The Incomparable is going to be WEIRD. She's immense, 1000 feet long (that's nearly 150 feet longer than a Lexington) she had a VERY narrow thin belt of 11-inches over her machine spaces, otherwise was about as well protected as Repulse beyond that. Was meant to do 35 knots (and would probably have a turning radius of about the orbit of Jupiter) and had 4-inch guns as secondaies. The picture shows a hypothetical refit of the ship with AA guns added. But she's gonna be an odd duck to say the least with her 20-inch guns.
With IFHE those 20 inch (assuming the get 1/4 HE pen) will be able to HE citadel the RN and USN heavy cruisers, I can't see that ship ever using its AP at that point.

@@FederalDechart If you hit it, at the range this ship is going to have to play at I can see anything thats not a BB being able to evade and you only have six shots per salvo. Sure take expert loader and if you get a super cruiser or battleship giving you a broadside, you would want the AP but beyond that, if only the main belt on the super cruisers and BB's will not get penetrated by HE, why risk the overpens.

Tier VII looks like the Ersatz Yorck, which was planned to have 15-inch guns.
Tier VIII looks to be GK 4531, armed with 16.5 inch guns (42cm).
Tier IX looks to be GK4941, armed with the same.
Tier X looks to be GK5041, again, armed with 42cm guns.
You can find the plans for these on the Dreadnought Project, under "ship planes". What you are looking for is SM Studienentwurf. The ones that reference GK4541 (like GK4941) are saying that the armor profile is the same.

The Zieten looks like some mad german engineer put gun turrents too big onto a hull too small, it's almost comic.

@ No, it's a paper ship... and not just that, it's a _made up_ paper ship: you can tell by the proportions of the freeboard. The made-up ones are a big too tall.

I'm imagining a full line of Scharnhorst/Gneisenau/Siegfried kinda ships. I'm actually really looking forward to it. But they got to have good dispersion, unlike the regular BB line, otherwise the low calibre won't work.

I'm so pumped for this line and the Tier 10 Hood. Real steel ships plus some high tier madness, it should be good!
for folks who are not sure - Von Der Tann = 8 x 11-inch guns, Moltke - 10 x 11-inch guns, Derfflinger - 8 x 12-inch guns, Mackensen - 8 x 13.8-inch guns (its the same ship as the PEF), Prinz Heinrich 8 x 15-inch guns, all these ships were real and laid down or properly designed. The others however, not sure. Expect good protection with dispersed armour schemes for brawling, good if not great speed (German ships traded speed and firepower for heavier protection).
1. I wish these were in separate battle cruiser lines, with their own skipper skills.
2. It would be sweet if those anti-torpedo net booms on the older ones actually worked in game.
Weren't the booms for when they were stationary in Port?
@@crayonmuncher8532 yes they were meant when in Port, or anchored. Those nets were easy to snap if too much happened and driving around at the speed wasn't conducive.
@@crayonmuncher8532 - Yes, definitely. But the game doesn’t adhere to other historical conventions, so why not have them deployed any time the ship is stationary for an amount of time, like lurking behind an island?
Maybe how the Odins Main Battery performs, but for the whole line?
Tier 7 may be the planned Ersatz Yorck class, that were supposed to be built after the Mackensens. The layout and general form of the Tier 7 closely resembles the Wiki drawings. One other clue is that the Tier 7 has one funnel, which Wiki mentions that the Ersatz Yorck class was designed to eliminate the second funnel of the Mackensens and have all the uptakes ran into one funnel. Planned main armament was eight 15 inch guns.

@@mikereger1186 Not to forget often double or triple underlined or written in red pen when he really wanted to get a point across. :D I've got Fisher's books written in 1919, they make for wonderful reading. By todays standards he'd politely be called 'eccentric' but would probably be seen as a tad crazy, and very, VERY driven.
And don't forget the annecdote where the King said "Could you kindly stop shaking your fist in my face." to him because Fisher got all worked up whilst talking to him and forgot who he was talking to when making his point :D
@@ghostly4387 nope, I didn’t get that from the excellent Drach, although anybody reading much about Fisher would quickly come across his personality traits. He was something of a horror but he was undoubtedly the father of the Navy for the 20th Century.
I hope above all they give incomparable standard bb ap because if they give her the British semi armor piercing bb ap then the main issue with shikishima with alot of overpens will just disappear
Tier 7 German BC looks like it’s supposed to be the Ersatz Yorck Class. Ersatz Yorck in essentially an enlarged Mackensen with the 15 inch guns and turrets from Bayern. I believe the armor is the same and the speed slightly less. The other designs look like design studies I’ve seen before that mostly proposed 16 inch guns and were considered as “fast capital ships” in their designs. Mountbatten, the tier 8-10 maybe armed with 16.5 inch guns there were designs back in the late 1910s to early 20s that had battleships that had 8-16.5 inch guns there was one design with six twin 16.5 inch guns which Zieten takes after. Tier 7 Prinz Heinrich is probably the Ersatz Yorck class battlecruisers which would have succeeded the Mackensen class but with 8-15 inch guns. Mackensen was named after Field Marshal August von Mackensen. Von der Tann was Germany's first battlecruiser which sunk HMS Indefatigable at the Battle of Jutland. HMS Incomparable had belt protection of 11 inches and barbette protection of 14 inches. The ship was to be over 1000 ft (1010 ft 7 in.) according to Tony Gibbons', The Complete Encyclopedia of Battleships (great book buy it!!!). The design was cancelled due to the events of Jutland (three battlecruisers were sunk).
Von der Tann and Moltke had 280-mm/11-inch guns like Nassau, Derflingger had 305mm/12-inch guns like Kaiser, and Mackensen had 350mm/13.7inch guns. I don't know beyond that.

