- The S6 is a few changes from Audi for 2023. On the outside you will see a new grill. front fascia and wheels. On the inside you will be greeted by a full leather interior, carbon fiber trim and 3 digital displays. Under the hood is a twin-turbocharge & supercharged V6 that produces 444HP. Is the 2023 Audi S6 a BETTER new performance sedan than a BMW M5?

I’m glad you pointed out that they didn’t go with a black wheel like everyone else. I personally think black wheels often look cheap. I much prefer silver/gun metal grey.
Same. Black wheels look like they're painted to cover up flaws. I thought Dodge always hurt the Challenger and Charger lines by not offering chrome wheels.

Yes, I am so sick of looking at all-black wheels on a "luxury" car. Or any car for that matter. You're right, they just look cheap. These wheels look fantastic.
@@weirdshibainu They always did offer optional chrome or painted wheels on Charger and Challenger. They just weren't that common. Most people buy whatever is on the lot.

Audi is the only brand that can pull off a large grille and make it look sleek, sporty, and aggressive

Some Lexus vehicles have a nice grill and others look ridiculous. But all Audi’s look amazing with the large grills imo
I've driven a few Audi sedans and wagons (Allroad 4.2L V8) and although they aren't the "fastest" or the "best handling" they are plenty good enough for me. The interiors are terrific and the exterior styling is classy. Perhaps the best bang-for-the-buck in the luxury segment. (Sorry Genesis) Thanks for taking one for the team, Joe.

This generation A6/S6 is great. The interior in particular is a step above BMW’s 5 series. Very nice car overall 👌
Good review Joe. This probably compares more to the BMW M550 than the M5 I would think. Nicer looking inside and out than the BMW in my opinion.

It’s not even close. I have an M550, its the only one with a v8 and 500+ hp in its class. Not comparable

im concerned about body roll, i am in a redsport and there is literally no body roll in custom or sport plus. what u rate body roll on s6 out of 0 to 10? i drove rs5 and it seemed ok seemed very similar to g70/q50/rs3 etc@@RaitisRides

It is a speedy car, I wanted a blackwing but they wanted 30k over sticker so I got the audi, I'm glad. This is much more of a driving car, way better interior.

Great review Joe. The S6 is a sleeper daily driver and of course it is nice on the road. I drove this before picking up the M550Ix last year and really liked it but the M550 is bit more a sleeper with it’s power and handling.
The M550i is about the same price, but has like 100 more hp. So, I think you chose well.
I tried getting one 3 years ago, but they were hard to find. I ended up with a 540i.
I do think the M550i is a much better comparison. The "M-light" versions with the S series, and the M with RS.
@@wamhas9348 Performance-wise, the S6 might be closer to the 540i. Just going off of 0-60 times, the S6 is 4.4, the 540 is 4.6, and the 550 is 3.6.
@sash 0210 more like 60hp more, not 100. I have a 2022 S6 and it's plenty of hp for a daily driver. The Audi has a much better interior than BMW. IMO. I like that you dont see very many S6 on the road.
@@Raven77844 I thought it was 543, but it’s actually 523. So, 79 more hp for the BMW.
Great car and review!!! The S6, and similar vehicles in the Audi line, are a bit "long in the tooth" for a full redesign. Also, a few features missing in this luxury performance vehicle, especially at over 90k. This, and the A6, can be a better value in the 2-3 year old range. I would still drive this any day though, as any vehicle has some perspective dings.
it still has a few years left in it. Especially since the current A4, A5, Q5 etc are older than the A6/S6
Rs6 is compatible to the M5. S6 direct competition is M550i

The performance difference between the A6 3.0T and S6 is actually much smaller than you would think. The DCT gives the A6 the quicker off the line response, the way it is programmed, rather than the ZF8. Audi cars with the ZF8 have a very noticeable delay off the line. You can save yourself 20K, and get options such as ventilated seats, and a quieter ride. Both are excellent cars though.

other VW group cars have been shipping without ventilated seats due to component shortages at the factory, I wonder if that's what's up with this car?
@@rudolfschenker i was thinking the same about the chip shortage because i was about to brag about my 2016 hyundai sonata hybrid limited having ventilation seats.
A used 2021 A6 I tested has vented front seats. Maybe 2022 and 2023 models are the ones suffering from chip shortage

Great review, Joe & Lori. I like the color, the blacked-out roof, and the styling of the vehicle. It looks like the way Audi should exterior-wise. I don't like all the gloss-black interior trim pieces. It cheapens the interior and would be hard to upkeep with all the fingerprints and Twinkie goo. Audi's have been known to have premium interiors and this one falls short in my opinion. Just like you, Joe, I would prefer physical buttons and no ventilated seats at that price is a major zonk!
Yeah, the sport seats don't have ventilation capabilities for some dumb reason. You have to get the standard luxury seats to get it, but it is available.
These are beautiful cars in a more subtle way BMW. However, Beemers have more visual pop. Both BMW and Audi are great "Lease Bait". Don't keep either past Warranty. IMHO.
Integrated infotainment system is a huge plus. That color is absolutely incredible sharp looking car. After I retire my S4 I might step up to an S6
how long u got left on s4? im tossing up betweeen g70/g80 /s5 or s6. maybe a s8 but abit to pricey unless find a older model but unfortunately hard get warranty at that age

This is a very beautiful car inside out...is it better than M5 no,but its a better looking package but the M5 driving dynamics and engine takes the win...
M5 is more expansive, a lot faster and overall a better car
S6 is like a regular 5-series

Joe, Audi makes awesome looking cars. I think this could compare with a m550i, but I think the m550 is faster because it has a v8 for around the same pricing.
M550i is 20k more expensive but similar acceleration. M550i is not faster than 540i at all. 540i can be 5k cheaper than s6 tho.

sorry, but this needs to have COOLED SEATS and upper 400s HP to make it justified for the price point, and that 0-60 time needs to be mid to low 3s...always a huge Audi fan, they were first to redesign the interior..well done Joe, On Throttle Forever!!! ps....wouldn't have pegged you as a Diplo fan Joe!

