Crush: "what kind of music are you into?"
Me: "Dark ambience of Gothic choirs & Ancient Cults"
Man, I haven’t been on a date for like 3 years and I’m afraid this is going to be the answer I’m going to give to that question
man of culture
Thanka for the likes my fellow dwellers, had no idea til rn. Tis a honor 🎖
That's the most INTP-honest answer (to the question in that context) I've ever heard.
Yes
I remember a comment i saw on youtube that said ''In that dark place, happy music only reminds you of what you don't have, making you even lonelier. Music like this, it's like having someone there. Someone who isn't trying to perk you up, someone who just listens''. That describes this channel to perfection. After 3 years of dealing with a depression i thank the creator of this channel and all the artist like enmarta, keosz, god body disconect, protoU, word clock, hoshin, aphocryphos and a lot of other great artist, for being the ones who are listening to me everyday. Thanks from the bottom of my heart.
I always found the 1-4-5 chord progression pop music to be more sad and oppresive than any of this as it is all completely blind to its own spiritual void. Its as if it all wants to scream yet they have no mouth, its branded "art" that has lost its true voice.
I think if you read a very engaging book, take psychedelics, or simply just go out in nature, and then you come back and listen to something along the lines of THIS IS HOW WE DO DO, the rot that takes hold of you is just overwhelming, I can't describe how awful it is, its almost pure in how conceptual the dissonance between two states of mind can be. Its what was called in earlier times "Profane".
How offensive is it for something to completely blind itself to the authenticity of human passion and the struggle towards higher values? How irresponsible is it to proliferate these "artforms" through marketing and subliminal inductions of addiction? How malicious is it that they produce a multiplicity of artificial wants to feed a mechanistic corporate machine, as you say "reminding you of what you don't have". Art should always be esoteric, about seeking that which is internal, not about seeking what is external
Shawty had them Apple Bottom Jeans [Jeans]

Haha the ending of my rant was some kind of stream of conciousnesses, invoking an exoteric lyric (or a good way of looking at it is "hyper-literal"). Maybe I was trying to show what was inside that kind of a hyper-literal mind, within this dreamscape of music, and the juxtaposition would highlight the blindness I mention.
And that is a bigger problem with all of us, we are all incredibly rational and literal thinkers. I am able to listen and speak these sorts of misanthropic rants and yet mantain a much happier countenance than many people I am around, and I end up having to take it upon myself to be a kind of ray of sunshine in the lives of others who cant see past themselves. And then I remember that I first had to act out that action within myself: destroy the demons that were going to make it impossible to look past myself. It's very humbling, when you realize every good action you do has a microcosm in your own being, you realize you had to find the evil in yourself before you could solve the evil outside, and it kinda gives your ego a rest, as you realize the troubles the ego brings in to begin with.
But the key here is literal thinking, if you try to convey these emotions you will get some kind of response that "you are looking too much into it" or "not enjoying/being yourself". As far I can tell, the reality is sentiments like this are viewed as threats because people think too literally, and box everything into some kind of nominalist or pseudo-DSM-V pidgeon hole. You become viewed as labels as opposed to complex matrices of action, and this error is one of the joys of taking the human experience literally.
For instance, a good definition for "world" is "age", which means if one is to hate the world, or even "Man", it really means you hate the "state of man" or the "state of the world". Anything impure is temporal and can always change and be redeemed. And people fucking joke around "I HATE PEOPLE" almost blindly and in a cliched manner, without really giving their own sentiments and intuitions the respect they deserve to fully flesh out their world-views. And these emotionally charged words are always used over the smallest of life-events, and that is how you can truthfully say peoples lives are "upside down".
For christs sakes the best thing is to simply READ A BOOK NIGGA, that is one way the West can learn to have a healthy detachment from reality, a detachment where we don't take ourselves so seriously, yet can contemplate heroic action. But that is why we had a connection to the Divine: A non-human perspective that allowed us a third person view of ourselves outside of our little fish-tank.
Thank you for taking the time to read my comment and return with an insightful reply. I find too much that my generation is pussified when it comes to self-expression, they get close to some internal core and then they deflate "I don't know what I was thinking I'm random I'm just ranting lol :P" How silly are we all, and how glorious is the Fool!
It seems you had a format of addressing my paragraph with your own paragraph. It worked, thanks for the read. And try not to look at it as "escapism", you have to think of it as upward movement, finding a space to find what you need to apply in your own life. If you would like to talk more, hit me up. The replies obviously blew up to something, something beneath the surface.
what the fuck
Pop music isn't art, it's just something for the masses to cling on to. They listen to it because other people they know listen to it. That's the extent of their feeble existence: worrying about what other people they know are doing. I can't really stand being around any of them. It's like they have no souls, no spark.
Happy pop music has always made me miserable. It's delusional. It's always crude and mindless. It's created by a bunch of marketing people in suits that write each word not to tell a story, but to be remembered by as many people as mathematically possible.
My friends tell me that this type of music makes them "depressed". I love dark music, whether it be doom metal or instrumental stuff like this. I don't know why I'm like this, honestly. I've always preferred the night to the day, storms to the sun, and solitude to crowds.
That probably sounds narcissistic as fuck, but it is what it is.
_"And so Abaddon the Despoiler, Supreme Overlord of Chaos, passed through the midst of his servants, not caring whether they lived or died, whether they served him through devotion, so long as they served him first through fear."_
Glad to hear that others were reminded of Warhammer 40k.
That's what I came here for. 40K style music.
Hey that's from that short story in the White Dwarf where a prisoner got killed solely for looking Abaddon in the eye instead of facing down, right?
While the warmaster of chaos goes forth on his crusades the imperium shall stand for his avenging son has returned and the golden one on Terra shall have his vengeance for cadia and all lives took by the despoiler's hands
Ave imperitour Gloria in excleses Terra
I'm listening to Horus Rising right now... making me think of... SAMUS....
Here rests Abaddon the Despoiler, he lived as he died: a traitor and a failure
I’ll play this loudly in my apartment in the middle of the night, then give my neighbors cryptic stares the next morning.
Did you do it?
xD
We love you.
Are they still there?
The comments 😂 smh
A very fitting audio track to listen to while reading Dante Alighieri’s Inferno
or anything occult..
Through me one goes into the town of woe,
through me one goes into eternal pain,
through me among the people that are lost.
Justice inspired my high exalted Maker;
I was created by the Might divine,
the highest Wisdom and the primal Love.
Before me there was naught created, save
eternal things, and I eternal last;
all hope abandon, ye that enter here!
That book is literally his fan fict. He is basically being led through a pretty chill hell by his favorite poet.
I have this in the background while i'm drawing. Pretty nice.
Or while shagging; you could pretend you're taking part in the conception of the antichrist! (pretty sure I've nicked this joke from somewhere) & yeah I might nose through inferno with this on. What would go with purgatorio? I reckon eno's discreet music for paradiso....
Im kinda nervous that like in the background someone is gonna summon a demon into my house without my knowledge, and i'm going to wake up and see Satan eating my Cheese its at 3 am.
NOT THE CHEESE

