You were spot on about the way cars today are being painted. Pretty soon it will get so bad that once your car is dirty you will have to scrap it and buy a new one. -) cars that cost a small fortune are not immune to this either. You would think if you spend over $100,000 on a Porsche Ferrari that you are buying the best of the best. This just is not the case any longer. I have seen brand new Porsches and Ferraris that after being picked up has to go to a fantastic detailer as yourself. Most of them all have orange peel and if you are not a professional like yourself this is really not the time for an amateur to practice on such a expensive investment. I remember in the '80s and '90s when you spent that kind of money there was nothing more that you needed to do but to keep your paint clean. It's sad today that this is not the case. You should not have the worry after spending this kind of money and have a paint job that is no better than a Volkswagen or a Ford.
I enjoy your videos and I really love how this Mercedes is turning out.
You're the best detailer in the world!
Kamil R Your comment is a bit overboard because there is millions of detaillers that you don’t see working.
I’m pretty sure Sandro himself wouldn’t make that claim.
He is one of the best for sure let’s put it that way
What a unpretentious, down to earth & informative channel ... look forward to more ... thanks for sharing your tips ...
Sandro, you truly are the Sidney Nolan of the car detailing world. Watching the quality of your work is truly an honor for those of us into cars. I think you do need a helper just to do all the masking tape work.. lol
Couldn't have put it better
Liked a lot your comment at the end of the video about today's car manufacturers and cating costs by using less paint & not only on new cars...really that is the truth.
It's just fun to watch a master at work!
Probably the best music out of all the car detailing channels! 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Another professional finish, by the master detailer.
Wow the part about cost cutting and older cars simply having more paint on them, really an eye opener so simple and obvious yet I've never considered it. Great job on the merc.
I wish I could could detail at this level. This guy is an artist with paint correction.
It's fascinating to see the process of selecting the correct pad and polish combination for the paint. I appreciate the walk through on that. When all the "old timers" say X ain't built like they used to I am slowly realizing they are correct. It's a damn shame.. I do really enjoy Mercedes 90s to 2005 even with all their reliability gremlins though.
Sandro, epic work as per usual mate. Always learn something from your videos. Many thanks for imparting your knowledge on us. Much appreciated. Can't wait for the next episode. 👍
For those of us that truly are looking to improve our craft, many of your hands on video’s have been and continue to very instructional. Thanks and Aloha from Maui.
I love your work, man. You and a few other content creators persuaded me to get a legit wheel cleaner for my truck, used it today for the first time and finally was able to get most of the stains off of the wheels that car washes haven't gotten for the three years I've had it.
This car makes me cry. It's just so gorgeous. A true Mercedes. Too bad it's near impossible to find one in such good condition. 😭
SDav21 ....there are none of them left on the road and if there are, they spent an absolute Fortune to keep them alive and running.... This was the birth of over engineering by Benz.....they are better than the new vehicles though which are absolutely lease only because of so much trouble within the first three years, directly related to absolutely unnecessary over engineering....
@@ronaldhickman9953 The over engineering is what makes them feel so solid and stable I think. I know someone who has one. A facelift one just as immaculate as this. He refuses to sell it lol. Just basic maintenance and all is fine. Yes it may cost more to service, but keep it serviced and they go forever. I don't see how people have broken bits and funny things. For a ride like this and luxury like this, it won't be cheap. The problem is people get them cheap second hand then don't plan for maintenance. Then the car starts to fall apart. All cars need maintenance. People say Toyota is reliable but Toyota is cheap and their maintenance is cheap so people are able to upkeep it. But people by the German cars second hand for cheap but forget that maintenance will cost more. So they don't upkeep it and all goes bad. Like my dad's C Class, 16 years old and still immaculate and perfect. It only goes to Mercedes for servicing. When the computer says service now, we take it. If it needs new shocks, we replace it. All cars need certain major items replaced after many years and kms. It's not fair to blame the manufacturer for people not looking after their cars.
Hey Sandro! Nice job. It’s great to see the classic cars on showcase. That Benz is nice! The cake is cook...next, the icing and cherry on top! 👍🏾
Should be very proud of the content you produce mate. Definatly the best car detailing channel around, and the time and effort you put into these cars is awesome 👌
I was waiting for this since I saw part 1 of the video. This guy is the best , he is awesome.
