The Buried Village was a place where my son and I used to visit often, Son was so interested on what happened there he kept wanting to return. That interest was the beginning of a science career for him and has a PhD in Biology, and now works for the science foundation, here in the USA for the federal government. So looking forward to seeing this again after many years. Kiwi from Virginia
He was very young, but it led to his working mind, asking questions. That is what science is asking questions and finding answers. He was also fascinated with the stars in space. All this at a very young age.
@@GrowingUpWithoutBorders yes, many times!! If you manage to make it here you won't be disappointed!! We will set you up with a complimentary lunch or dinner at the NZ pavilion which has the best restaurant here!!
Went there, probably 40 years ago. They had a paddock with deer you could feed by inserting a coin into a dispenser and then holding pellets in your hand. Only problem was the deer would bite your hand when you tried to feed them!
Hey guys love your adventures of rotorua, healthy, fun, informative, and a wealth of knowledge to be learnt and shared by all, mother natures fury at times can be cruel we just have to except it and realize that there are things out there bigger than us take care guys❤️👍😍
Thanks for the encouraging comment! This area has so much to offer and it's so diverse. You're right about things being bigger than us especially in this case.
Hi fams, it's the blue lake ( Tikitapu) you can swim in, not the Green lake ( Rotokakahi) it's sacred, the colour reminds me of the dark Greenstone, these lakes are so beautiful and side by side is amazing, from the air 🛩️ it's absolutely stunning 😍
@@GrowingUpWithoutBorders Hi 🙋🏽♀️, I so recommend, my husband and I did the scenic flight out to White Island,Whale Island, over the Green & Blue lakes then over to Tarawera, this was before covid hit in 2018, it was absolutely amazing 😍
Recorded history in New Zealand is condensed into just over 200 years, so our concept of old is a bit skewed. When your house was built is about when the Maori first arrived here..before that the birds ruled.

Make a video about Tāupo next on your New Zealand journey
We didn’t see as much as we would have liked to in Taupo. We’ll have to go back again.
Good morning from Brasil 🇧🇷

That’s hilarious. It is Jenny McNicol 😂😂
That is sooo NZ...only a couple of degrees of separation
Good morning
Good luck 🌹🎈💖
Thanks!

I know it’s amazing isn’t it. Very much like Canada too the history is so young. At least from what we were taught in school.
Whoa a exploded volcano 🌋
Yes…. More than 100 years ago though. This is a Maori village buried by it.
Yeah it was in 1886 and it was a massive one.

Not a good picture of the terraces its blue looking, it called the pink and white terraces, please show the proper picture.
No it's the blue lake we can swim in not the green lake.
