This video resembles me one happy day, when I was listening Beethoven played by Isaac Stern in Moscow Conservatory in 1992. The same enormous energy and power, the same expression and clarity, the same beautiful sound. One of the greatest performances of this concerto I ever heard.

Most powerful first movement Kreisler cadenza that I've ever heard.

Kreisler truly is the king of cadenzas in my opinion! Give him a theme and he will take it to otherworldly heights. Beethoven with Kreisler was still one of the best concerts I ever gave and will remain in my memory always. I may not be on the big stage like Isaac (of course, for I am not so gifted as he is), but I don't need to be nor do I want to be. I feel as though the joy of playing would go away if I turned it into a full-time job. No, I'll stick to exploring the amazing world of beautiful music with my teachers and my friends for the rest of my life, giving concerts for those I love!

I think this is the best performance of Bethoven ever, and thank you that somebody finally posted! I heard this long ago on the television about the nineties ... When was this recorded?

Hi, actually I didn't know the year. But, just very recently, I read an article about a performance by Stern and Metha with the Israel Philharmonic at London's Festival Hall in 1980. In this video, Stern appears to be in his 60s, so it could be that concert, but I'm not sure

@@simonedisoccio3910 It was time about when I started cello at Music academy in Belgrade. Tv was turned on with random programs on goverment Tv channel, and it was like some intermission playing Bethoven, just Rondo Third movement. Like a young cellist I even didn't know for sure what was that, but I immediately run to turn record button on my VHS recorder to catch that beautiful and powerful performance. I was amazed how this music instantly sounded so beautiful and captivating to me, broadcasted even over ordinary analog TV station. But this your recoding here is with lower sound quality then mine I recorded then. This is the case about bad luck, that even some of the stunning events are not saved, or even recorded sometime - and not available in public any more ... also, I lost this my VHS cassette somewhere. I believe this your old recording could be processed for better, clearer sound quality ... Anyway, thank you a lot!

Мне эта критика кажется несколько преувеличенной. звучание оркестра должно быть полноценным и уж точно солист не исполнял этюд