You do amazing work. The detail process is like asmr to me. To be honest, if I was the owner I would have gotten rid of this car as soon as I saw the rust spots on the doors. Unfortunately early models 2000-2003 had rust issues due to the door not being properly cavity sprayed on the inside of the door causing rust from inside out. I recently sold my 03 because of this exact rust spot and picked up an 06.
Your mini polisher is brilliant !
Excellent video.
And you’re absolutely right about paint quality on older cars. It was simply better.
Beautiful music and style. You Rock.
This channel is seriously underrated. Could watch these all day. Love the work mate.
I’m about to do a 2000 Jaguar XJ8 - fortunately it was garaged its entire life and only has 22,000 miles (my dad gave it to me). I particularly love all the specialty polishers you have - each being used for specific purpose. I don’t expect to do the same paint correction, but it was fun to watch.
I just hope you get half as much satifaction from the finish you achieve as I get from watching you achieve it. I'm not sure why RUclips first suggested a detailing vid for me but I'm hooked on watching and so glad to see a fellow Aussie excelling. Looking forward to the final installment of this series. One day I might even try detailing my own car, a 2015 Toyota 86, mind you I used to think it had a decent paint job but now I know better. Stay safe and thanks for putting this content out there.
This paint looks very much like Dark Red Mica in the Audi Exclusive range. Have an RS3 sedan about ready for collection in this colour....looks stunning, Sandro.
I like the yellow wool pads. And again you give us a fantastic vid. Footage and editing is outstanding. Thank you so much!
Just to say WOW and thank you for your insider tips and knowledge:)
fantastic work on a stunning automobile. its great to watch a craftsman ply his trade.
Wonderful content as always. I find your experimentation with pads and products most fascinating. Your ability to see differences in the various results is amazing and IMO the most difficult aspect of detailing. To the lesser trained eye, many of the combos that you reject would have seemed perfectly acceptable. What I struggle most with is not assessing defect removal but rather subtle "haze" and oxidation. Any tips on what you are "seeing" with the rejected combos is most appreciated. Thx
Thanks and I think it’s just doing it very often that’s allowed me to assess and see things others might miss, but it’s really just a slight lack in clarity or haze that’s preventing the paint from looking it’s best.
Watched part 1 also wow the paint looked clean after the Decon. 26:00 you are right about new car paint car company's are spraying much mills to work with. Enjoying this series you are a master at this craft.
Ok now you have us drooling for the third part. Just astonishing work.
I hear you loud and clear on that last point about cars being made with cheap and nasty paint. I own a 2014 mitsubishi lancer and the paint is ridiculously soft and I assume thin. The only polish I use on it is menzerna 3500 with a shine mate red pad, and this seems to correct a lot of defects (around 85-90%)... where as this combo doesnt do much on my mums early 2000s commodore. Mechanically Ive had zero issues, but it goes to show how theyve cut corners on other parts of the car. Just my 2 cents. :)
Great video as always 👍
@@CarCraftAutoDetailing it really is.
Just a quick question; I did a side by side test of jet and lustre and Ive noticed jet is not performing well in the hydrophobic department. Lustre on the otherhand is outperforming jet which is strange. Lustre has decent water behaviour while the jet had water behaviour is on par with turtle wax wax and dry lol.
I properly prepped the panel: decontamination, wax and grease remover wipedown followed by a IPA wipedown. Two layers of product were applied to each section 24hrs apart. Both applied according to the directions to the best of my ability. The sections were nit exposed to water during the cure.
Is there a learning curve with jet? Any tips to get around this?
Agreed, I would also like to echo the focus on over abundance on "gadgets" in new cars to wow potential buyers and distract away from the quality of materials used.
Great job Sandro those rupes wool pads are amazing they finish down so great you probably polish with just water and good results can't wait for the coating video
Your attention to detail is amazing.
Wow!!! That colour is so deep
Fantastic end result 👍. As someone who owns a 1990 W124 Mercedes I fully agree that the quality is severely lacking these days sadly. MB simply can’t afford to make their cars the same way as they used to.
yet they cost around 100K to 250K for a 2019 C63 or E36 or even a S600 anything almost new cost so much its not funny, its like we will skip on the paint and inside a little and make the running gear to be strong?
7071t6 - Yes very much quantity over quality these days. MB are still at the forefront of innovation and safety but without the emphasis on highest quality. I suppose the brand now reflects the throw away society the we all live in and change our cars every few years - so why make a car last?. Even though the prices are still huge, their cars are still cheaper to make if you factor inflation. I agree their drive trains are very tough.