Musicians nowadays : make good song

Gold!!!
this is all by 'musicians nowadays' - it's basically ambient music with (I think) synth choirs and sampling, I guess you're musically illiterate to mistake this for actual choral writing
Lol, thy parade be pissed upon!

I have never called anything "bone-chilling" before, but that's the right term for this. At around the 18 minute mark I felt my chest go cold and hollow. This is so well done: my skin is crawling. I've wanted to find something like this for so long. It is magnificent horror, a glorious woe. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
Dude your words just like kissed me on the cheek but in a demonic way
Welcome to the brotherhood of Dark Ambient. Grab your candle and follow me.
my favorite part is around 10:30 until 14:30
I mean, I dunno about you guys, but this music/ambiance is great for when I do just about anything with w40k. Whether I'm reading the books, playing a tabletop game, or simply putting together models, it makes me feel like I'm almost there. This stuff is simply enchanting, pulling you to places you never thought you may ever visit.
Fujishawa considering how grim and Gothic 40k is? I can see it. Though as such an action oriented game and setting I do find this selection kinda surprising. XD
Dude... I build and paint my Nids to this haha
Greetings, brother!
'm glad I'm not the only one searching for this kind of music inspired out by Warhammer 40,000...
I’m a devoted 40K fan myself, and I listen to CryoChamber stuff all the time- I’m actually listening right now, while reading one of the Horus Heresy books. You have good taste! And yeah, it’s nice to know I’m also not the only one on here. =][=
What books? Can you name ‘em?
So I can’t fall asleep to the meditation sounds or sleep music but I can easy fall asleep to this music, who knew
Drawing biblically accurate angels while listening to this. I love this music at 02:31 AM, it's so inspiring for my art.
For those of us who are naturally comfortable with the dark we sleep in total pitch black cutting off any beam or light whatsoever. when at times we need peace we crave a sound of thrill in our element of one that makes us comfort in out darkness like a blanket wrapped around us. So music like this makes me one with my entire house as I sit in the center of it with calmness and ease in pitch black. it's the difference between a therapeutic session with ourselves and a normal night of sleep.
Jay Dallas very well said
Me currently
I've always felt so much more comfortable in the dark. my favorite times are often just sitting outside in the pitch black and listening to the world, knowing that I am the only one watching it in that moment.
Indeed. It is in the primordial sea all was created and it was in the depth of a black abyss thatman evolved. Light and dark are of equal value
I have never heard this described so well. Cheers man
I love using this as music for writing, for sleeping, for walking, for reading, for drawing, etc.. Cryo Chamber has become the soundtrack of a not too small part of my day-to-day life.
Here, here!
Right on- exactly the same here. =][=

I was really craving a gothic cult mix. Perfect!
If anybody's interested about the artwork, it's a piece called 'Jeroboam Sacrificing to the Idols' (1752) by Jean-Honore Fragonard.
"Gothic Choirs and Ancient Cults."

