Mate, that fish you lost your vibe to looked like a giant herring - the way it breached and shook its head and looked like it had a darker top half and a silver bottom half ahaha pretty cool if it was! I heard you can catch them here 😅
yeah I was gonna say turtles, there are some beautiful big turtles down there, also some massive manta rays. they jump clear out of the water, also I saw a big eagle snatch a dead bream out of the water there too. maybe what was attacking the drone.
The turtles there are amazing, but love to poke their head up and scare me right next to kayak. Seen the ray jumping it's so awesome to watch. Thanks for watching
I saw pictures of that hammerhead. Was sickening to see. Was a very long fight so was probably exhausted out. The guys did everything right to release in their defence though. Thanks for watching 😁
As long as you remain above water & not in the water your chance of surviving a shark encounter is 100%. I haven't launched the kayak since 14th June due to bad weather mostly. Today I tried land-based fishing in some old haunts. 4.30 am to 9.00 am. Caught a magnificent donut on bait. Did not use lures. My fingers were too cold to bait the hook effectively. I left for home at 9.30am after spending 1/2 hour trying to tie the rods onto the roof rack. Frozen fingers. Next session? Warmer weather with little wind. Thanks for sharing.
@@ChrispyyWings early morning run out tide on some shallow diving hard body’s or just about any softie. Last time I went out there i threw out a atomic hard body first cast and before I even clipped my bail arm over I was on, pulled out a bunch over 55cm and a few 65+. No small ones so far. And I’ve put them all back so there’s definitely a few big girls lurking out there.
@@ChrispyyWings if u ever get a chance and want to try it out watch for the first high tide of the day and flick lures anywhere from the edge of the big weed patch as you are entering the canal all the way down to the corner where it wraps around. I’ve found that they sit on the transition from the shallow weed bed to where it gets a little bit deeper and ambush the small fish that swim by. Moon phase will probably help as I’ve been there on less active days and caught nothing.
@@ChrispyyWings no thanks you mate just starting at kayak fishing and live near Stockton so watching your vids have given me ideas and places to launch cheers
i know exactly where you are, use to live 5 minutes from there... the big bird that would have been attacking the drone is a eagle there is 2 of them there been there for years... and there is plenty of sharks around there mostly hammers from what i've personally seen
I have actually found for me it doesn't matter which way around I have rigged it. Both ways have caught me good fish, and if the fish are bitting they will take it no matter what.
I've been really struggling to find the bream in the deep. Been using the sounder to find them with no luck. I've always done best on the edges. Thanks mate glad you enjoyed
Hey mate, wouldn't be so secret if I told you wouldn't it 😄 I'll give you a hint, south end of Lake Macquarie, also in the comments a few people may of mentioned it
@@ChrispyyWings thanks man I’m a new subscriber to this channel who found you a few days ago trying to find locals who go here and found you I’ll update you what my luck is next time I go there it will be 1st of may actually anyway have a good one. And excited for more of your videos
@brycepatrick3016 I have had plenty success here in the past, my last trip landed me a 92cm Jew. But I have also had some terrible days here and seen plenty of sharks.
I was leaning towards a salmon on the day. Just by the quick look i got when it jumped out. But be very surprised one would snap me off that easily. Tailor is a strong choice aswell

I still wonder what it was to this day. Looks 60cm +
Taking Kayak to Soldiers Point in morning , now you got me worried about Yakkas
Hahaha, good luck mate 😁
Great video, once again. You're doing a great job with the videos, love them all.
Cheers Mc! Glad you enjoyed 😁
That was me in the boat telling ya they were hooked up from the shore 😆
Hahahaa! You found me! Crazy day that was

Best fishing spot around
Oh 100%
Flounder, best tasting fish, really under rated. Make excellent fish and coleslaw burgers crumbed in stuffing mix mate.
Great video 👍
My pop and I used to cook them up all the time when I was growing up. That flounder burger sounds amazing.
Cheers mate 😊
@@ChrispyyWings ohh and don’t forget the Aioli👌
Amazing spot fishing brother
Great spot but don't think I'll rush back
probably that dead hammerhead i saw in the shallows there last week. sick spot though mate. rip in!

It has been freezing, I tried some land based in Newcastle on Monday after work with no luck too.
Thanks for watching
Fantastic video mate!
Thanks John!
Just found this channel. Awesome video's subscribed
Cheers legend!
Heck of a session we’ll done
Cheers legend!
Some people catch alright cobia, school mackerel, big brim and trevally land based up at the hot water
Used to be great fishing in that channel
I’ve pulled some monster flathead just out the front of that little canal with the white bridge.
I have been told this by a few people now. Looks like a perfect spot for them

I have tried a few times but always been there at the wrong time I believe haha

Oh wow, thank you I will need to give that crack next time I'm there
Just watching your bid now mate awesome work have you worked out the sounder yet?
I'm no expert to the sounder. But I understand the basics to it now. 😂
hey mate love your videos thanks

That's exactly it man, usually those Eagles don't attack the drone.
Heaps of sharks, but if they don't scare you, there is plenty of fish to catch
@@ChrispyyWings yeah man, that island when I had my boat was flathead heaven big girls to
I have heard that, always wanted to head over and try it out
Great session, loved the drone shots and btw where do u get your fishing gear?
Thanks mate, glad you enjoyed.
I get my gear from Freddys Broadmeadow and Hot Tackle Toronto.
Both stores have great service and excellent advice.
@@ChrispyyWings thank you very much I actually go to hot tackle in Toronto and I’ve seen freddys but haven’t been there I’ll be sure to check it out😁
No worries mate 😁
How good was the shark u can put me in between the sharks any time bro have to have a flick soon 🤙😁
Was a blast fishing with you mate, glad we ran into each other. Was a very eventful day, hopefully next time there is not a shark.
What type of shark do you suspect? Great White baby? Bull?
I ended up finding out it was a hammerhead from the kids who caught it
What’s your reasoning for rigging that minnow upside down? Do you find they swim better?
I have actually found for me it doesn't matter which way around I have rigged it. Both ways have caught me good fish, and if the fish are bitting they will take it no matter what.
Nice vid mate have you been finding many bream schooled up in deep water or still just fishing the edges?

I'd bet a tailor took you samaki.
Does look like it when it jumps out
Is this where the secret spot tunnels are ?

certainly around dec-jan there's lot of smaller whites in the lake
Nope nope, I did not need to know that haha.

Tailor my guess
