- In this video, we take a quick look at the H&K P9S and some of its variants. Tune in to find out why this unique pistol was the first H&K handgun that Germany GSG9 adopted and why it is so prized by H&K collectors today.
Huge thanks to H&K for allowing me to film this video in their Gray Room in Columbus, GA. And if you would like to know more about the P9 series, linked below is my very thorough review of the pistols, going over just about everything you could ever want to know:

2 videos in one week? COME ON! love the Grey Room series!
The featured pistol in the Charles Bronson film “St.Ives” co-starring the great John Houseman. When I first watched it I knew I had to have such a cool looking pistol.
I have a P9S new since '83 for $200.. At that time I ordered a closeout VP70. H & K depleted their VP's so they gave me a P9s. This is such a sweet , smooth, very accurate auto.
Will pass down to family. Absolutely a sweet pistol. In the past I never realized how lucky I was to get it. Maybe 6k rounds thru it, digests anything. Just replaced the buffer once.
Used to shoot much but not much last few years. It is like new w pristine box.
My favorite classic 9mm pistol! I wish they still made them or made a modern version. Seems like they'd be ideal suppressor hosts with the fixed barrel and roller delayed blowback design.
Thanks for the awesome work you did on mine and the other legacy pistols you worked on! Shoots like a dream!
Another great H&K history video James. Two of my regrets, selling my P7 and realizing the opportunity and failing to buy a P9S and HK4 from a seller because the HK4 was in .32! Doh! Live and learn! Thanks for the series.
It would be amazing if H&K were to ever bring this back, at least the combat variant. I'd definitely buy one.
Not going to happen, but they can always be found on GunBroker.
Still looking for some of these!
Before watching James’ P9S video:
“I don’t need a P9S.”
After watching James’ P9S video:
“I want a P9S.”
My work here is done.
I wished I could have afforded the new P9 S but at that time the VP70Z was a lot less money AND it was the first pistol with 18 round magazines. It was my poor man's H&K. Still have my VP70Z. There was a great P9 Sport with muzzle weight for target balance. Thank you for showing those variants. In my opinion the P7 cocker takes a big back seat to the P9 S.
Beautiful H&Ks
Thanks James.
Great presentation of a great firearm.
Another amazing video. I have multiple P9s and many serviced by James. One of my favorite handguns!
🇺🇸
Boy, my white NewBalances were smokin' there for a second.
I have very well used Malaysian contract P9S--nevertheless, it's still one of my most accurate, most intuitive shooters. Visceral and engaging, yet uniquely soft and smooth. James, you actually worked on my pistol, according to the previous owner. Runs perfectly! Thank you!
I watched your video earlier today on the USP. Good stuff.
@@kyliejohn3813 Oh, thanks! I appreciate it. I’ve got one in the P9S, too-“9mm Nirvana” 😁
The P9S is one of my favorite handguns. Its not ideal today - I had an RSO crap his pants when I showed him its release to DA.
Mine is well worn but has new buffer and it shoots great.
I'm a lefty, but interesting nonetheless - Thank you James! 🌟🌙
Thanks for spoiling us with these videos!
Here’s my Reminder to keep you honest on the mark 23 video. 😃
..A SERIOUS classic..before its time..had a horrible trigger..came out at a time when 9mm was rare in the US..I bought an S&W Model 39 home in 1974 and finding 9mm was problematic..
I was wondering about the trigger and reset, but he really doesn't dry fire, and show us at least the reset. Why do you feel the trigger is horrible?
this pistol looks astonishingly like a Hi-Point.....
Tell HK to do A "Slimmed" version as well as A "slimmed longslide" threaded version, If you could bring this gun back with A few modern creature comforts under $1K I have 0% doubt HK would sell piles of them.
Us "Hunter" fans, who don't know, was it a comp or barrel weight?
It was a match weight.
I have a question about a USP pistol for you James, do you have an email contact?
You can reach me via the “contact us” page of the website
We found the real orange man.
New balance shoe squeak 😆
I have a P9s with a threaded barrel. What is the typical thread pitch. Is it the same thread pitch as the P7 threaded barrels. Thank you
The P9S-N had the same pitch as the MP5-N, so they could use the same suppressor. 1/2x32
Please correct me if I’m wrong. I probably am lol because you didn’t mention it. Several years ago I came across one of these in a local gun shop. I could of sworn it came with more than one barrel. Otherwords it was multi caliber. I almost bought it but decided not too. Pretty sure it was in 45acp but with another barrel. Idk. Correct me please, sir.
The Sport Group 3 was offered with the standard Combat slide assembly and grip and well as the full competition set up. That way, you could convert the weapon back and forth for carry or competition use. You could buy barrels as accessory items for a short period as well. A .22 conversion kit was a limited option too.

Ok. I am going to say it was in 45acp with a .22 conversion kit. Maybe, it was many years ago. Thanks for another great video.
