  • Here are the step by step instructions for constructing the Ansley Peace Drone fuselage from tape pre-covered foamboard. Different options for wing mounting and motor mount block are discussed. Please see previous videos for more details on the plane overall. Future videos will include wing and canard construction, electronics, and final setup.
    1 wing tiedown mounts
    2 hatches
    3 internal reinforcement
    4 tapering rear fuselage
    5 motor block
    6 insert wing tiedowns
    7 motor mount
    8 install lower hatch
    9 install reinforcing bulkheads
    10 final closing adjustment

Fantastic video! I'll be building one of these in the next month. I was hit by a driver using her cell phone, which fractured my spine and separated my shoulder,
I needed a light-duty project to kill time between physical therapy appointments and such. Thank you for taking time to do these videos and for sharing your immense experience with us n00bs.

Last month I saw that video I mention about the foam board wings and so I whent and bought the material and ended un building a complete glider in one night. I was so amazed on how easy was to make the glider! Test the glider on a field just to make sure it glided ok and then last week test it on the biggest mountain I could find. The plane flies like a dream!!!! Thank you so much for posting such wonderful videos! Absolutely inspirational.

I built 2 of your peace drones. On the second one, instead of using rubber bands on the inside of the hatches, attached to the full length carbon rod, I put a short piece of carbon rod crossways just under the full length rod & left them stick out the sides. That way you get the support of the full length rods but you can remove or replace the rubber bands. Great videos Ed. Enjoy watching them, all good ideas. Thanks for posting them, Lloyd

always loved this design and finally decided to build one! I've always loved your videos, but on watching them i now appreciate the level of detail you give, clarity of how its presented and best, these videos are packed with general DIY tips! Thanks Ed!

You sir, are a scratch build genius.

That is true, another good way to do it. As long as the force from the wing rubber bands is adequately distributed along the broad side of a card or the edge of a hole through a card I think you'd be good. I like your way for applications where removing the rods may be needed. The way I show is probably quicker to build, and for permanent mounting.

I came across your video on making foam board wings and I tried building one. I used to fly home made balsa wood glider a long time ago but that came to a stop when I started college, got married, started work as an aircraft Technician etc...ended up selling all my rc gear...in 2011 I decided to get into rc helis and after that planned to get into rc gliding again but after so many years I defenetly lost my rc glider flying skills. Didn't want to spend to much on materials to build a glider...

That is exactly right. No need to glue in the rods/arrows.

That sounds pretty good to me. I just try to make a hinge out of native foam but I think your suggestion would be just as well.

Im planning on building this plane in the next month or so. I have a spare Grayson Hobby Super Mega Jet motor with a 40amp ESC sitting around. I use a 3300mah 3s with this motor. If I remember correctly this motor is a 2230kv motor. Will that be sufficient for this plane? If not, then what motor, propeller, and ESC are you using?
    Thanks,
    Mike

Most comprehensive and advanced fuselage build so far. Are the formers glue or is the friction fit enough to keep it from twisting? Also, thanks for showing your ESC fitting, I'll try your trick

  • @ExperimentalAirlines
    @ExperimentalAirlines  10 лет назад

Mostly friction fit but I like to dribble a dab of CA glue at each side to help lock it in.

Why do you suggest the 3 degree of downward prop angle? Is this to counter a nose section that is slightly under weight? (as you can probably tell, I'm new to this)

What are your thoughts on completely cutting out the hatch's then attaching them using a strip of tape. I find it makes opening the hatches much easier as its not constantly stressing the foam. What do you thing?

Hey EA , ? what method do u use to get creases out of your foam board, say for instance in a bad crash a wing top gets creased, cause this happend to me on a flat dart wing and im afraid its to weak now.
