- In the summer of 2020, Dan left home for his dream roadtrip. Armed with fly fishing and camping equipment, some leftover food from the pantry, and more time than money, he set off to live on the roads of the American West. This first video of the series tells the first leg of the journey from PA to Casper Wyoming, and the Grand Teton area. Enjoy the video, leave us a comment, and follow along over the next few weeks as we share this awesome adventure!

Enjoy it while you can! I'm 54 and still dreaming of making a trip like that! God bless and thank you for serving our country.
Thanks for the kind words! It's a great experience for sure. I hope you get to make the trip sometime soon!
Everyone has their inadvertent fly fishing catch phrase. Yours is "let''s get 'em back in the water" haha. Love it man, can't wait for the next episode.
Hahaha so true! Lets get em back in the water
This is my exact trip but in reverse, starting in Alberta, Canada. This summer I planned to drive down through Montana, into Yellowstone, and end my trip in Grand Teton NP. Thanks for the uploads, you are basically planning my trip for me
Alberta may be the most beautiful place i have ever been. Jasper especially!
Enjoyable. Engaging. Appreciated the just right amount of travel footage. Brought back good memories. Oatmeal with peanut butter and chocolate for dinner. It took me awhile to connect those dots, but, bon appetite!
It's a tough combo to beat! Lol
Great video and congratulations on becoming an Army Officer. From a 26 year Veteran Thanks for your Service.

Loved the video! I'm from the MD/SW PA/WV area and now live in Austin. If you ever want to fly fish in hill country, let's link up!
Yes!! Absolutely love the hill country! Great bass opportunities
By far the best fly fishing youtuber
Really appreciate that! Thank you!
smashing trip! and that was one hell of a drive. living in Ireland we complain about any drive more than 3 hours haha
It was quite a grueling drive for sure! Thanks for tuning in from Ireland!
A trip I always dreamed of doing. Tight lines!
Thank you for watching! Tight lines!
content like this is great to see. its real
Enjoyed this one! Good stuff Dan.
Thanks for watching, Mike! Glad you enjoyed it!
What an amazing beginning to the trip. Nice fish!! I took a month long trip from VA to CO with my best friend right after college myself, spent much of the time camping above treeline in Colorado. I think those memories will always be among my favorite. Now I live in CO and can fish in Casper whenever I want. Love Wyoming. I'm excited to make some videos fly fishing this year up there myself. Can't wait for part 2!
That sounds like a great trip! I need to explore Colorado some more. Thanks for watching!
Really enjoyed the video! I also did a solo road trip in June/July 2020 driving from Texas and fishing my way through Colorado, Wyoming, and Montana. Trip of a lifetime and the fishing was amazing, but I never want to drive that much again! Thanks for sharing the great videos
I totally feel the same way! It's a long way to drive when you are all by yourself! Glad you enjoyed the video and could relate to the experience
Excellent stuff, man! Enjoying following along.
Really appreciate that! Thanks for the support, as always!

Your trip reminded me of a road trip that I took with my father in the early 1990s before heading to the Infantry Basic Course at Fort Benning, GA. Great trip. Thanks for sharing.
I'm so glad I did this trip. I'm stationed at Fort Gordon GA now and really miss wild trout

How I fill my time between teaching classes online during their break= Backyard Angling video. I have missed your content. Love the video. Thanks for sharing. This should be epic to watch unfold. Its a huge undertaking, but I know you will crush it. Thanks for sharing and good luck with the new job and living in SA!
Absolutely beautiful job putting together this first part of your trip. Looking forward to your next one.
Thank you very much! More to come!
Good stuff my friend! Great job catching those big rainbows out of the North Platte. You saw some awesome country. I would like to spend some time in the Windriver Range. Tightlines!!
It was an incredible trip!!! Good to hear from you
Great video. Love the adventure. Love that you took a detour. The open road is so fun!
Nothing beats a full tank of gas and a flexible itinerary!
Beautiful scenery and some beautiful fish! One podcast I listen to a lot on road trips is the Jocko Podcast, goes over a lot of life lessons and stories from his time as a Navy Seal. Also goes over stories from past military backgrounds I find interesting as a history buff. Can’t wait for the next video!
I like his podcast! Only listened to it a few times but he has a lot of good life lessons to share
Wow. I'm loving this video. You are living my dream! I hope to do it some day. Can't wait for the next video. Stay safe!
Thanks for watching! I hope you get to do it someday!
Great audible! Rewarded with a couple of beauties. The under appreciated, often overlooked, but never forgotten twice - toilet paper. What a great start to this 4 part series. Will Doug’s flies make a 2nd cameo? Only one way to find out.
Haha we will have to see!! Thanks for watching!
Great video man! I actually road tripped solo from NJ to Montana this past summer.. Looking forward to the rest of the series!
Nice! You can totally relate to a lot of this then! Glad you enjoyed and thanks for watching!
At 7:09 in the video your GPS read Munster RD! I grew up on the lower end of Munster and only live about 15 minutes from there now.

What kind of lunatic would dislike this? There's nothing to dislike
Hahaha agreed! For some reason, for every video we post, there is a dislike within the first few minutes of the video being up... who know! Thanks for the support though!
Maybe people that don’t like the tons of commercials?