Im glad they kept the tiptronic shifter that actual can be used to shift. Alot of cars phasing this out i hope audi keeps it. Hate how some have completely removed it and there is nothing at all in centre. erghh

I am German American and I come from an engineering background this is going to be my next car right now now I see a 2021 Audi S6 for $50,000 with only 25,000 miles on. I already have $25,000 and if sell my car, that is another $10,000. I am 15,000 away from getting a nice 2021 silver S6 you’re getting close to 450 hp but you’re not getting killed on the gas you’re getting 19 to 26 MPG or 22.5 combined is not horrible for a performance sports car

I’d definitely buy a BMW over an Audi. This car is very nice, but it reminds me of a Passat in the materials and look of the dash. Nets on the seat backs? Seriously?
love how Audi can do a massive grill and yet it looks beautiful, clean beautiful lines. All the angles and creases match. Unlike Bmw which does the complete opposite, just design one monstrosity after another

Dated? Nah. It still has a few years left in it. The same could be said about the current CT5, ES350 etc.

Honestly, I think an Audi RS6 Avant(sad that there isn't a sedan version) would be a MUCH better competitor to the M5 🤔🤷♂. This S6 would better compete against the BMW 530i or something.

Very nice. This would mandate a euro style plate for the front. The design incorporates the adaptation of a full size eruo plate where a US plate would look odd. Or risk it and go no plate
I got 2006 audi a6 that I bought as a daily from Philly and I live in Jersey they require a front plate but my car looks so much better without one

I have a '20 M5 competition. To answer the question, I highly doubt it. The M5 is a complete beast. The car just pulls so hard, no matter the speed, gear, rpm doesn't matter.
Nice review back to the higher end cars. Outstanding understated beautiful exterior. I actually like the previous interior design for functionality. I think they could have blended the dual screens with a redesign of their knob-switch row in between. I have a 2018 and friend has 2022 with the dual screens. A blend of the two would have been better functionally imho. Yes the wheels get two thumbs up.

This S6 looks great outside and insde, drives really good but I would save some more and go for the S7.
The S7 is nice, but it’s the same car and your paying 10k more just for a hatchback.
@@Troy-fv9uq Not just a hatchback, but the coke bottle curves, the auto deploying spoiler, plus a few other features the A6/A7 doesn't have; and, most importantly, overall one of the sexiest looking cars out there, the price premium is more than worth it.
what about the brakes? does it grunts when you come to a stop or the brake pedal noise if you release it fast????
Back in transporter days ..brand were so unique ...Audi has awesome manual v6 and V8 diesels ...
Full crappy electronics ... My dad has a user 2013 a6 3.0 TDI ...pretty vannila from factory ..but with a performance upgrade, new set of tyres, altered BCM ...the car is good for 350 ish HP and a whopping 680 NM torque ... 0-100 is around 4.5 ish ..but that's ok ....
Its much relevant then many downsized v6s these days ..😊
This is one nice Audi. But I still prefer the MTM RS4 (B7) Clubsport, without the hood scoop, of course.

My 17 c7.5 I recently got was 71k new msrp. How do they justify 20k more and these new ones are all v6 TT lol

Not an issue at all. Our 2013 A8L has not had any problems or issues since new. And even when in warranty, only a sun visor light switch replaced.

Silver wheels look off on that color paint with the black trim. A dark gray or bronze would be perfect.

Audi build quality has always been superior to BMW in my eyes. I owned 2 RS3's an RS5, and an S4, all top notch compared to my X3MC and M5. 600 HP in an M5 is nice and lightning quick, but I missed the functionality of Audi more than the HP gains. Joe, keep up the good work my man. Your reviews are always so much fun to watch!
The previous M5 which was rear wheel drive wasn’t as practical. They prob came on summer performance tires most owners leave those on and they are bad in winter. And in even a dusting of snow they are un-drivable. Years ago I had to pick my friend up after a light dusting of snow rendered his M5 useless. But the new ones with X-Drive take the cake

Style wise, that is a very nice looking car, unfortunately after warranty runs out, you will be putting a lot of money on repairs if you do not take very good care of it.
Not at all. Our 11 year old Audi A8L has had no issues or repair costs since warranty expired and even under warranty, only a light switch replacement on the sun visor.
I believe the S6/S7 both have the 2.9L Twin Turbo V6 engine, as opposed to the 3.0L Single Turbo V6 engine that's in the S4/S5.
Comes German cars always good and better quality .

This is a luxury sedan first with an adequate amount of sportiness when you want it. I hate that they took the V8 away from this generation S6 but the 3.0TT is a better engine for what this car really is - a comfy luxury sedan with a lot of power, not on the same level as an M5.
Soooo we not gonna talk about that center console offering not a tad bit of space ...yuck
