Makes as much sense as Sherlock Holmes investigating the murder of Ebenezer Scrooge. Actually no joke, I saw a show called A Sherlock Carol about a week ago that had this very premise. It was actually pretty good for what it was.
Tamera's acting after Nostalgia Critic blew up on her really made me sad. The moment where she was happy after he said he loved Christmas still and then when he proceeded to tear her apart was actually kind of heartbreaking :(

That was the original title they were going for, but MGM changed it to “It runs in the family” because they feared people were gonna make unfair comparisons to the first movie.

"What's next? A Christmas Carol 2?" I actually saw a play called "The Trial of Ebenezer Scrooge" that took place a year after the story and it was about Scrooge suing the Ghosts of Christmas. It was weird.
Thankfully, 10 years later, they decided to try again, only this time they do it correctly. This one actually had Peter Billingsly come back, as well as the same actors who played Flick and Schwartz, and definitely looks and feels more like a feature film compared to this movie. And it didn’t annoyingly reuse most of the gags from the first film, sure they were a few callbacks, but they only lasted a few seconds. Hell, It’s even got 78% on RT, and Christmas Story 2 doesn’t even have a score.
The Christmas Tree ending is gorgeously passionate and genuine that leaves me in great respect, but there's something about the quiet subtlety of this ending that makes me tear up even more than Christmas Tree's can.

If it was written like this review was, it could make an amazing web series or etc. (It also made me hate that she gets with Devil Boner, since the ending kinda leaves hints that Critic might not mind her coming back into his life. Idk though might just be because of that damn cute cuddle scene.)
I respectfully disagree . I like that he gives depth to his characters and how well Tamara plays her, but I don't know. Reportedly, Hyper Fan Girl was based on real life female stalkers of Doug's. The ending makes me kind of uncomfortable knowing that. Like "Yeah if you stalk someone enough you too will be rewarded." I mean if the genders were reversed, I don't think a male stalker would be written so compassionately.

You know what would've made this movie slightly better... besides it not existing? Casting Bryan Cranston as the Old Man! He bares more of a resemblence to Darren McGavin than Daniel Stern. Bryan would've made a good Old Man. He'd go Walter White on the furnace and really capture the mannerisms more than Stern.
OR, even better: set it twenty years later, where Ralphie is married and has two kids. His oldest daughter, Sophie, wants a car, and so the storyline revolves around her. That may be lame, but look what the alternative was.
A dollar in A Christmas Story 2 would be worth a little more that $13 in 2017 $85 in the same context would be worth more than $1,100 in the current year.

This and The Lorax are probably my most favourite reviews from Doug. They just seem so genuine and actually make me feel an emotion in comparison the the actual material that is being reviewed. This one in particular gets me close to shedding a tear at the end every time I watch it. I guess if that makes me an emotional baby then so be it.
Wait! There was a second Christmas Story movie? This is actually the first time I have heard of there being a second one I didn't know this existed......And maybe it should of stayed that way.
Well, the thing is...this isn't the first "sequel". There were other adaptations of Shepherd's writings. A couple of these were shown on PBS a few years after ACS (but PBS did other adaptations even before ACS...including a much earlier "leg lamp" scene) and then there's My Summer Story/It Runs In The Family, with Kieran Culkin and Charles Grodin. But all of these were direct adaptations of Jean Shepherd's original stories, with his narration. (My Summer Story featured one of my personal favorites--the Dish Night movie theater fiasco and the Gravy Boat riot.) This doesn't have a thing to do with a word Jean Shepherd wrote--it just FEELS phony.

You know Your rant to Hyper fangirl Is what I wanted to give to the idiots I had to spend the past 13 years of my life being forced be within close proximity of 8 hours a day.
The adorable couch scene is giving me flashbacks to a few years ago when a girl I liked back then used to put her head on my shoulder when we watched movies together. I never did tell her that I had feelings for her out of the fear of rejection or of ruining what I thought we had. While part of me is happy that I didn't, because I was very emotionally unstable after having gotten out of a long term relationship only a few months before that, and I was handling it so bad that if my feelings had been reciprocated, I wouldn't have matured as a person between then and now, I still can't shake the feeling of regret that I never did, and the curiosity of what it might have led to. It's a very depressing kind of nostalgia, when fond memories are ruined by the concept of "what if," instead of just being appreciated for what they are; just small pockets of time that should be appreciated solely for the warmth and euphoria they made you feel, and shouldn't always need to be put into perspective by rationality. It makes me happy, but it also makes me want to punch myself in the face, and sometimes it even makes me want to die, but these wildly varying feelings almost makes me appreciate the moments even more just because of how alive it makes me feel to have so strong emotions about something in life. Regret is a hard feeling to handle, but it might make you appreciate the rest of your life more, when you have a sense of perspective of how good and bad things can be at their very extremes. I apologise if this is depressing and edgy, but I'd like to know if I'm thinking about this right, or if my emotions are getting in the way of my rationality in an unhealthy way.

