I knew chad was a genius when Snoop said he was the one that put that last keyboard part on the hook of Drop it like it's hot. The song wouldn't hit the same without it.
Virginia made the Futuristic sound and basically made Alternate Rap music. With the Clipse rapping hardcore over obtuse beats, Kelis making Alt-Pop, Even Timbaland, Missy, Lex Luger, DRAM, Teddy Riley. The sound is boundary pushing and weird sounds with Street subjects
If you're not a producer who grew up in the 90s and early 2000's you wont put respect on chads name. The thing i like about The neptunes is their versatility across ALL genres of music INCLUDING remixes. They were REAL remixers. they made a song so un-recognisable you had to hear the vocals to know who sang the original and made it sound better. Example, One of their best remixes SADE - by your side and Backstreet - The Call. Prince - The Greatest Romance ever sold. Even their more obscure Remixes ALL Saints - Black Coffee. and theyre still making beats for artist and still sound good. Even with their sound scaled down. That new joint they produced with SZA "Hit different" or Kendrick Lamars "Im Real" its still the neptunes sound.
This documentary is right on time, I've been revisiting the Neptunes music lately and I've come to the conclusion they were the real Avant-garde hip-hop collective of the 21st century. Over outkast , over kanye, over timbaland! The pop music landscape of 2021 bears the influence of Pharrell and Chad! Tyler the creator, the weekend, even Billie eilish wouldn't exist without The Neptunes/NERD, their music now sounds timeless and sounds almost like a hip-hop version of Brian Wilson/the beach boys sonic genius! Long live Star Trak true musical prophets🖖thanks for making this excellent documentary.

I love the neptunes so much. I'm a musician and audio engineer and they are one of my top 3 production influences all time. The Neptunes, Madlib and Lee 'Scratch' Perry. Great documentary, just what I was looking for!
Wait what?!?! They stopped because of the big EDM boom in the 2010s?!?! It kinda makes sense because a lot of music started to faster and faster every year.
Late 90s in Germany when I was almost done with high school. Hip-Hop complete took over in my life when it wasn’t that main stream over here. The internet started to grew popular. MTV and friends with the US were my biggest source for new music. I think I discovered The Neptunes on “Melvin Flynt da Hustler” from Noreaga. After that I also picked up “N.O.R.E.”. “Superthug” till this day is probably my favorite Neptunes production because it’s so uncompromising, energetic, straight forward, ignorant…
I was in high school (Kirkland, Washington) when the neptunes were hittn hard 01-03. I rem hearing all the big names dropping tracks and hearing how unique the beat was and needing to do some digging on who was producing it. The day the Clones album came out I bought the CD and brought it to my homies house party and it was dope. Honestly the beats were so wild for the time that I don’t think a lot of people were fukn with it. Like their palate wasn’t ready for something crazy like that. But yeah old neptunes beats were grimey and hit hard. Loved it.
Thank you for the collab on this Dre, they not ready!

One of my favorite producers.
Love them too death.
So glad my friend Ronnie put me on to them back in high school and I'm 35 now LoL

Star Trak started with Virgin Records America first, then went to Arista, Interscope and Universal.
You right there my guy! I just mentioned their last parent company for quickness, I cut some bits down for time, but I’ll be sure to mention in PT 2
You the 🐐 fam 👊🏾
great work fellas!! keep it up.
I remember when Slim Thug signed with Neptune’s it was a pretty big deal down here in Texas. It was right at the beginning of the 2005 Texas Takeover.
Loved it.
