Roosters are natural alarm clocks. They helped people wake up in the morning for thousands of years.

@@dude8273 😀 Welcome to the world of the annoying Roasters or Chickens all through the night 🤔 I think they are actually singing to God or mating or playing some kind of fun Roasters Games or they just like to hear themselves Make noise last but not least that Could be some kind of loud pay back for seeing one of there 🐔 family members killed and put in flour and hot Grease 🤷🏽 I had to look it up I was thinking they only made that noise before the Sun came up I started thinking it was a sign of a bad omen to hear Roasters or Chickens crowing before 🌞 I play the audio Bible on my Bluetooth speaker and drown them out for sleep the buggers sounds like they are far away but that sound echoes right through the apartment , the Bluetooth speaker sometimes it works out to where I forget about em , Nothing much we can do about em but try and ignore em 😀 ear plugs not an option for me if you find a solution ,I don't know what could be done about them I'm sure we are not the only people that are annoyed by em
@@narrowroadtraveler4167 thanks for your suggestions but i do have one of those ear muffs that ppl use it on a gun range. it's somewhat bulky and uncomfortable so i don't use it all the time when going to bed, but i was surprised it completely blocked out rooster's cry last night. i tested it while it was crying so i can confirm it works haha.
And why has a chicken coop got 2 doors? Because if it had 4 it would be a chicken sedan.

Patrick Connors To answer your question: The crescent moon cutout and the star cutout on the door of many outhouses goes back to Colonial times. In a time when few people could read, the crescent moon was the symbol for women while the star cutout was for men.

Why - how ... who knows. Perhaps a rival religion(Christianity) wanted to show "where islam belongs". In reality, it seems noone knows for sure where that symbol comes from...there are only guesses without much to back it up.
UninstallingWindows My mom grew up on a farm with an outhouse which had to be moved every six moths or so due to the stench. Farmers in America & Canada realistically knew nothing about Islam. Not a thing to do with religion, dear. I'm guessing that you're pretty young. Islam has been on a simmer for so long, but the New World was pretty immune to it until the last couple of decades.
The world's in hyper drive about it, now. Not so, when outhouses were the deal.

Now I'm curious as to whether the dinosaur ancestors of this animal also crowed. We're accustomed to roosters crowing, but can you imagine a dinosaur doing something similar?
I've seen the dinosaur equivalent in a documentary called Jurassic Park, highly recommended you should check it out, they got some wonderful up close footage.

It’s still better than living in a city where car alarms & sirens go off all night long.

Nothing is worse than sheep. I HATE sheep. They're Dumb as cows and as noisy as roosters and ate less useful and less valuable. Sheep are a dumb animal.

As someone who raised chickens growing up, they don't. They crow whenever. Especially at 3am during a full moon and refuse to shut up. And then you spend the rest of the night contemplating whether you want fried chicken, chicken soup, or chicken and dumplings for breakfast.

Another bonus fact, hens cluck little egg songs when they are about to lay… and roosters can and will also sing this egg song when he sees his hens laying. Roosters will also pick out good spots for his hens to lay by doing a little dance (different from mating dance) and make cluck sounds indicating that it is a good safe spot to lay. These behaviors are depending on the breed you have. Our black sexlink rooster doesn’t really do these things unlike our mottled houdan or the black copper maran who are very vocal charismatic boys.

In Romania, we say that roosters' crows are telling the time, i.e. it usually it's x o'clock when they crow. And I legitimately heard a rooster crow at midnight. Also, moaaaaaaar bloopers.

We have some neighbors about half or three quarters of a mile away that also have roosters. Every morning, they have a 'discussion.' Instead of the 'twilight bark' (101 Dalmatians,) they have the morning crow.
I once had a rooster that would crow at all hours of the day and night but in particular in the minute I was drifting into sleep. Almost like he knew. Best fried chicken and quiet evenings I ever had.
Years ago my neighbour had the loudest and earliest rising rooster I have ever experienced. One day I drove past his house and there was a huge sign..”rooster FREE to a good home”. Never heard it again after that day.

My grandma told me about and old saying: “A whistling woman and a crowing hen always come to some bad end.” Grandma did her part to make this a true statement. Whenever one of her hens started crowing, that one soon ended up on the table for Sunday dinner.

I think part of the confusion is that coyotes, unlike wolves, do in fact howl at night. They're not howling at the moon, but at one another -- they're usually either calling to family members so they can be reunited or announcing to rivals that the immediate territory is taken. When I lived in East Texas there was a coyote family nearby and you could hear them calling to one another on occasion.

@@fearless4him595 Maybe Eastern coyotes have that concern due to the prevalence of wolves, but Western coyotes only compete against humans and one another. Interestingly, Eastern coyotes show signs of having cross-bred with wolves, and are consequentially large enough to hunt deer.
During the last solar eclipse, my rooster started crowing. Talked with other rooster owners in the area and they experienced the same thing. It was odd.

I heard that the idea of a duck's quack not echoing comes from the fact that a quack pretty much always echoes, so people think they're hearing a clean quack when they're actually hearing an echoing quack.
ive been watching this guys videos for a while now and i think its quite interesting to see the change in the way he conducts himself in the progression of videos. in the top tenz videos it was a bit more awkward and unnatural but in these videos hes super confident and forward and legit has good information to share with the world

I was of the opinion one of the reasons for the norning crow was to effectively collect up it's harem. Sort of like a siren at a factory announcing the work day has started. Free range chicken don't allways roost together so it was the roosters method to call them to gather to start the days activities.

