The main aim of the platform is to precipitate debate on why teeth are crooked. Most people are not aware that (in most cases) the dental profession has little or no idea why the teeth are crooked, or for that matter why children need major surgery. Clearly there are genetic issues, however the science is clear, the weight of quality research papers, in respected peer reviewed journals, show that our modern lifestyle is a more important factor and most importantly we can do something about this.
This is especially important as sleep apnoea, TMD, forward head posture and a most otolaryngology problems are implicated as other symptoms of the same underlying problem.

    3. Chew Gum (Single Most Important Factor)
    4. Lip Tape at Night (to encourage breathing through your nose)

I think that not using pacifiers for your babies should be added to this list. I keep a little boy who has developed an open bite and open mouth posture at 2 1/2 because of pacifier use and I can't convince the parents of how bad this is for him. I stay onto him constantly to close his mouth and lips but it's already a habit and even with his mouth closed his lips don't naturally meet because of his open bite. I think pacifiers must also encourage improper tongue posture by getting in the way of where the tongue would naturally rest.

I’m a speech language pathologist and help children with feeding therapy as well. I completely agree and we usually advise parents who already have their children using a bottle and pacifier to get rid of them by 1.5 years old latest. The child’s mouth changes drastically after this age and the pacifier and bottle inhibit natural development of the adult mouth shape.

Sucking in general is very bad. Breastfeeding is not actually sucking but a complex mechanical movement that supports jaw development. Same goes for spoon feeding a baby. The circle of puree around the baby's mouth when spoon-fed comes from the baby using the same mechanics as when sucking. Finger food is great not only for preventing problems with the development of the jaw but also for many other reasons.

My family members all had nice straight teeth. But I was the only one NOT BREASTFEED ( my Mom had postpartum depression really bad and was cold and not nurturing towards me. And I think this is probably why I had my plug for 2 years.). So I was the only one in the family with a high narrow palate and crooked teeth.

I will share your knowledge everywhere, thank you dr mew. here in france there is literally no one who does orthotropics sadly. Across the different dentists I had, only one reacted positively when i told him i was using an appliance to expand my palate and get more room for my teeths especially my wisdom teeths. All of the others had a certain arrogant attitude and didn't seem to care whatsoever.
Thankfully i didn't had any extractions, but I almost did after following an orthodontic treatment where at the end he told me i needed to remove all of my wisdom teeths. I will remember this day forever, i was in the pre operative room, waiting, a women than came into the room to tell me that it was my turn. And in that exact moment I had the most pure and sincere intuition I ever had in my life, and it was that I needed to get out as soon as possible of this place and decline the procedure. And that is exactly what I did. I don't know if you believe in intuition but it was so right and pure for me that I couldn''t ignore it. So my message is to always listen to one's self. Oh and i was only 16 when he wanted to extract my wisdom teeths.
I never came back to see this orthodontist, ripped out my bottom permanent retainer, started mewing and expanding my palate while adopting a good posture. Screw these people
Thank you to you and your father, you will be remembered and the good you did will pay off one day. Much love to you

It's not easy find a modern-day medical pioneer whose ideas seem this intuitive. I feel the Mew's approach to health should be applied to other branches of medicine as well as expanded upon. It reminds me of professor Lustigs' arguments about the detrimental effects of fructose on the human body. Only time will tell but until then - there's certainly no harm in standing up straight and chewing with your mouth closed.

    • @andarvidavohits4962
      @andarvidavohits4962 Год назад +7

Also, I was thought to chew with my mouth closed, not keep my mouth open, stand up straight etc. while growing up. It was considered only decent and polite, we didn't know anything about Mew(ing). It could be coincidental but all my teeth are straight, I've always been able to breathe with ease and I grew all four wisdom teeth. Don't take this as medical advice but it is what it is.

My eldest was given a set of braces. My family heritage has never needed braces, nor his fathers. I said no but he wanted it. My worry was all the metal in his mouth as conductivity especially wifi mobile phones and laptops etc. I mention this as correlation between underwired bras containing metal and it being conductive and causing breast cancer.
My younger daughter now 11 has already been told she needs a brace asap. It seems like the dental business is down for handing out braces nowadays left right and centre.
I stand with you and have just come across your channel yesterday...why all this long I do not know...maybe you tube algorithm has changed and allowing truth warriors like yourself to be allowed to be seen!!!

I sucked my thumb from when i was born to 18 yrs old unfortunately. The orthodontist told my parents that i would have to have my jaw dislocated and reset along with braces to correct my bite. I Started hard mewing February 2023. Now its October 2023. The first thing i noticed was a little pain around the front of my teeth because i guess my lips was putting my teeth back into place. Then the facial bone right under my nose (maxilla) was very tender to the touch from my tongue being on the roof of my mouth as-well as the posterior third.
I found a few of my upper incisors being tender and over a few months, moving and looking much better than before. I no longer get slight pains in the wisdom tooth area since starting. My lips close by themselves now and i don’t need to force them together like before. My eye bags aren’t as noticeable as before but its still going to take time to get more results. I no longer snore like before since beginning. I get enough air through my nose and no longer have fuzziness when trying to remember things as before.
Listen, i know you’ll see a bunch of videos saying you can get a super jawn line in a month or so and i could be true for some people but don’t expect it to be right away. This stuff takes time. Im 27 as of writing this. Also, yes you can see results but not overnight. I forced myself to change because thats what i wanted for my life. If you want it bad enough you will go the distance. Mewing is hard people just make small things like this hard for themselves.

When you swallow your airways naturally close. You might be overdoing it. You might be confusing the epiglottis with the back of your tongue.

I would say. Put the front of your tongue up, and just keep that up. Hopefully if you're young enough you'll soon achieve more forward growth and then you might find it easier to lave your tongue in a comfortable position. If you're you're very young, hopefully this works too, if not, I'm sorry but I have no idea. But definitely keep your tongue up even if it's just the front 2/3

I don't know whether people have come up with this experience. I have slight midline discrepancy and a small deepbite. I've been doing mewing occasionally for years. When ever I push my tongue against the palatte and spread the chewing gum for 10 minutes and put my mouth idle and when I try to chew something after that, I'm getting clicks and pops from my jaw.
