  • In this video i talk about double bass string bumping, magnetic pickups and plugging them into a shadow rockabilly pro preamp.
In this video i try to bump my strings with a high C string but immeadietly notice a problem. The strings i am changing to are Thomastik Präzision strings. I play through a Krivo magnetic double bass pickup plugged into a Shadow RB Pro preamp where i mix it with a slap pickup at the back of the fingerboard.

Sounds good brother! I picked some good pointers, and learning about that pre amp was great. I’m gonna rush out and buy one because you can definitely hear the difference in the low end attack and the snap. Also you’re a great player keep it up and don’t ever take that talent for granted!

the string/pickup experiments with upright bass is such a crazy expensive journey! I'll save you some money and tell you that your bumped steels sound much better than bumped guts. Would love to hear a demo with the pickup plugged directly into the computer. I used a combo of Stringcharger magnetic pickup with K&K Rockabilly system live and loved the sound and the volume without worrying about feedback. But I settled on Presto/Eurosonic strings
