And let the church say 🙏🏿 Amen because God blessed this woman with an anointed voice that was meant to uplift, inspire, imbue, motivate, and move us to greater heights in our souls. God is good!!!!!!!
I was 13 when this was live. It changed my life. I didnt listen to it again until it came out on dvd some 30ish years later and I had still remembered it note for note. Thats is how indelibly it seared itself into my soul. 13 year old me connected with a higher power that day and showed me the whole dimesion of myself that is music and how music can connect you to something greater than yourself and be a spiritual outlet.
I was 13 as well watching this concert and had the exact same reaction- never heard anyone sing like that before and has been my favorite singer ever since
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Her epic performance at Live Aid gave her such a well deserved comeback & a mass of new fans all over the world.
The way she still singing behind the stage 😂❤
I listen to this song at least once a day. It never fails, this is pure medicine
Mach mal
Nobody will ever be able to sing this song or any song she touches.❤️❤️❤️🧡
Fantasia’s version of You Are My Friend did Patti justice. Patti stood up before she finished the song. Patti is one of a kind.
Patti is the Greatest Lady I have listened to many years the months I was in the hospital her music got me thru tough times
I love that all her performances of SOTR have different riffs and notes that made them unique 🤩❤
Miss Patti has no chill. Even at the beginning, she already gave a wig snatching note. Wow.
Patti showed all the way out my goodness what a Voice😁 She was giving vocal class and church to everyone in that arena that night.
Imagine this was the first time you ever heard Somewhere Over The Rainbow. It's a great tune and she left it all on the stage, fo sho.
Mama patti's resonance can destroy the stratosphere in a milli second 😆
Say it again 🔥🔥
Anybody who has something negative to say about Patti's style of singing doesn't season their food. Hell, probably puts raisins in their potato salad too. 😒
Teeheee heeeheee… love this comment
Oh my gosh!!!!!😂😂😂😂😂😂 You nailed that one!!!! You better read these children a damn book and let them know what time is on the clock! 👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿
Everyone has their own taste in music/singing for sure. One thing that can’t be disputed is that God gave Patti a gift and she uses it to the fullest. She is on the top 100 singers of all time list, where she rightfully belongs.
💯‼️😂
Did I just die & come back from that comment?! 😂😂😂😂
15 seconds in, and THAT note doesn't just bring tears to my eyes, it makes me cry.
I thought it was only me. It just ...emblazons the soul.
I can’t imagine a group benefit concert put on nowadays with modern bands that would be anywhere near as memorable or talented… and I was only 2 when Live Aid 1985 happened. I truly envy anybody who actually got to watch this magic while it was happening.
because they all need autotune & pitch controle when performing "live"
When I heard her version of this song years ago, this woman touched nerves I didn’t know I had and gave me goosebumps like never before 😩😩…My God I can never listen to another version of this song. Thank you patti for touching my soul 🥺❤️
18 years old watching this filled with dreams and passion wanting a better day. Gosh this was an amazing time. So sad where this world has come to. 80's ruled still does!💋
HAPPY 79th BIRTHYEAR belatedly (May 24, 2023) TO our INTERNATIONALLY OUTSTANDING GODMOTHER of SOUL, MISS PATTI LABELLE, who had a challenging birthday this year especially with the passing of Sister Rock Legend Tina on the exact same day! 😮 Nonetheless, despite the challenges of life that befall you & us each day, MISS MUSICAL DYNAMITE FASHION ICON PATTI LABELLE THANK YOU for INSPIRING us ALWAYS to WHOLISTICALLY ASPIRE for EXCELLENCE throughout LIFE'S JOURNEY!!!😢 We LOVE ❤U MAMA P!🎉
The Queen Of All Divas. She tore that song a brand new one. The only reason I brought the Live Aid dvd. And everyone has been attempting some variance of her version since she recorded it .
I don’t know if was the purpose of the concert… but patti delivered an epic and emotional performance, im speechless.