Loved the S-Class Series, you did an outstanding job and I think the dad (owner of the S-Class) will love you for this! ☀️ I’m looking over your shoulder to learn from you, thank you for sharing your knowledge 👌🏽
Spectacular!
A true pro. Nice work! I know you love the Rupes yellow wool, I just can’t ever get it to finish haze free on soft black paint, no matter what product I use.
I have the same car (even down to the spec) except in metallic black. This shows just how stunning it would look if I properly detailed it and didn’t have to have it parked outside. Oh the woes of a daily driver 😩
Sandra, I recently polished my Corvette using a Rupes White Foam Pad and Menzerna 3800. I didn’t have any swirls or defects to my clear coat, but my goal was to amp up the gloss in preparation for applying ArtDeShine BX Graphine Coating. I used both my MaxShine M15 with a 5” pad and my Griot’s Garage 3” polisher for more intricate areas. I noticed slightly better finishing with the 3” over the 5” pad and I am not sure why. I was using the same Rupes White pad and polishing liquids for both machines, just different size pads. Why do you think I was getting better finishing with the smaller pad? I thought you may be able to answer this question. Thanks!
Car Craft Auto Detailing Thank you. The smaller pad and less throw makes a lot of sense. I don’t think in my case it’s a cleaning issue. I blow out the pad after each pass and change to a new pad after about two panels. I guess it makes sense that the best technique for jeweling is with a rotary with no throw. Like I said, the difference was very slight. I appreciate your input. I learn a lot from your great videos. Thanks again!
@@stevegreer1963 it's Sandro lol
Opening RUclips and seeing the most relaxing video to watch!
Great video as always buddy!!!
You are definitely a PRO!!!!
Keep it up!!👍💪👍
Nice work once again Sandro. I'm intrigued to know what the correction did in terms of paint thickness remaining.
Much obliged 👍
Really loved this series. So thank you.
Speaking from experience on mercedes Paint of this Era. My family owns 6 of them, Rupes wool pads are perfect for it almost everytime. I've even one stepped with the rupes blue wool using S20 Black.
White spider pad is second best. But this wasn't on a forced rotation machine.
Also when they become available to you. I highly recommend picking up the new Rupes DA Coarse and Fine Polishes. They are quite excellent.
Have loved every second of these 2 videos. You are a credit to the detailing industry and your no bullshit approach is refreshing to hear. Keep up this great work!!
Excellent Sandro! Really enjoyed this (was looking forward to it!). Looking forward to part 3 now!
Fully agree with you about the differences in quality between older and newer vehicles. I have a 2000 5 Series BMW and a 2007 3 Series BMW and the difference in those 7 years is like night and day - the 5 Series was manufactured with a totally different approach and getting out of one and into the other is a completely different experience in pretty much every respect.
Thanks for p2. I love your video so much.
Complimenti Sandro , Bell m
Lavoro 👌🏻👌🏻
i am in love i think the 70's and 80's are the best looking mercs but the way this is coming up i might have to add 90's
The genius does it again
another great video Sandro! always great quality, with great music too! can’t wait for part 3! 😄
Thanks for the awsome videos and sharing your knowledge. You honestly have amazing talent in both detailing and making videos it is always a pleasure to watch.
The finish on that beauty was so great, I had to wipe down my phone screen with IPA :D
What a terrible waste of beer.
Hey bud. Enjoying your videos. Glad to see others as fussy as me. Especially on a Merc. Getting in all the nooks and crannies. Any chance you can do a video on all the products and equipment you use and recommend. Thanks for all the great work. Ps, enjoying the back ground music as well.
Nice to hear that, thanks! Yes, it’s on my list to do a video/s on my most used and favourite products.
This is so calm and satisfying !
Peugeot in the 80s used to make a point in their literature about the depth of paint being atleast twice the industry average PLUS clear coat.
They werent lying either.
What’s the paint color code/name? Beautiful color!
I love the music you use❤️❤️
Splendid Sir i myself have the cordless polishers for 6 months now but still afraid to use them
wow what an inspirational video, a true master
I have this model. But got here because of youtube suggesting me video about leather seat restoration (great one btw). Rust issues are heavy on this car sadly, bottom of the doors, near door knobs, some on the roof and fenders. Otherwise great car, and properly restored imo looks better than W221 ^^
I had the 320 with v6. Was a decent ride with air suspension
Looks amazing. Job well done
U r the god of detailing
Sandro's the best hands down. Classic w220 is a time less design. Had an 02 S500 as well. The rust bubbles on the lower panels is a common issue. Otherwise perfect
ahh man, i was gonna totally leave out those vent lines (13.00)...but now I HAVE to do it.lol.its a good thing.
