Cindy & Jim, what a fun video! I love the story behind this and seeing your hard work and careful efforts, makes this dresser even more special. I am so lucky that I am the one who got to purchase it. It is now a very much loved piece of furniture in my home! Thank you!
Of course I expected a lovely piece but this exceeded all my expectations, and you 2 had already 'set the bar very high. All the extra touches in addition to a rebuild. That piece pretty much experienced a heart transplant - and a face-lift. Definitely a beauty.
What a Beautiful Antique Eastlake Lowboy with a Nod to empire chest ..You both Turned this into a Gorgeous Piece of furniture. well done and loving the two tone 🥰❣️👍
Just found you folks a couple days ago and have been “binge” watching I believe it’s called. Really enjoy watching you work your magic. I’ve been doing a few pieces here to reclaim the place destroyed by sheltering many cats.
What a labor of love! The final reveal was absolutely stunning! The combination of Black and White Elm stain and Olive gave the piece a true elegance. Love it!
WOW Cindy & Jim!!! WOW❤️💫❤️y’all did an amazing job of All the repairs she needed!!! Love those Beautiful colors together!!! She is now officially a Beautiful Swan!!! 🌺🌸🌼
This is a ‘newer’ old Eastlake piece (probably 1900-1910). Original hardware (except keyholes) were long-gone, but you guys did beautiful job on the repairs and top! Usually I hate seeing Eastlake painted, but this one needed it - and you guys were really respectful with the paint. The character is still there - kudos!
With your good eye for solid furniture and a lot of restoration work, you have made this amateurishly restored chest of drawers fit for living again. It was a pleasure to watch you again.
The huge amount of issues this piece presented was no match for your skills, and, as always, your affectionate teamwork! I especially love your detail work on the dovetails. Bravo to you both👏!! Oh! And "no cussing!" Too funny!
Absolutely beautiful... The best part of this video was the conversation about "no cussing"... It would have been reversed in my family though. Him saying "no cussing", and me cussing a storm.
A great piece saved from the landfill. I would not have had the patience to "rebuild" the cabinet, however, I think that the effort that y'all went through was shown in the finished work. The drawer dovetails turned out great. Looking forward to the next one.
That turned out great. You two are so talented and go the extra mile to create an appealing piece of furniture. I bought the cousin to that piece for $40 last September and didn’t make any visible changes to it. It was built the same way, but had two half drawers on top that curve out in the middle and a top that mimicked that shape. It had casters on the legs and similar thin lock and drawer pull covers. I cleaned it thoroughly and did the same repair to the back. I used matching colored Minwax wood filler in the 1/16 inch gap where two boards on top had separated (after trying unsuccessfully to glue and clamp them together).
Hello, I just found your channel and subscribed. U two are so very talented! I would much rather purchase refurbished furniture than brand new. For one everything is made so cheaply these days, your lucky if it lasts a year or two. Y'all buy old furniture that's been around for at least fifty years and redo it so securely and beautiful, I know it would last me at least another 50yrs. They dont make things like they used to. I hope u and your wife have a great blessed day!
Super pro you two! Wow, that new top turned out gorgeous. Routing skills, check! So much hard work but so worth it for this final result. No more 💄🐖 now!
Hi Laura! There are so many details that need to be put into every video and sometimes we miss some! Thanks for bringing up the "buy me a coffee update" and we have added it to the description! 💗💗💗
Wow! That is a serious rebuild! Excellent job on the new top. You’re getting very good with that router! I especially like the effect of the drawers stained black. Love the pale stain with the olive paint, too. Curious why you used laquer on the light-stained wood but used poly on the black-stained wood.🌸
I like the drawer detail, it reminds me of Mayfield Restorations, where I first saw that. I’m glad you could re-purpose the wood from a free piece to make a new top. I’m a little sad that some of the history of the piece is not evident….saw mill marks were painted but at Lear they are part of the re-incarnation
Great restoration. Super. Ice. Can you tell me the brand and model of the electric hand saw you used to cut the top please? My table saw just died and i am thinking this could be a good replacement. Thank you very much.
Love it! I'm just starting out flipping my own furniture. How long do you wait before lowering your price on a piece of furniture that isn't selling? Thanks for everything
We usually wait at least a couple of weeks before lowering the price. Most of the time it seems like it's just waiting for the right buyer to come along. Thanks Carla!
I have reshaped warped wood using a wet towel, some weights and heat (from summer sunlight 😆), but never a piece this size. I wonder if it would work and if it would retain the shape over time
I have a piece similar to this one. Mine has grooved drawer fronts but The rest down to the saw marks is the same. Mine has that old funky smell. ☹️ And tips you have on getting rid of the smell? Other than 🔥 I enjoy watching your repairs!!
For normal old wood smell, a good wash with dawn dish soap will usually take care of it. If it's more persistent, or a mildew type smell, every surface (inside and out) should be prepped with shellac. Thanks Christine!

Wow, thank you!
Wow all the work but you made it pay off in the end, Awesome. Cindy I love to hear your laugh.
Yes! No cursing. lol

This piece is just simply beautiful. What a great renovation. And using a solid oak top from another table was a stroke of genius.

Love the pale stain with the olive paint, too. Curious why you used laquer on the light-stained wood but used poly on the black-stained wood.🌸
We used the poly because it was a flat finish instead of the satin lacquer. No technical reason...just what we had on hand.😁 Thanks Deborah!
That is one pretty piggy now! LOL A lovely restoration. The hard work was worth it.
Thanks Carmen!
I like the drawer detail, it reminds me of Mayfield Restorations, where I first saw that.

We try to save what we can. The bottoms of the drawers and the back of the unit still have the original saw marks. Thanks Laura!
🐷💄gorgeous. Awesome repairs and details. Great idea for the top as well
Thank you!!!
Great work! Did you guys happen to have the key for the drawers?
I Love the Work And Love Both of U’s but into This peice
Thanks Elizabeth!!!

Glad you found it!!!
With a dresser that old,,sanding all the drawers is ,I think necessary,,,50 yrs of old stuff on them,,,,
They were pretty grungy! Thanks Dodd!
Why did you use the spray lacquer, isn’t it expensive?
It's about $8.00 per can and we used less than a can for this project. We just love the look and the durability of the lacquer! Thanks Georgia!