....she complained that she was not included in the song....WE ARE THE WORLD....she felt SNUBBED and DISSED....so for the LIVE AID CONCERT....BOB GELDOF....the producer of this event had heard about her complaint...and flew HER and HER BAND....VIA PRIVATE HELICOPTER....and she DID....THIS....
The intro it's a whole song!!! what a talent
The way Cher looks at her, in just pure awe and admiratiin
This brought tears to my eyes, quite literally in 1985 and does so every time I have played it since.
wonderful patti labelle listening ’’ forever young ’’ performance of talent
After that performance, we old folks in church would say, "she walked the dog". Wasn't nothin left to do.
this is like the fifth time I see this video and it makes me want to cry, Patti has a powerful voice ♥️
Happy 79th Birthday, Ms. Patti LaBelle 🥳🧁🎂
Her voice set that concert on 🔥. She killed it!!
Miss Patti Labelle, i love you! Brazil loves you! You are the most iconec artist of the world!💜💜💜💜
Absolutely spectacular!!!!! 💯
Damn, when I thought after all these damn years that the Apollo (with Sinnad) was her absolute best rendition of Somewhere Over the 🌈 and then I just ran across this interpretation and oh my gosh! My absolute favorite singer comppletey blew! Damn Yonce, Mariah, Whitney, Barbara, Whispering Ross, and Hateretha can’t touch this beautiful lady!
Not Hateretha! Got 2B Real is my go to when I need to be covered in shade!
Patti Labelle minha diva musa da música pop internacional 💗
Such a powerful voice, so many good artists played that day, some of these are forgotten.
Good Lord! I didn't even know she was a part of Live Aid! That is, folks, how you sing a damn song!
Back stage sangin her ass off! Cmon now!
She's my rainbow.. when I go over the bridge.. golden stairs.. tx u my sweet lady.. always
2021 and still the best
Brings tears to my eyes.
She's a gift to us from above 💞
Cher smilling, amazed to the power LaBelle 4:56
Literally sang herself off the stage!!
lol this clip takes me way back I used to play 4:19-4:30 over and over and over lol so funny her voice was SO MAGICAL ON THAT PART LOL
RIP to the person that had to follow Patti's performance
Great Singer !!
"THE QUEEN"
My Queen 🔥🙏👌🙌😭😍💖❤️💞
Greatest performance ever.
one of Prince's favorite vocalists....enough said. She's a diva...if you dont think so, you're an idiot. How somebody gon' break her microphone like she did, singing "Forever Young", and then in a stadium of 100,000-plus people, can still be heard singing off the microphone that she broke and laid down on the stage?...up to that point, I had never seen or heard anything like that.
That why she remains the best vocalist of all for me.
@@philippejean2345 Whitney is
Who could dislike this video?!
Only some insane idiot.
She is the greatest singer in the world’s history.
Ameiiii o dia dessa live ela arrasou 💗
3:16 😮💨MY LAWD! If there was ever a human singing siren…THAT WOULD BE PATTI!🔥🔥🔥
It's quite ignorant to me how so many lower level demons can criric Patti LaBelle's Vocal Performances throughout her career, but they won't do it to the leading singers of today. Make it make sense. This Queen has been singing her fave off and her heart out for over sixty years, show some respect. I'd like to see any of the leading singers kerp their clothes on and sing live for an hour show. This lady, this Philadelphia Soul, Legend of Soul and American Pop Music had paied her dues, slayed for yesrs and owe nobody anything.
6 am. me and hilda on a sunday night, enjoying this.

Eu canto essa música eu só digo uma coisa ela não e fácil é pra quem tem voz garganta etc...💗💗💗

You can't get mad at the woman for breathing life into a song that was barely living. Lol
You can’t have any event in Philly without Patti

I do love my Patti, but before you label her the best female singer in the world. You need to hear Rachelle Ferrell.
It’s just a LITTLE bit over the top. Just a LITTLE bit.
But…
Try this at home - will never work😂
That was Patti back in the day. 😂😂😂

I know that millions of people love Patti LaBelle's singing and she had a great career. But I just don't like that nasal quality in her singing voice. She has power, range and style. I want to, but I can't enjoy it.