25:18 this completely misses the point. The old man loved the lamp because it represented an accomplishment, an affirmation of his self proclaimed brilliance. Showing the whole neighborhood how great he was, that's the value of that lamp.
This was really sweet at the ending, but I thought what would have made it SOOOO SWEET and as hoping would happen is when she rested her head on him thinking he was asleep, is have him then open his eyes, and smile...showing us that he wasn't even asleep, or knew she was doing that.
That would be so cute! While I admired the Critic's creativity in his rant, I hated how much he was hurting her. Her snuggling up next to him at the end was great, but your idea would have made it even better.
I dont disagree, but I think him leaving the door open at the end was supposed to represent him welcoming her back, which I think is pretty sweet too ^^
Oh, my gosh, this review was powerful. I've seen it probably 3 times now, and each time, the final scene still tugs at my heartstrings. Props to you, Doug, you're truly a wonderful writer, and you have definitely inspired me greatly.
The only sin about this review is that Jeremy Scott's only in it for the first couple of minutes. Honestly, there should be a review for one of the worst movies ever (that hasn't already been reviewed) where all of the biggest names on the movie review scene get together. Think about it: Critic, Stuckmann, Jahns, AVGN, CinemaSins, Jon Bailey, Flick Pick, Schmoes, Black Nerd Comedy, all together to take it on. And in the end, they all charge a giant copy of the movie in LOTR style.

Seems like i'm much more concerned about the Hyper Fan Girl story arc than about the actual movie... It's so full of heart... I've watched this review once, than, to get clearer idea of Hyper/NC's story went back to Princess Diaries 2 after I watched Small Soldiers and it had a Hyper cliffhanger and now I come back to Christmas story and I'm just in love with the storyline. I know it feels like the end of her story, but i still hope deep inside that it goes on. This video, Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer and The Christmas Tree reviews are my ultimate Christmas trio, those to put me in a Christmas mood even though I hardly ever gave a shit about it before, as in my country people don't celebrate it much. Now I'm full of Christmas spirit and willing to do good stuff to people! Thanks, Doug, Tamara, Malcolm, Rob and the entire NC team. You literally made a huge impact on my life. I know others have already said it, but this episode really is one of Tamara's best. She's really funny and can excellently portray the emotions necessary to the scene. Obviously, the Nostalgia Critic won't last forever - I hope that Tamara continues to be in acting roles afterwards once it's done. Or whenever she moves on. Whatever comes first.
I think for an NC sketch Devil Boner should see this review and see how NC yelled at his soon to be wife and becomes uttterly enraged and he tries to kill the NC throughout the episode.
A "fun" fact: the director is the same who brought The Flintstones movies, Problem Child 2, the 1st Beethoven film and the two awful Scooby-Doo movie prequels

Part of why I love Doug's character is the Nostalgia Bubble he is taking down. Take The Nightmare Before Christmas.....that movie I saw in theaters and never heard of anyone else who did aside from the neighbor girl I went with. Now.....EVERYONE loved that movie as a child. So....that is similar to what happened to A Christmas Story. Plus- they had a LOT to market with in that nostalgia. Lamps, pajamas- etc. When in reality- it's a decent picture. But if you say anything less then "I LOOOOOVVVEE THAT MOVIE-" it's unacceptable.
King Mojo My Summer Story is a legitimate sequel. It's by the same director as the first, based on the works of the original author, and features his same narration. It takes place after the first too. The only reason the entire cast didn't return (only about 1 person returned) because they were all too old by the time it came out.
To be fair the old boiler furnaces that most homes had were huge and were often installed in the basement before the house was built. If you wanted a new furnace the old one would literally have to be disassembled and removed from the house piece-by-piece and would be incredibly expensive labor wise. Usually however they were simple enough to fix and maintain even if not at 100%. My childhood home had a boiler furnace that was probably 90 years old and it had to be 6ft by 6ft by 6 ft. Square it was huge and cemented into the ground.
I love how they imply that his brother died a few years after this particular Christmas but then when they get the fish the adult Ralphy stares my brother never knew what happened that Christmas and doesn't until this day....well unless you resurrect him that doesn't seem like he's ever gonna find out!

This and The Lorax are probably my most favourite reviews from Doug. They just seem so genuine and actually make me feel an emotion in comparison the the actual material that is being reviewed.
This one in particular gets me close to shedding a tear at the end every time I watch it. I guess if that makes me an emotional baby then so be it.
Wait! There was a second Christmas Story movie? This is actually the first time I have heard of there being a second one I didn't know this existed......And maybe it should of stayed that way.
Well, the thing is...this isn't the first "sequel". There were other adaptations of Shepherd's writings. A couple of these were shown on PBS a few years after ACS (but PBS did other adaptations even before ACS...including a much earlier "leg lamp" scene) and then there's My Summer Story/It Runs In The Family, with Kieran Culkin and Charles Grodin. But all of these were direct adaptations of Jean Shepherd's original stories, with his narration. (My Summer Story featured one of my personal favorites--the Dish Night movie theater fiasco and the Gravy Boat riot.) This doesn't have a thing to do with a word Jean Shepherd wrote--it just FEELS phony.
SharkBait19904 There is a proper sequel called 'It Runs in the Family/My Summer Story' which is by the same director as the first and is based off the writings of Jean Shepard (writer of the book) and features him as narrator again, like in the first film.
Luisa Bravo secret of nimh 2 was similar to another infamous sequel Highlander 2 the quickening.