Unfortunately the Americanism of " chickens " meaning hens has swept all before it in recent years. When I was young and listened to Rowan and Martin's Laugh In on BBC 2 , they did a sketch based on Old MacDonald Had A Farm , to which one of them repeatedly retorted " all I got is chickens ". This sounded odd to my ears. My father and his mother in law had lots of hens on their farms - but would never have called them " chickens " , unless they were still under a hen or brood lamp. Now we are stuck with it. What are chickens ( youngsters ) to be called then ? Chicks?

The internal clocki is called "circadian rhythm" and while it is fixed, it's external referent is dawn. Experiments that verified this were done on fruit flies and in the mid 1960's on humans to see what would happen in an unchanging environment as part of the human factors protion of the US space program. Those of the fly and humns were very alike showing that this property had evolved very early in the animil kingdom's evolution. As part of my training, I saw a film about the experiments with the fruit fly "Drusophila" and one of my graduate instructors, Dr. Philip Very; Rhode Island College in the 1970's took part in the space program study of circadian rhythm
So I live near a Rooster(s) and at 5:30'ish am (DST included, is accounted in this theory) they crow, WHY because at 4am (98% of the time depending on acts of God like hurricanes and such) is usually the coldest part of the morning as the sun pushes the lower pressure across the land (As such a "WAVE" it heats up the oceans, earth and everything else that the Sun touches behind the lower pressure and the forward wave builds. This continually happens do to the orbit and Earth's rotation. P.S. it's happening right now. Oh God the Humanity!!!). AnyWay as the the air starts to warm up usually around 5:25'ish am the Roosters begin to wake up and start stirring about which leads to eventual CROWING!
Very nice but the experiments including them crowing when kept in the dark, clearly not outside. In which case they crowed on a 23.8 hour cycle. No Sun involved.

I haven't watched the video yet, but I can tell you that roosters crow whenever they feel like it -- even in the middle of the night. That really annoys some people, but I just consider it to be part of the ambiance of rural life.
Does this mean that if a rooster from Europe moves to America, he will continue to crow at the same time, which is now midnight?

lol a 5 minute video - When a rooster crows, he's sending a signal to other roosters that if they trespass, they're asking for a fight. A rooster will often crow from a vantage point above his territory so he can make others more aware of his presence and so that his songs travel farther.

I've noticed that my roosters also tend to crow a lot about an hour or so before it gets dark. I dunno if that means anything, but I tend to interpret it as a call to the flock to get ready to roost. As for hens crowing, yep. It's a thing. I have a couple of bantam hens (a gold lace seabright, and a japanese bantam) which are kept separate from the rest of the birds, and one of them will on occasion start crowing, or at the very least will try.

I don't know about this. We have always had chicken and rooster with them but at night the rooster is put into a closed dark box with a dark blanket over then in a dark shed to stop the stupidly early crowing and they won't do anything until the blanket is removed and most don't crow until the box is opened or removed from the shed. This has worked for 50+ roosters myself and my family have owned.
My mother in law grew up on a farm and she had a rooster that was a ornery little butt. It would chase and spur her siblings and it would crow all the time when it was doing it. It would also crow when it saw her. She says it was a different sounding crow depending what it was doing
Love your bloopers at the end. I used to hear crowing all the time as my neighbor raised free-range chickens and roosters which would fly up into the trees and crow every morning.
My current rooster will usually crow only once a day, when he hears me open the door to come out and feed them. A big change from his predecessor, who crowed constantly and was very territorial.
Hens cluck more and louder in the morning too. We have one hen who gets on top of the highest thing around to crow too.
My rooster crows for no reason all at, all the time, like 50 - 75 times a day/night, Its like he just love doing it. He even crows in his sleep.
I have several roosters, and I am normally sleeping for the dawn hours, so I never really notice, as I can't hear the ruckus from inside the house, but they seem to crow whenever. I am perceived as head rooster, so, they don't crow too much for me, but often will crow when other people come around. When a car pulls into the driveway, they will often crow, sometimes being more accurate than the dogs and their barking.
I'm a minute in and two things came to me: One someone took the time to study roosters crowing and two, it until 2013 to do so.

I do have a rooster leading my flock of hens but the most highest-ranking hen of the bunch also crows sometimes early in the Morning as well.
Growing up in the village Roosters were the morning alarm clark and babies sleeping times in the afternoon!!!
I found myself at this video because of a really odd set of thoughts in this order:
1: Maybe if I yell as soon as I wake up then I won’t feel like falling back to sleep.
2: If I did that then my roommate would hear it and could use me as an alarm clock lol.
3: is that why roosters crow?

I stayed at a campsite once where there was a rooster who crowed from 2am onwards, repeatedly. I thought longingly of stuffing him with Paxo.
we had chickens when I was a child, and our rooster sometimes crowed to a full moon. Also, had a hen who was the "queen" of the harem, but after she disappeared to mind her clutch of eggs, outside the coop, was ostracized by the rooster and other hens upon her return... apparently had lost her rank in the harem... she never did get her rank back, and in her later years started crowing.
Roosters will also crow (or make a chirp-like sound) as a means of calling hens to a food source. Roosters' primary duty is to find food for hens.
I'm pleased that the deliciousness of chickens has been established as fact on TIFO.

The reason for crowing at dawn is the same as most birds in the dawn chorus. It is quietest then, and their voices travel further in the still cold air.
Where I am, the rooster is NOT the first call made, as their main call out of the day starts around 90mins before daybreak, but they never interrupt the owl looking for his mate just before then. Once the roosters have had their say the wood pigeons are usually next to say good morning, and the rest of the birds soon join them.
Insomniacs notice these things.

Perhaps wild Roosters did this to thus stir their brood early in the morning allowing them to move on and then graze earlier than most as whole.
