The black stain, woodgrain and gold hardware gives the desk a classic, timeless look. Reminds me of the woodwork in yachts from 40+ years ago. (Remember the original series of James Bond movies? Seriously, that is my yatch exposure. I have not ever owned a canoe.) I now see both black and white stain in my near future. The end-result is truly outstanding! Cindy and Jim have an amazing eye for design and never disappoint.

I'd never know this was your first full restoration like this. You two did a phenomenal job! Every detail was just so spot on. Hated watching those splashes hit the wall though. You could always faux the whole wall in wood grain 🤷♀️ My favorite way to fix things, cover it up 🤣
I used a Minwax Espresso satin Allen one stain/poly on a knee hole desk I bought from a neighbor online. It was a very heavy buggar with curved bottom dust free drawers and lovely curved feet. The solid top has a curved routered edge around 3 sides (not applied trim) I did a lot of sanding. That black brown is stunning on this piece. Now that it is done it was worth all the time spent on it and I’m so glad I didn’t chalk paint it. I just need to put the handles back on. Your desk turned out great. We saved two more good oldies from the dump! 😉 These small desks are great for laptops!

I've watched many other channels and yours is one of the few that actually teaches. I don't learn much, if anything, from those that just do timelapse with music, and I get impatient with those that hem and haw and repeat the same thing over and over. You hit exactly the right balance, I've already found a wealth of usual information, without a lot of unnecessary (and frankly, boring) chatter. Perfect!
I hadn't thought about using trim like that around a desk. The next time I get a piece that would take something like that, I'm using that idea. Lovely piece. Doesn't have to be a desk anymore.👍
So you changed the color of the wall. I like the new color. And I LOVE the redo. Perfect restoration. I have a little desk just like this that I have been wondering what to do with. This helps me decide.
Beautiful work. I'm a big fan of black stain. You should try it on oak. Really makes the grain and texture pop. Also the fact you didn't need to mute when your stain splattered your wall, you're a Saint. I had to mute myself lol 😆

I do quite a bit of painting but your desk has challenged me to contemplate staining. I love the look of stain, it is very difficult to do. I always end up with a drip mark, even on a flat surface.
