I go there reguarly. I see it parked at the airport everytime I go and wished I could catch it landing, or taking off. Never saw a dc-10 before. Yesterday when the severe storms were approaching right at dusk, the flight route was right over my house on landing about 10 miles out. I heard a different sound and ran into front yard passing behind the house was the dc-10. It sounded different and cooler than any other commercial plane. The 777's in the mid to late afternoons are awesome too.
Where exactly is this plane spotting area? I would like to visit it the next time I am in Charlotte, North Carolina. I flew to that airport for the first time in June of 2016 where I caught a connecting flight into Melbourne, Florida from there. It was during my annual summer vacation. My flight originated from LAX and into Charlotte Douglas for the connecting flight into Melbourne, Florida. I used to live in a city named Satellite Beach,Florida when I was a kid in elementary school from 1969 to 1971, so I go there on vacation as often as possible being it's my alltime favorite summer vacation spot! So, I was fascinated by the heavy amount of air traffic at Charlotte Douglas when I landed there. On the way back home, we were delayed in taking off due to the heavy amount of air traffic around the airport. But since I was in no hurry, I enjoyed every bit of it! So like I said, I would like to know where this plane spotting area is at Charlotte Douglas. Thanks in advance!
What a great location for plane spotting! Baltimore Washington has a playground just east of the field. It was always a great excuse to take the kids over to play and see the big birds overhead at minimums!

I need to visit this location! Thanks for sharing man!
Sounds better than any 787 or other twin jet!
best overlook in the US of A. I worked adjacent to KCLT for 1 1/2 yrs, and I visited the overlook almost daily.
That's cool, They have a place for plane watchers