I hope they make Battlecruisers actually vulnerable to BBs and follow like Constellation with that thinner nose, if so that would make Incomparable fear in the face of "BUT YAMATO OVERMATCH" so something like 27mm or 30mm because she is a T10.
Ah HMS Incomparable aka what happens when you let Admiral Sir Jackie Fisher off his meds for too long.
I am worried. According to the stream yesterday they:
"Are quite stealthy"
"Don't have many guns (obviously)"
"Want to get CLOSER"
"If you want to get closer, they have torp [...] quite long ranged torps (So i guess maybe Spee torps or some of the DD torps)"
"Have a quite good secondary armament" (that was translated from what was ssaid on the german stream) and have Hydro.
the secondary on the Tier X looks like: 2 twin 15cm guns in Graf Zeppelin mounts per side, maybe 3, but it's hard to tell due to the angle of the picture. a bunch of 10.5 cm DP... I am NOT impressed about the amount of firepower. And that is WITHOUT taking the uselessness of 95% of the secondaries ingame into account, due to their abysmal accuracy. IF they'd give htem the Graf Zeppelin disperision, that'd be interesting..., but I highly doubt it. AND secondary builds are just too expensive anyway.
Also, the ships are WW1 designs up to Tier X, and 8 to10 probably use 42cm L45 guns... big, yes... but L45. the 42cm guns on the Frederick and Kurfürst are L48. the VII is an Ersatz-Yorck, which carreis the same guns as used on the Bayern.
And that's not even starting about the potential firinig angles of Main and Secondary guns. And with Short range gun range... so prepare to be farmed to death by flamethrowers with probably more range.
Btw. Tier VIII is Pronounced "Tseeten", "ie" is a drawn out "I", somewhat similar to "See" or "sea". And "Mackensen" as one word, not "Mac-Kensen" "Macke".
Something i love about this line is that tier 3-6 has WW1 aesthetics, unlike the current Kaisersmarine BBs which all got a fictional 1930s upgrade to their bow and superstructure.
I hope that Incomparable is going to get Shikishima gun sounds - it would make sense.
Ok we are getting a full German BC/BB mixed line before any of the RN BC's are added (Repulse is still in testing and I am not getting into the battle cruiser/ fast battleship debate about Hood) and Incomparable is going to be a premium, so what the hell is going to be the T10 on the RN BC/BB mixed line, N3 would be to slow for T10 and is effectively a slow Musushi but with an odd gun layout of two forward one mid, the G3 is effectively a T8 battleship anyway, just with less AA on its original design, a refit Admiral class wouldn't make sense since going 9x16'', 9x18'', 8x15'' as you go T8, T9, T10 wouldn't make sense.
Man those pesky German DD's are getting bigger and bigger. Now featuring a badly protected Citadel aswell
They added RN as 5th (after Soviets) so why would they do it historically or with any sense of relevance.

