My ‘08 Executive is the one purchase I’ve made in my 66 years, where I have absolute zero buyers remorse. I rode Harley cruisers for years, but had to quit because of gout in my left foot, and arthritis in both hands. Took the fun out of riding for sure. I retired last year and wanted to start riding again, and the Burgman caught my eye. I bought a beautiful one owner flawless machine with low miles. And the price is right on these bikes. I’ve got plenty of power, lots of comfort, no clutch or shifting to worry about, just twist and go! I rode from NH to Florida and back comfortably and without a single issue. I’m currently looking for another one as a second bike. Especially where they don’t make em anymore. Ride on brother…..
@@janeprescott980 Absolutely go for it brother. By 06 they had the bugs out of them, so it will be the same as one that’s 10 years newer. Good luck on your purchase!!!

This bike is the best tourer I’ve ever been on. Had 2 Goldwings, rented Harley Road Glides, and a KLR 650. This beats all. The electronic controlled CVT is an amazing work of engineering and wizardry. You can putter around city streets smoothly and unhurriedly. And when you put hammer down it’s like a turbine engine, smoothly accelerating to interstate speeds. The underseat trunk swallows up my large duffel bag and I’m gone for 2-3 weeks. Wind and rain protection is superlative. In a downpour just tuck in slightly and your elbows get a little wet. Passing trucks on the road is a piece of cake, with the 500lb curb weight keeping things relatively steady. I weigh about 200 lbs and consistently get 55-65 mpg. Granted I’m a conservative rider and rarely in a hurry. But even at 75-80 mph I still get 46-50 mpg. Absolutely love it and will ride it till I can’t anymore. 😊
They stopped producing them because people kept complaining about the belt snapping and unfortunately when the belt breaks it's internal they have to rip the entire engine and transit of the bike to replace the belt and the belt alone cost $800 that's not including the $2000 they charge you to replace it Making it almost a $3000 fix any time the belt would snap. It was a bad design and unfortunately it cost them In the long run so they stopped producing the model because they didn't want to redesign the trans
@@IFixShet Maybe they can find a way where it doesn't Snap. And they will start making them again. Either make them fully automatic or a shifting scooter. That is What the problem is people beat On them and think that something isn't going to break. Things do break. What do you think

Those are not gears. They are preset positions on the belt position. And you say you can't feel it shift, that is because the belt just slides up and down the pulley, and not shift like motorcycles. All scooters do the engine braking because the centrifugal force keeps the belt engaged until you are down to about 5 mph(varies per bike). Enjoy your point of view on the bike. Hahaha, seaweed in my diet 2/3 times a week. You do get used to it and start to like it after a while. If you are in to DIY, you can buy a head rest out of an Isuzu Rodeo, bend the two rods to fit in those seat holes and have a nice backrest. Anyhoo, I know your channel is focused on drones, but I appreciate you sharing the Burgman rides.
Except it does have nylon gears that's what moves the belt across.....lol would you like me to show you what happens inside the CVT I'd be more than happy to show you my teardown?
@@IFixShet Wow, yes. That would be great. The CVT is in the center of the frame and you have to remove the engine to get to the CVT. But that would be an awesome video. Those nylon gears down the side are not the CVT. They just work in place of a shaft/chain/belt to drive the rear wheel. That's why a shop charges about $3000 to replace the CVT belt. Nothing on this scoot is like any other scoot.
@@Scootphoria the reason I say six gears is because it gives you six speeds so to make it simplified for the people that don't understand it's easier just to say gears I understand that it's just moving back and forth for the belt positioning but when you're talking to someone who's never owned one it's easier just to say one through six. The nylon gears obviously are what move all the internal parts for the final drive system
Don’t spoil it for me, I thought it was done by little tiny men in orange overalls and a sprinkle of pixie dust. I’ve been leaving little bits of food on the engine casing as a Thankyou for them. Yes I am friends with Sean from srk cycle however it might outclass some bikes but definitely not in the Thousand CC range. Sean has gotten to ride one and I own one I have gone against cars with this and it does not even slightly hold up to some fast cars like my 600 street bike will. It's a quick maxi-class scooter for sure but it's nowhere near the power of any kind of real decent street bike it has explosive take off but after that it lands on its face really hard when it comes to getting to the top of the Power Band
You can also manually shift technically it has six gears and it has sport mode. You can use the paddle shifters on the left handle grip to shift up or shift down
Thanks for the reply. My understanding is that the CVT belt in a car transmission is made of metal while that of a small 125cc scooter is made of some rubber fibre material. For a 650cc scooter, I am wondering if the CVT belt would be made of metal links just like that of a car CVT transmission.
If that's the case, it would explain the powerful and smooth performance of Suzuki's Burgman 650cc maxi scooter. And when it comes to servicing, you would have to use CVT transmission oil to perform maintenance service on the CVT metal link belt, just like you would do on a car CVT transmission.
As it should 2018 is not 2022 everything gets older and tech always gets newer but that does not change how incredible this machine is and it's design is perfection. Suzuki understood how to put 650 cc's to work and make it very aggressive like a sport bike. It is the only scooter with the low center of gravity with the handling and maneuverability in it's class.
