This is a beautifully simple and clear guide video. The zoom in window to show what's being operated is very helpful as you explain. You SHOW & TELL, unlike so many others out there. Was looking into buying this model. Thank you!
I just became the proud owner of an Olympia Traveller de luxe S and your incredibly clear and helpful video has meant I was typing away after only a few minutes. Thank you so much. I will be coming back to this video many times in the near future! Love your work!
Thank you for this guide. I bought one this morning for £5 in a charity shop and it seems to be working fine. I wanted it for my cousin who is in his eighties.
Thanks so much for the video. I found the same typewriter at a thrift store today in a white color and the keyboard is Cyrillic 🙂! I really appreciate the tutorial.
Thanks, it’s a small lever on the right side.. above the carriage ( right side ) just behind the carriage release. Early models or not exactly not the deluxe version , it was only a pull lever and no spring to push it up.
Thanks for getting back to me. It looks like the paper support is jammed inside the typewriter. I'm going to get a local typewriter repair shop to look at it.
Amazing job! In depth and thorough explanation of how to use this particular model. Keep up the great work, you've gained a new subscriber! Where are you and your wife from? I am half Egyptian, so when I heard the accent I was curious!
Thank you for a very good and clear video. I bought one today. It is in very nice condition but the caps lock does not work. I cannot see how the little lever is supposed to operate. It types fine but I find the keys stiff and they need quite some pressure to work. I used a hair drier to try and loosen things up. It worked ok to a degree. I have also oiled it. I thought it would be a lot freer?
Thank you so much for your tutorial. I just inherited one of this from my mother-in-law. I have a question about the ink, mine seem to dried up. Is there anyway you can refill the ink? And how to switch color between black and red ink?
Beautiful video ☺ I just got one from my aunt but it is all rusty and I don't know how to properly clean it. Do you have a video cleaning one of this? It would help me a lot! Thank you~!
Hi, I have this typewriter and the carriage just won't move. It doesn't seem to be locked and both the ribbon as well as the keys work fine. I was wondering if you know what the problem is, because I feel like I've already tried everything!
Excellent video, thank you very much! Two questions. Are you happy with this model. I found one for 40$ and wanted some advice. Secondly, is the body of the typewriter, plastic or metal?
Thank you , I love this model. Next week it will be on a special list we are creating … re frames the sides ( edges ) are plastic but securing a metal sides. In the video , it’s the white sides, these are the plastic parts.
Excellent question. Main difference is the tab key ( arrow to left ) on left side on the model S. the blue one used Doesn’t have this option. Thank you
People should have a typewriter in case they don't have electricity and have to hand over an important paper. Never denigrate that which saved several lives
I don't travel much; I own an Olympia SM8, Letteras 32 (3) & a 22. I write with a Uniball and yellow legal pads for my first drafts. Simple, for a professional "look," I prefer to hire a professional typist.

As it's a DeLuxe S, does it have a script typeface?
Thank you for this guide. I bought one this morning for £5 in a charity shop and it seems to be working fine. I wanted it for my cousin who is in his eighties.

Perfect 👍🏼

This typewriter is amazing!

Great video. I have one further question...how does one access the paper support?
Thanks, it’s a small lever on the right side.. above the carriage ( right side ) just behind the carriage release. Early models or not exactly not the deluxe version , it was only a pull lever and no spring to push it up.

Pleasure . It will definitely need repair and proper service. Oil doesn’t solve the problem I am afraid.
You helped me soooo much THANK YOU

Great video. I have one of these (a later one from the 80s) is it possible to completely remove the platen on this for cleaning?
Definitely. It’s easy. Screws on knobs and bar on the right inside part and then platen can be removed.
Thank you so much for your tutorial. I just inherited one of this from my mother-in-law. I have a question about the ink, mine seem to dried up. Is there anyway you can refill the ink? And how to switch color between black and red ink?
Hi
Pleasure
Switch colour is on right side ( mentioned on video ). Ink usually needs to be replaced. Re inking is not efficient.
@@MrMrsVintageTypewriters thank you so much 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

Hi, unfortunately it might be stuck due to issue in a part called escapement under the carriage.
Excellent video, thank you very much! Two questions. Are you happy with this model. I found one for 40$ and wanted some advice. Secondly, is the body of the typewriter, plastic or metal?

What is the difference between the S version and the standard Olympia traveller de luxe? Which version are you demonstrating on?
Excellent question.
Main difference is the tab key ( arrow to left ) on left side on the model S. the blue one used Doesn’t have this option. Thank you
Excellent
Thank you! Cheers!