I’m VERY hyped for this (incomparable, IMO, can be left behind) (also in real life, the british Incomparable had an 11 inch armor belt so that is quite slim)
I wish HMS Invincible was added before SMS Von der Tann as Invincible was literally the first battlecruiser. Even if she was a premium like HMS Dreadnought, and they made HMS Indefatigable the low tier one like with HMS Bellerophon. Also this could be good for premiums as Indefatigable’s sister ships the HMAS Australia and HMS New Zealand could be in the common wealth line. But we are getting HMS Repulse meaning HMS Renown is around the corner and we are getting Incomparable so I can’t complain but how long until G3.
Also in Azur Lane most of the Ships are historical but when they do the wows crossover they often add wow exclusive ships like Azuma, Izumo, Odin, Neptune and so on and they have the wows names and their skills reference the wows depiction of the ships. We are getting Marco Polo, Hakuryu, Anchorage, Parseval and Ägir, but the interesting thing is KMS Prinz Heinrich was in Azur Lane first lol.
Well their armor scheme isn't exactly tanky as BB counterparst, most pretty similar to Mackensen (and PEF too), but as usual they're pretty HE resilience, am a bit concern about this whole short range brawls because tier 8 and 10 (according to paper plan) have tiny bit of citadel above waterline, less braindead play-style am all for, just hope they actually have good concealment since WG words is vague as hell.
Lol no, tier 8 to 10 have 420mm guns, the chonky size turrets and large bore barrel if anyone bother to look up closely.

what I personally cannot get is how poor the concealment would be on German battlecruisers, somewhat between German BB and cruisers or way above German BB(of the same level)? Because it would be hard to pull out the close range combat if anyone can see you from the orbit(you will be halfway dead by the time your secondary start firing or your torpedoes wil be able to hit)
WG is probably testing the British BCs concept with the Repulse, while The Germans already have quite a few examples or tests like Scharnhorst, Odin, and Prinz Eitel Friedrich, one of the Mackensen-class itself. for the first time after Pommern, i'm hyped for a new ship line. Hopefully WG don't just give these BCs shit armor and less than ideal accuracy while giving them mediocre secondaries as their gimmick...
but anyways, would Incomparable be replacing Thunderer for coal or will it be a Research Bureau ship? find out in the next episode of World of Warships Development Blog
German BCs were known for having tough armour but weren’t as heavily armed as their British counterparts... so armour-wise they ought to be ok.

I'm so hype for this. I've been waiting for these ships since I first found out that the game itself was going to exist. I will relearn how to play the game to play these things well if I have to. My guess right now is they'll have fairly decent armor. Historically they sacrificed gun caliber to get their speed rather than armor, unlike the British. I think, overall, they'll have a shorter range than their german BB counterparts, because some of those actually have really good range for their tier, like Konig and Bayern. 15 inch guns sounds reasonable for the high tier ships. Maaaybe even 16 inch guns for the T10. I don't know. It'll have to have really good gun handling to be competitive. Thunderer and Ohio have 26 second reloads to compensate their low number of barrels and they have 18 inch guns. I guess I won't speculate too much and just wait and see.

As a german, i dont want the battlecruisers, as theyll probably be completely useless against anything that isnt sailing broadside at 2km because if their accuracy and precision is like the german bbs even in such a situation youd only hit half your shells and only half of the hits actually (over)penetrate for 1000dmg at most per salvo

Tier VII = Erzatz Yorck with updates. Tier VIII = Vomit inducing fantasy of Graf Spee mated with Erzatz Yorck and Graf Zeppelin. Tier IX = Graf Zeppelin mated with L20 Alpha and updated. L20 Alpha mated with Graf Zeppelin and Scharnhorst.

Almost blasphemy that they're adding the German battlecruisers before the British ones. Almost. It is worth noting that the incomparable has the silver badge of a tech tree ship rather than the gold badge of a reward/premium ship, so they may very well be trying it out for proof-of-concept before they put in the British.
It’s the same badge as all T10 special ships like the thunderer, shikishima, etc. There are no T10 premiums. Incomparable will most likely be a steel, coal, or RB ship.

"Plans". We don't know where the plans for these ships came from. We totally didn't have an unpaid intern sketch an idea on a napkin and turn it into the dev department. Pssh we have too many actual ships we could add to do that.
Tier 9 and 10 are based on project l20e a wich ist a super battle cruiser armed with 4 x2 420s, but there are definitely not 4 quadruple torpedo launchers in that plans xD

Classic WG, the British invented battlecruisers and the Germans get a tech line first. Instead the British get a tier X preem that will take more grinding than a whole branch. Just like how Russia invented rocket boosters for aircraft right.

Low concealment for short range combat when everyone's spamming HE and destroyers blanket every piece of close range cover with more torpedoes than they could have possibly carried in reality. Why lean into a playstyle you've nerfed to the point people gave up on battleships entirely? They've really got to give battleships some tools to deal with that properly because right now it's not rock, scissors, paper. Battleships are put into matches to make sure the little parasites get enough xp.
Hands up anyone else who things that British SBC is going to be a steel ship? *raises hand* guess i need to start grinding steel again.

They’re gonna suck. If PEF is any indication or for that matter Agir then penetration will render this line all but useless.
In other news, Constellation is a great battle cruiser. Guns are Colorado so pen is fairly adequate even at bottom tier.
