work. That being said, we don't have any children of our own! Perhaps you could try working supply in different schools before settling with one to get an idea of the expectations in different areas. We both decided to move to Hong Kong to work in international schools after a combination of 6 years - we are finding the work life balance here is significantly better (not to mention the pay) is this an option for you and your family? Even if you just move away for a couple of years I believe it's beneficial financially. If you have any more questions please send them my way and i'll do what I can to provide answers :)

Hello! I feel as though I wasn't allowed to use my own paper, but I was given a whiteboard and a pen. I'm sorry if this rule has changed now but that is how I remember it. Hope this helps! Good luck!

Good morning, just wanted to say you have a great channel, great work :).
I had a quick question, I have an interview booked for my Primary PGCE in two weeks. I originally thought the literacy and numeracy tests were part of the interview (perhaps naively). But now it seems I have to book them prior. There is no way I can get up to date on the maths by the interview date.
Could you perhaps advise me a little bit on this please ? (Im from London)

You did the example question so so fast ! am I missing something ? it would take me twice as long. Was that a question from the mental arithmetic section ?
Also how long do you actually get per question ?

Hi Dee! Trust me, when I first started practicing for this test it took me SO long to answer the questions. I had to practice for weeks and weeks. I can’t remember the exact time. I think you can apply for extra time if you have dyslexia / dyscalculia. I hope you manage to pass soon! Let me know if I can help with anything.

For Teachers hello, just an update. I managed to pass both tests first try ! I took your advice and writing my 6,7 and 8 times table out during the practice question and this helped so much as well as learning the chart you showed. I somehow managed to get it all revised in one and a half weeks. For anyone else reading this... don’t leave yourself less that two weeks like I did haha I had to stay up till stupid o clock but managed to pull it off thanks to the many resources on RUclips ! Thankyou for your advice ! And yes it took me a crazy amount of time to answer questions whilst practising too and it’s crazy how quick you get ! :)

Yes it is. When I first did it you could complete it on the course, but now I believe you are required to pass before you are allowed to study. Hope this helps!
