Well, here it is…song #1 from the 2020 GaMetal Song Ballot! There were several points throughout the year I wanted to do this song, but I kept putting it off for reasons, till finally I just ended up slating it as the year end finale.
I’ve invited our friend Nicolas Daoust along for this one, he recently joined us in the Smash Bros Brawl Main Theme remake earlier this year, and I thought he'd be an awesome fit for this.
We pulled absolutely no punches on this one, we know how much this song means to you all!
I know 2020 was a rough year for most, and I'm SUPER thankful for all of your support throughout this year. 2021 is gonna be awesome one, I can feel it!

Putting “shattering star” in the lyrics like that is really cool.
Do you have an official source for lyrics? If not, then it is a wrong approximation.
@@Hadaron The original lyric is "Megami shattering star" (which makes sense in context to Nemesis' position).
The original lyrics are made up. Latin teachers say it’s not Latin. Italian speakers say it’s not Italian. There are no canon lyrics, and anyone can try to force the words they want in. The very first words in this comment are “the English phonetics are approximative” - because it’s not real words.
EDIT: just to check, I went back to the original song. No hard g to indicate that the word is megami.
@@Hadaron There's a case to be made that it could be Galician or Romanian [www.reddit.com/r/fireemblem/comments/d4dbv0/i_very_badly_through_google_translate_attempted/] I wish Nintendo would release their games' soundtracks (period) and include some liner notes, inserts, metadata, SOMETHING with the lyrics to this, Twilight of the Gods, Id ~ Purpose, Lord of a Dead Empire, and more. Even if it is all gibberish, I still want to know what syllables the soloists/choirs were instructed to sing.

Part of me thinks that they intentionally kept the song and others out of Smash so that new players would be rewarded for checking out the source game and be graced with these bangers.

So, there was a RUclips video where someone timed the first “verse” of God-Shattering Star with the strike of midnight, beginning 2020. Cue all the jokes of this being the reason 2020 turned out like it has.
Now that GaMetal has made God-Shattering Star the final remix of the year, I would like to announce that we have gone full circle. And good on GaMetal to use the Thunder version of the song as an excuse to shred out a solo.
Also, calling it here: last seconds of the video foreshadow the return of Galacta Knight.

I think God Shattering Star must be a really hard track to cover considering most of the lyrics are essentially non-sensical (as far as I am aware). I appreciate the effort which it must have taken to create a full-length version of this with lyrics included, great cover!
The lyrics are in Agarthan, so... sorta nonsensical given that's not a real language lol. It's about humanity rising up and rebelling against the "beast called God" (read: Seiros and the dragons).
@@arachnofiend2859 Given that Serios is completely whack due to her mother being "killed" yeah I'd say humanity needs to rise up. I mean Every Fire Emblem one of Sothis's Children has essentially gone wild in one form or another. Take the Dragon Marth Slew as well as the Chaos Dragon from Fates. All were created by Sothis, the Progenitor God. If you ask me God Shattering Star is a culmination of multiple lines of fate intersecting in one song about man rising up to reclaim the path to survival from a mad god.

@@Lebon19 he remakes songs from time to time. He did inside the final twice, and counting the lyric and instrumental versions he did 02 battle 4 times
While he does do remakes of songs relatively often, there's a trend to it: he tends to avoid songs done in 2015 or later, as he tends to think those versions are satisfactory as is. The only exceptions are certain albums that contain remakes of 2015 songs that were necessary to be included on said albums (anything on GaMetal done in 2015, D3 in Dreamland Invasion). If the slash means anything, the song is likely something along the lines of Birth of a God or J-E-N-O-V-A

Two things, 1) love the Nemesis face paint on the guy singing and how well it meshes with the rest of his outfit. And 2) I love that the most terrifying of Three Houses' final bosses is just a guy