Have you ever heard, of the tragedy of darth plageuis the wise...

Just Moloch.

I can always find there something exeptional for my RPG sessions. Thank you!
I use these often for Stalker Shadow of chernobyl. Fits like a glove
I use it for Dark Souls, and WoW (playing Shadow Priest)
I use it for planescape Torment, fits really well for a lawful evil character.
Also for Grim Dawn!
Dark Heresy 2nd ed :)
Whenever i feel alone & lonely, i'll play this song coz i know someone is always with me......
I don't get how you people commenting here associate this music to depression. I found it quite enjoyable.
I think it’s a bit dark but not depressing
At first I thought about complaining about the absurd amount of ads in the video... but then it hit me that they deserve the ad money, and much, much more for their work. Long live Cryo Chamber.
WOW, mind = blow. Another excellent work from the Cryo Chamber crew.
Probably the the most amazing mix on here so far. So now I want Ancient Choirs and Gothic Cults Remix.

Simply marvellous, swirling around and providing my studies with an urgent but restrained encouragement. Superb stuff, please produce more of it.!
I want this live, exhibited from a real choir, located in a subterranean chasm temple built out of dark glass-like stone into acoustically amplifying/modulating rings along the interior surface for manifesting the resonant magnitude of changing reality on a cosmic scale using imagination, meditation and incantation.
Wewski.
You are very spiritual? Intresting. I wonder if youve heard whispers on the wind of the primordial sea
I listen to this with my headphones while working at home due to the corona virus, and i can honestly say it has given great pleasure. It feels like I am being cleansed in an Inferno of my Sins.
I have always loved dark chior sounds like this. This is incredible!
Whoa, this mix was so ominous and looming, very well crafted!! Well done!!

Love the Emperor
for He is the salvation of mankind
Obey His words

for they speak in His voice
Tremble before His majesty,
for we all walk in His immortal shadow
DEATH TO THE FALSE EMPEROR

This one been, by far, my go to for painting and setting great moods in the house. The way this starts reminds me of the best, most horrifying, lovecraftian dreams I have of abandoned cathedrals made to various god-like beings of alien-like origins. Can't wait to hear what new stuff is posted 🤙💯💯💯
This playlist is awesome. Its very similar to the Dark ambient music that I write when I'm not focusing on my other musical projects.
When I need something Original sounding for my soundscapes as I write.
These are invariably some of my best choices.
Couldn't do proper horror or Warhammer 40k without it.
I thought the picture was Diocletian holding up that plucked chicken, and the guy being restrained was Aristotle trying to get at Diocletian. Featherless bipedals are great.
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart you,re thinking about Diogenes the Cynic, and the one he was criticizing was Plato not Aristotle.
No matter how long I go without listening to this i always seem to be drawn back, like some distant forgotten memory that keeps beckoning me back but when I try to remember it disappears.
Im thankful that this channel exists
I like to listen to this when i go to sleep
"Heaven was real; beautiful gardens, flowers of any colour, melodies of birds never seen before stood before my mortal eyes, delightful.
A faint warmth, like one left by a dead flame, peaceful but sad at the same time, was caressing my skin while, surprised, I found myself in front of a golden seat, a magnificent throne of eternal judgement, its past glory whispered of many atrocities, as well as miracles.
It was empty, just like the hollow halls of the palace.
To the eternal questioning of the existence of a God there's at least, finally, an answer.
I shrud in horror.
There *was* one. And He, or She, was able to bleed."
Or you could just make a blank comment -your username was just enough-
God is dead tbh where is this from?

Wow, amazing how well this channel suits my tastes in ambient music
was enthralled the very first few seconds into it... this transports the mind.
Before creation itself had its name, it was declared "Let there be life and death. Let there be pain and ease. Let there be two sides for every coin, two perspectives for every story, every light a darkness, and every darkness a light. Duality shall be its name, and its name is Duality. For every beautiful song there will be an equally haunting silence. For every death a birth, a love for every hate, an up for every down, a happiness for every sadness, and it will be beautiful. Let there be a new creation of new ideas and concepts for every one forgotten, and it will be beautiful. Every beginning will have its end and every end its beginning, and, in its dying breaths the universe shall sing."

hey guys, I'm not new to ambient, but I've no idea about the community, are there any concerts, events, places where you can meet other people who are into this kind of stuff?
But are you new to Dark Ambient?
There probably are, though you might have to look for them. They'd probably mostly be posted in alternative communities. I dunno about concerts for any of the composers on this label in particular, but I'm sure there are gatherings for other artists like them.
I know ProtoU has done live events but other than that I really have no idea
