What’s really amazing is that Lea Salonga in her 40s, with a much bigger voice and lower placement, can still fully bring it on with a Disney-esque sound and high-quality vocals when many singers have lost it (like the Ariel singer in The Little Mermaid and Belle in Beauty & The Beast).
Lea is 53 now. Best as ever❤
She's the singing voice of Mulan too!!
Not to mention it's Alan Menken, the composer, playing the piano.
Her name is pronounced LAY-UH, not LEE-UH. I do believe the original song was recorded in 1992. Brad Kane is two and a half years younger than Lea, so I think he was 18 and she was 20 or 21.
They looked like they were in their mid-teens when they originally recorded the song.

Really? They didn't rehearse before doing this live? I'm even more impressed! Especially the way Audrey described how they said Lea changed her vocals slightly to match Brad's better during the harmony! Audrey's probably right, that she can just calculate all that in her head instantly as she goes by now. I mean, I can't sing a note, so even bad singing impresses me, but Lea is just mind-blowingly good.

Actually there's another version of this video where the first part was Lea & Brad's first ever recording session for this song since i think they were both choosen already (skipped the audition) & just straight to recording. While the second part was this performance. U should've reacted to that version but anyways i enjoyed ur reaction. ;-)

Brad, I think had some health complications resulting in his limitations to this version of this song. Sad, but am so glad to hear the originals.
🤔 I figured because he's older, he probably can't hit those higher notes he used to sing. Maybe he tried but found it better if he lowered his voice. Honestly, no fault of his and I'm ok with him singing as is.

He smoked a pack a day for like 20+ years, he talked about it on a podcast he could not sing they spoke to him about it like 2 weeks before the show
so in 2 weeks has to do a reunion with Lea that had been winning Broadway awards and never stopped singing

You should check our the 1993 OSCAR AWARDS Aladdin Presentation with Me and Brad...it won them the best song for that year1993 ( 65th Academy Awards) check it out...
I personally don't love the Oscars performance. Not a fan of the musical arrangement. And it had to be pre-recorded for the broadcast, so it isn't live.

I've watched each and everyone of the reactors in RUclips. Audrey, you're the best! My attention was totally lost from Lea Salons. I mean Lea is Lea! She's perfect in every details when she sings. But when Audrey started talking ,she stole the limelight. I totally forgot Lea. Audrey was simply excellent! She knows everything she was talking about. After watching, I did my research about Audrey. No wonder why, she's a great artist too. Sam, I'm looking forward your next video of course with Audrey!!!
