Kottke is probably one of the best guitarists I've ever heard. My late husband and I got to see him perform a couple of times at the Woodstock Opera House, and we'd sing his songs! I loved his crazy, off the wall ad lib dialogue as he continued to tune his guitar, freaking brilliant!
Thanks so much for the love and support, Susan. It really does appear you are a huge fan, right? Do so well to send me a mail on goggle chat to the email address on my RUclips channel description. Look forward to reading from you pretty soon! By the way, so sorry about the loss of your hubby. Please do accept my sincere condolences and unlimited sympathies
Saw Leo early 2000...been to more good Concerts than I can count...his was one of the best. Small crowd, perhaps 500 in a 1500 theatre, Farmington, NM I could say I Love you all....but I don't know most of you. I do Love Leo.
Leo *is* the man! 👍👍 A big fan since I first heard him in '73. Saw him in person in Austin years ago, and hope to see another while he still is touring. :::==={o )
I love, love, love rings! Don't care for the lyrics...except for Mel Blanc, (my dad met him), Tony, (my oldest son), 'n Mario, (such a fine Italian name)! What a beautiful melody!
I saw Leo...around this time. My previous partner was a self taught, finger picking with the things on fingers; a 12 string with the capo thing? Your calling me
Leo Kottke, you song on twelve strings guitar is better, marvelous, beautiful, big and great genius (te escuchamos desde Paraguay, South America desde los años 70`s).
Great camera work! The resolution is good enough to see that Leo's playing with only 11 strings. The 1st string (and its tuning key) is missing. It would be interesting to know whether he had equipment problems and was forced to play without the 1st string, or whether he intentionally removed the string. It's hard to imagine that he doesn't travel with backup parts and guitars.... So my guess is he removed it intentionally. In any case, he still sounds great. Thanks for posting!
is it just me but ,is there a person barfing off mike.plus...he just told a story he has been telling for ten years....same with the David Lindley comment..the context of how it ends up in the 3rd is slightly interesting...ugh ,, maybe he's had a lobotomy, it's just too repetitive..

Tony and Mario owned a restaurant the couple liked. Look it up on Wikipedia. Can't make stuff up very often like the back story.

EXCELLENT...
true musician TY
Great camera work on these. Goin to upload more ?
Leave it to Leo to tell a better story and play a better tune then when it first came around.
He said once that he tried to convince Mel Blanc to contribute some Elmer Fudd ambiance to the recording of this one. "I'm glad you came awound..."
Like butter.

Noticed that too!
Nice catch.
You can see that the tuning peg has been removed, probably for ease on his pinky. Still great. Saw him recently in ABQ, loved it.
good dance music
Endearing!
@engineerartist .......great catch, engineerartist.
@CFLanger He's the most likely person to know.
@fngrstyl - Just uploaded the last two.
@CFLanger Don't know what it is, but I'm sure there's a story behind it.
@CFLanger ...I'll ask him, and Andrew.
@engineerartist He still has the little garbage can as well. I wonder what the story behind that is?
@engineerartist I'll bet Joe Carpenter knows.
You have to be pretty good at in between song patter if you play (and tune) a 12 string!

With a name like Regina Studerbaker, I hate to disagree, but there it is...
David Lyndley is indeterminate.