The adorable couch scene is giving me flashbacks to a few years ago when a girl I liked back then used to put her head on my shoulder when we watched movies together.
I never did tell her that I had feelings for her out of the fear of rejection or of ruining what I thought we had. While part of me is happy that I didn't, because I was very emotionally unstable after having gotten out of a long term relationship only a few months before that, and I was handling it so bad that if my feelings had been reciprocated, I wouldn't have matured as a person between then and now, I still can't shake the feeling of regret that I never did, and the curiosity of what it might have led to.
It's a very depressing kind of nostalgia, when fond memories are ruined by the concept of "what if," instead of just being appreciated for what they are; just small pockets of time that should be appreciated solely for the warmth and euphoria they made you feel, and shouldn't always need to be put into perspective by rationality.
It makes me happy, but it also makes me want to punch myself in the face, and sometimes it even makes me want to die, but these wildly varying feelings almost makes me appreciate the moments even more just because of how alive it makes me feel to have so strong emotions about something in life. Regret is a hard feeling to handle, but it might make you appreciate the rest of your life more, when you have a sense of perspective of how good and bad things can be at their very extremes.
I apologise if this is depressing and edgy, but I'd like to know if I'm thinking about this right, or if my emotions are getting in the way of my rationality in an unhealthy way.

Honestly, there should be a review for one of the worst movies ever (that hasn't already been reviewed) where all of the biggest names on the movie review scene get together. And in the end, they all charge a giant copy of the movie in LOTR style.

This isn't the official sequel to "A Christmas Story." In fact there is one that was made way before this one. It's called "Like Father, Like Son." Look it up people it is a sequel to "A Christmas Story" it has the same actors in it and sorta the same plot too. I thought it was a pretty good movie, even though it not well known.
Theres a 1994 movie called "It Runs in the Family" (release title) or "My Summer Story" (current title) that is considered a sequel, but its all different actors. The 80's movie "Like Father, Like Son" has nothing to do with "A Christmas Story"

Seems like i'm much more concerned about the Hyper Fan Girl story arc than about the actual movie... It's so full of heart... I've watched this review once, than, to get clearer idea of Hyper/NC's story went back to Princess Diaries 2 after I watched Small Soldiers and it had a Hyper cliffhanger and now I come back to Christmas story and I'm just in love with the storyline. I know it feels like the end of her story, but i still hope deep inside that it goes on.
This video, Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer and The Christmas Tree reviews are my ultimate Christmas trio, those to put me in a Christmas mood even though I hardly ever gave a shit about it before, as in my country people don't celebrate it much. I know others have already said it, but this episode really is one of Tamara's best. She's really funny and can excellently portray the emotions necessary to the scene. Obviously, the Nostalgia Critic won't last forever - I hope that Tamara continues to be in acting roles afterwards once it's done. Or whenever she moves on. Whatever comes first.
I think for an NC sketch Devil Boner should see this review and see how NC yelled at his soon to be wife and becomes uttterly enraged and he tries to kill the NC throughout the episode.

This is actually part 3, the real sequel to A Christmas Story is My Summer Story that came out in like 1994.
I liked that movie a lot actually. With the spinning tops, Charles Grodin, Mary Stenbergen and gravy boats... It was pretty charming.
But this is a good example of when a studio doesn't have faith in a project... I believe if the studio thought that the original A Christmas Story was going to be such a cult classic they would have we signed the original cast and put out a legitimate sequel years ago
Part of why I love Doug's character is the Nostalgia Bubble he is taking down. Take The Nightmare Before Christmas.....that movie I saw in theaters and never heard of anyone else who did aside from the neighbor girl I went with.
Now.....EVERYONE loved that movie as a child.
So....that is similar to what happened to A Christmas Story. Plus- they had a LOT to market with in that nostalgia. Lamps, pajamas- etc. When in reality- it's a decent picture. But if you say anything less then "I LOOOOOVVVEE THAT MOVIE-" it's unacceptable.

King Mojo My Summer Story is a legitimate sequel. It's by the same director as the first, based on the works of the original author, and features his same narration. It takes place after the first too. The only reason the entire cast didn't return (only about 1 person returned) because they were all too old by the time it came out.
To be fair the old boiler furnaces that most homes had were huge and were often installed in the basement before the house was built. If you wanted a new furnace the old one would literally have to be disassembled and removed from the house piece-by-piece and would be incredibly expensive labor wise. Usually however they were simple enough to fix and maintain even if not at 100%. My childhood home had a boiler furnace that was probably 90 years old and it had to be 6ft by 6ft by 6 ft. Square it was huge and cemented into the ground.
I love how they imply that his brother died a few years after this particular Christmas but then when they get the fish the adult Ralphy stares my brother never knew what happened that Christmas and doesn't until this day....well unless you resurrect him that doesn't seem like he's ever gonna find out!
A Christmas Story Christmas clears it up, he travels around the world now.
