This is a very detailed tutorial on something that can be very intimidating. Thanks for sharing this. Although I'm not in this level, I'm adding it to a playlist so I can refer back to it when I give it a try. Thanks!
This video could not have come at a better time! I just bought a pretty book at an estate sale and realized that the spine needs a little bit of reinforcement so I think I will try this book cloth instead of the burlap I had planned. Thanks!
Thank you so much! I have been wanting to try book cloth but was so unsure on it. I found some on amazon and they have some that looks like leather also. Thank you for the tip about glue with the book corners, I ordered some from the wish app. I can't wait to try them!
Great ideas. I love using muslin because it's just so retro and feels good in a book. I ordered that glue, they should send you a year's supply because you really promote it well =) I used Yes glue on my last hand-made journal and it was a little thick for the spine even after I scraped it. Thanks, Jessica. I would not have thought of using this glue I'll let you know how it works for me.
So... might be a dumb question, but... Are metal corner protectors really that protective, or might they damage the corners more by being slowly ripped off? I'm wondering for the case of a book that might frequently be taken on travels. It is a faux leather hardcover. We already had to use heavy duty Pelle Patch leather adhesive to repair one corner. (Best book paper we could find in a pinch.) But now that we have received the corners, we fear these might be more decorative than functional. I have memories of such corners falling off of an old agenda. On the other hand... I'm still considering that the corners might help keeping the corner repairs to hold shape. And they do look sturdy enough. So I'm much more concerned with their relation, once clamped, with the cardboard itself. Ah... and what adhesive do you use to keep these metal corners fixed to the book? Would it work on faux leather?
SUCH A WONDERFUL VIDEO, THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR SHARING WITH US. I AM GOING TO GO TO MY LOCAL SALVATION ARMY AND GET AN OLD READERS DIGEST BOOK AND TRY THIS. I WILL SEE IF I CAN ORDER THE BOOK CLOTH ON AMAZON. AGAIN, THANK YOU