Quite relaxing, watching one of my favourite models of MB getting this absolute treat, amazing job mate!
So excited to see part 2!!
Amazing job, looking forward to part 3!
That’s was very interesting Sandro as just shows the quality of the finishing on modern cars has definitely plummeted over the years . My brand new Mazda CX-5 machine grey has only 70 to 80 um of paint thickness on the roof rest of the car various between 85 -120 Bonnet been the next low area of 85 -97 um . Granted I just need a light polish with a Rupes yellow pad to get the paint looking too notch, I would be very cautious in attempting a deep scratch removal from any panel on the car , I would rather play it safe and buzz over it will a yellow Rupes pad with a polish and take it from there and learn to live with the scratch to save thinning out the clear coat .
Fabulous video tho Sandro really top notch yet again , starting to run out of words to use 😂 .
Not to sound snobbish or anything, but the paint on your Mazda might be thin due to the fact that it's a non premium car make, hence cheaper paint and materials. I'm guessing a more premium brand car make might use slightly thicker paint.
@@CarCraftAutoDetailing when does it come to a point you just can't polish the paint? What does the paint thickness usually read when you go through the clear coat to the paint layer?
@@badman1220 most likely true I have 2018 Mazda 3. And for the price of $23,000 CaD. The paint is.horrible when it comes to paint chips. I'm pretty sure I have a dozen paint chips on my paint now after a year of driving
@badman1220 , have a look at this ,

@@CarCraftAutoDetailing Hi Sandro. Great knowledge we are enjoying here, thanks! Can I please have your business email for more specific consultations and contexual issues for detailing as business. Cheers!! JIL.
WOW!!! Great Job!!!
The master detailer
Keep up the great work!
GBU for sharing us your knowledge and experience, can’t wait for part 3
Those darn bean counters. Sandro love here your thoughts on PPF and maybe a lot detailers will be applying it and maintaining since paint today is soft and hardly on the body panels. Nice pneumatic Rupes polisher.
@@CarCraftAutoDetailing have you detailed on ppf cars before? If so, I'm sure all love to hear and see how you tackle it .
Awesome video, thank you so much for sharing the knowledge you have, just a quick question, did you use the same combination of polish & pad for bumpers ?
impressive as a job. well done !!! 😋👍🏻🇫🇷
Hoooo un compatriote qui suit la même chaîne ! 👍 👍 👍
Encore un. 👍
You have mastered your craft, my hat goes off to you.
Ps good music choice from 13:00 onwards
Love that color!!!!
Yes! Been waiting for this second part .
awesome work....thank you for your information about the windscreen....
Thanks again Sandro! These videos can't come out fast enough, looking fwd to part 3!
Btw what masking tape do you recommend to protect gloss black trims?
Another gem Sandro! How many pads did you use? Did your blow them out after each pass or every couple of passes?
What a good job as always, I really like watching your videos I learn new things, keep going very good videos greetings from mexico👌✌
Great vids! Great attention to detail and the vids are put well together with lots of information. Keep up!
Very good content 👍
A great job and superb finish... Interested to know how you find the Rupes Mille ? Looking forward to part 3. 👍🏼👌🏼
Car Craft Auto Detailing I was looking to upgrade to forced rotation, but I hear so many people slating them. I recently polished a S500 coupe 2017 car and it had to be hit hard. I found the Rupes UHS polish and accompanying pad worked well, but a bitch to keep clean.
Awesome video.
You’re like the Australian detail geek
Hi i've just found your channel nice to see someone with true passion its second to none !! are you able to tell me the track playing towards the ends its FAB , Keep up the goods work , Trev UK
This color is amazing. Sad, that these cars were rusting like hell and had some electronic problems.
Great job. Keep the videos coming.
Amazing video! Could you make a video about polishing gauge clusters?
A piece of Artwork 🙌🏼.. Fan from Pakistan 🇵🇰
Man that was awesome! Might have to grab some of those rupes yellow wool pads.
Excellent job! Excuse me, what polisher did you use to polish the glass, the windows?
Wow ! Looks like a glass of high quality red wine 😁
Car so good the rust is even shiny😂
The toughest part of been a professional detailer is to be constant in your work ethic.