Hell
??
Too much changes, doesn't looks like it self. The song is so much more beatiful than she does!
GIRL BYE!!
@@patgorden5002 unseasoned grilled chicken eaters over there, no need to consider.
Don't watch then. Simple. Everybody has preferences.
She ruins songs like this.
It's terrible isn't it?
To different for me. It’s not meant to sound like this version.
@@desperatemohammedantheworl5833 do you like patti label ?
Nah trust me she ain’t ruin it... I’m guessing u haven’t listened to her other versions then smh
she made the song 10x better. she brought an entire different feeling to the song. she was determined to get over that rainbow
Animated and dramatic and powerful but the voice was never a thing of beauty. The phrasing was poor and agility lacking compared to her rivals, with an ugly tone and sharpness. Having said this her voice is made for big venues and rock styles. Her operatic whooping head notes were electric and unmatched as was her belting and going from belt straight into head whoop in the same note, which only she can do so effortlessly.
patti Labelle had no rivals.
@@ChyanneLaqueen1 Of course she did, which is why it took her over 20 years to get recognition. Her voice was not a great stand-out voice until she hit her 40s and even then it had flaws and lacked instant star quality in terms of tone and beauty of sound.
@@markdrinkwater1508 You're
without a clue of history or the music business
in the 1960s if you believe a twenty-year-old
black woman in 1964 could just walk into a
record company, sing, and get a contract.
Other than Aretha or Dionne, what black
female singers in the 1960s were mega stars?
If it was so easy back then to be a black solo
female star ... pray tell why there were so FEW
of them? You may not care for Patti's voice or style, but
clearly the public does and roundly dismisses
your hogwash about her being ordinary or
unable to convey ferocity and beauty in her
music. Six years Aretha recorded for perhaps the
biggest record company in NY at the time. If
success is all about the artist's talent . then
you need to make sense of how with all
Aretha's talent and access to great producers
and musicians through her record company,
she was basically unknown for six years? Using your logic Dionne was Aretha’s rival, being she had success while aretha was unfortunately releasing flops after flops unti ‘67
@@markdrinkwater1508 Watch
Motown Returns to the Apollo and try this BS
about Patti being run of the mill or ordinary.
@@ChyanneLaqueen1 She was never ordinary, she developed into a huge soprano by her 40s and the way she used it for dramatic effect was fabulous and entertaining. But, the voice was never a beautiful voice, it never flowed freely and the tone was always ugly and sharp. In her 20s it was sharp, in her 39s it was nasal and ugly in sound, her agility regards melisma is just average and her phrasing was poor. Let's try to be honest.
i AM A FAN. BUT THIS IS THE PERIOD WHERE SHE DID THOSE TERRIBLE THINGS WITH HER VOICE. YES, WE KNOW YOU HAVE A TALENT, WHY MURDER THE SONG WITH THE HISTRIONICS AND OVER SINGING? SHE BECAME MORE TONED DOWN AND TASTEFUL WITH HER VOCALS IN THE 90S AND INCREASED HER FAN BASE. BY THE WAY, THIS IS NOT ON THE LIVE AID DVD...WHERE IS IT FROM?
It IS from Live Aid! It may not have made it to DVD but there were millions of us with a stack of blank tapes and VCR! I recorded the whole thing.....six full tapes and I've still got them. Her set was FABULOUS (not my kind of music at all). I don't like the vocal gymnastics either but she put her heart, soul and every emotion going into that performance. She even carried on singing when her mic failed (and the crowd could still hear her!).
patti couldn’t contain her gospel self during this era but no of the stuff she does is terrible.
At the end of the day to each his own, GO QUEEN PATTI!!
Nobody asked u for an opinion from your sedentary position.
@@bonobo2go I could so appreciate people like you. “Not my style but she was fabulous” That’s true honesty, I wish a class of “know it all” would take note of you.
She truely knows where the rainbow ends
