I have the LEM trigger on my HK45C and by God it's one of the best triggers I've ever experienced.

I am a former military vet as well, having been trained in 1911's and Berettas. I have since enjoyed both CZ and SIG DA/SA pistols more than the other striker variants. I do like the lighter trigger pull weights of my modified Glocks. But since the triggers are so light (3 to 4 pounds), I'm hesitant to leave a round in the chamber when carrying. I feel safer with a safety or even a heavier DA (less than 8 pounds) in my CZ customs or SIGs with a round in the chamber. If I'm not using my safeties, I carefully lower the hammer by hand and just expect the DA first shot. On my SIGs with decockers, I just use those. Having different pulls is my tradeoff, but I see it as a time issue. If I need to take the shot, I would just deal with the heavier DA. If I had time, I would just thumb the hammer back. I would like to get to a point where I can just draw and be prepared to shoot without the need to remember if I have a safety on or not.
I was surfing the web this morning trying to understand if an LEM would help me or complicate me since most of my firearms are DA/SA, with some striker-fired Glocks and CZs. I came across your video here: www.hkpro.com/threads/langdon-tactical-hk-p30-lem-series-pistol-first-impression-thoughts-and-questions.561006/
This is the best explanation I have seen, and I've been searching the web for months. GREAT JOB!
I'm subscribing now based on this video alone, in the hopes that I learn something else from you. I also don't want to lose track of your excellent explanation.

Very well done and informative video. It is so nice to not hear the term, "this little thing" or other variants when so-called experts try to explain something they don't truly understand. It is obvious that you know your business inside and out and can communicate it succinctly. I'm in Greenville and will be having you install the "light" parts on my P2000 LEM as soon as possible.

Converted my USP9 to LEM but kept the V1 DA/SA hammer spring and installed the heavy squared off trigger return spring that came with the conversion kit back in 2014 or so and I loved it.
Just recently got a trigger blade with the overtravel stop and the nickel sear spring and installed them and it is _really_ nice now, the stop physically limiting the trigger overtravel makes the overall pull feel lighter but I still have a positive feeling reset because of the heavy return spring.
Certainly not something H&K would advise doing I’m sure, but I like it a lot.

This trigger design is highly underrated and I wish more manufacturers would innovate with hammer designs like this instead of all just making Glock striker clones. Unfortunately, I think it sells itself very poorly since in a gun shop it functions like any other DAO unless you know how it works and cycle the slide. The know-it-all employees also just treat it like an outdated DAO relic not even worth looking at.

    Question for you.
First, I got a lot out of this video, thank you.
I'm convinced of how good the LEM trigger is. I'm considering getting a H&K USP, and I'd either get it with LEM, or convert it. But because I'm a 1911 guy, and have trained for years to use that thumb safety. Is it possible to have a USP with LEM, and a thumb safety? If so, what's involved in doing so? Thanks again for the great video!

    • @teufelshundtactical
      @teufelshundtactical  4 года назад +5

John Kelley Brown It can be done, but completely defeats the point of LEM. The best advice is just learn to let go of that perceived need. It’s not as hard as you think and I had to do it too.

  • @LDub_FlyingFish

I'm on the fence between LEM and DA/SA. Looking at the P30. Still haven't completely decided, but this video is extremely helpful. I carry AIWB and I'm just finding myself extremely uncomfortable holstering striker pistols with one in the chamber. That's why I'm switching to a hammer fired pistol. I was originally all in on DA/SA, but the LEM is starting to creep into the discussion.

I had a chance to mess around with the HK before I left INS. After shooting the Beretta 96 for years, with its ridiculously long double action only trigger, I had no idea what trigger reset was and shot the HK poorly. As a private citizen now I have a stack of HK handguns, some with LEMs that you installed. Is there anyway to get the pull below 5 pounds? Thanks for doing these videos.

    • @teufelshundtactical

I don’t follow social media influencers who do “torture tests” as a way to sensationalize their audience. But as far as whether LEM vs DA/SA has proven to be any less reliable through actual use by commercial or LE customers, I have not seen any issue. In fact the only part that I have seen break more than once in all my years of working on H&Ks is the sear spring and that is the same part on the USP through P30 series. These are incredibly well built and reliable pistols regardless of the variant you get.
