I bought the kC app last month thanks to you. I even replaced my 8 year old IPad last week (gave it to my mum who wanted mine for years) and now I am able to use all the features of the yearly subscription. I don’t think I would have bought it without your amazing tutorials - you truly have a gift for teaching. I always go back to your videos for reference. Thank you so much, Staci! 💚
Hi Staci, Thanks so much for this series of tutorials. Knit companion is really a game changer, as you said. These repeat counters are just what I’ve been waiting for! I knew it must be possible but just couldn’t figure out how to do it on my own. Be safe and well and happy knitting.
These tutorials are awesome, I no longer have to print multiples of my pattern. I can write all over, Mark my changes and know exactly wear I am at!! I couldn’t figure this out before. Now it’s my best friend!!
Thank you for breaking this down. I love the Knit Companion and really appreciate all that can be done with this app. Were it not for you, I'm not sure I'd be able to utilize all these robust features. Thanks again.
Thank you for recommending this app. It's the greatest! I am currently working on a pattern that goes "Rows 1, 3, 5, 7 - do this" then "Rows 2, 4, 6, 8 - do this". I was trying so hard to figure out how to use the smart counter and with some playing around, I figured out how to create templates and merge them into one. So I copied out the individual lines and then merged them into 8 rows - and voila! - I can use the smart counters. I am so pleased with this software. Makes it SO much easier to figure out where I am while knitting.
Oh my goodness. Thank you for the link to create 2 thrive. I just found the Joji Locatelli sweater I am going to do next and purchased the upgrade and it was a snap. Now everything is set up for me when I am ready to start. I am so excited. You are the best!!!!
Hi. Thanks for this video. I’ve been using Knit Companion for several years now and I love it! However, I find the new one much more complicated than the old one, so I keep using the legacy version. I know I need to transition over but it’s hard when the old version is so easy.
Thank you for these very helpful videos but I’m wondering if it’s possible for you to add video 1 2 3 etc so as we know which order to watch them. Thank you.
Great idea - I've numbered the videos so they can be watched in order. Additionally, the kC playlist has them in order. ruclips.net/p/PLUv37jBrlCtK_W65fJKr3PNkLcUv-SiLs
Hi Staci could you do a video on how to add patterns whether crochet or knit to knitCompanion thank you in advance! I love your videos keep up the awesome work!
Great video! So helpful. I still can’t figure out how to use smart counters or KC to have a particular row repeat every other (ws) row in one step counters other than using a template to copy paste after each row. (Very tedious and KC gets noticeably slower and occasionally crashes as many pieces are added) Help please!
I finally know what is causing my problem with using smart counter repeat in a pattern where you want the repeats to continue until you have reached a certain length, and not for a given number of times. I couldn’t make it a 0 as I can do for piece repeats. What can I do?
I love your videos! I can’t imagine how I would have learned to use KC without your help and your calm voice! I am trying to figure out whether I can set up KC (IOS) to count me thru the following complex/nested repeating rows: Rows 1-4: repeat rows 1-4 [from an earlier section] Rows 5-6: repeat rows 3-4 [same] Repeat these 6 rows 3 more times. I am at a loss about how to get KC to count me thru this row by row other than retyping the 6 rows? Any suggestions?
I have been trying and trying to set up the smart counter! I did manage to set up the easy one (repeat 1-4 and 6-10 rows x number of times. Now I need to repeat rows 1 to 12 one more time; how do I do this?
Stacy are there still features that are in IOS that aren't in android? My son looking to purchase Christmas gift and I need to tell him what device to purchase. Thanks
How do you handle a one touch counter for a text piece that has instructions like “for row 2 and every even row, pearl.” Then the rest of the pattern only has the odd rows written out. I was hoping you could do a magic counter but I cannot figure out how to handle the even rows. Thank you.
Ohhhh,,I HAVE to have this !!🤗Unfortunately all my devices(in other words,my phone lol!) are capped out of their storage data lol......Time to get a bigger SIM card😂🤣😂
Thank you so much for this video. I recently discovered your Chanel and it’s been a game changer. I have mastered so many new tricks in a ridiculously short period. Thank you! I am currently looking for another feature in the smart counters and I cannot seem to find it. I have quite a few patterns that are written in a chart. So when I select chart piece the boxes do not fit and in text piece the direction is off. Is there an option the change the direction counting in? Thank you so much 😊
Question. Bought a pattern from expression fiber arts from their site. Want to add to my raverly library. so that I can use with my knit companion. How can it be transferred without me purchasing the pattern again on ravelry. Thank you.
You can add patterns to your Ravelry library (or they are automatically added) when you make your purchase through Ravelry, or through a website that uses the Ravelry shopping cart. Many designers, like me, use the Ravelry shopping cart on our websites. If you are unsure, you can check for patterns you've purchased through the Ravelry shopping cart that are not in your library by using the Purchase Finder: ravelry.com/purchasefinder Now, all of that said, patterns don't have to be in your Ravelry library for you to be able to open them in knitCompanion! As long as it is a PDF file, you can upload it to kC. (Please see reply from kC with the link to instructions for this.)
I have a problem understanding how I can set up different pattern repeats in a long complex chart which I have setup for an aran sweater. I understand how to do row repeats but I don’t know the chart stitch numbers in my joined complex chart. Hopefully it is clear what I am trying to do. 17:21

You made everything so easy to understand. Thank you. 👍🏻🧶😊
I had to watch it twice--the first time I was just being entertained by your dog in the backyard... Hahaha! Happy Thanksgiving, let us all be well!
Happy Thanksgiving and thank you for this presentation.

Somehow I missed this feature...I used to manually recreate the patterns in Google docs and then upload to KC. I have to use smart counters instead!
Thanks for the great info and help with the app. Hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving!!!
Nice! Learning to do some things on my android tablet. Thank you.

Thanks so much for your videos. I have a question on smart counters. Is there a way to setup a repeat within a repeat?

Stacy are there still features that are in IOS that aren't in android? My son looking to purchase Christmas gift and I need to tell him what device to purchase. Thanks
Yes, the features I demonstrate in this video are currently only available in iOS.

That's a question for knitCompanion directly, I'm sorry, I don't have an answer for you.
Thank you sooo much 💖

You have to have the Setup + Essentials tier of the app to get this to work, I explain it in this video: ruclips.net/video/SSs0OH7Whhk/видео.html
@@verypinkknits Thank you for the quick reply. Although I cannot seem to find it in the video. I have wriggled a solution now 😊

Add any pattern to your kC: www.knitcompanion.com/ufaqs/add-pdf/

I'm sorry, but I think there is a squirrel tormenting your dog in the backyard. They are completely focused, unlike me. lol
LOL...I leave the backdoor open when I'm shooting video so the dogs can run in and out. But I have no idea what they're doing behind me.
